  1. Thanks, I just quoted the caption, I had no idea what it was. I've seen another one of them on Hank's Truck Pictures, but I wasn't about to repost that one! Cool looking truck though. And thanks for the other info!
  2. I had no idea. It was very small by today's standards though, wish i'd known what a camera was back then. I just did a google image search for Euclid trucks, and this looked most like what I remember. The one I drove had the stack coming through the hood- no muffler, just a straight pipe, about 2 feets tall.
  3. isn't a liter just over a quart? that would come out to around the same price then...pretty close I guess. I was thinking of driving to Moscow to fuel up next time, but since it's so close going that far out of route probably wouldn't be worthwhile.
  4. Certainly "politically incorrect", one of the liberal's favorite phrases, but in the real world you know that's exactly what this stupid bitch is thinking. No, wait..."stupid bitch" is politically incorrect too, even though the shoe fits. It's just like saying Rosie O'donnell is a fat stupid bitch is politically incorrect, even though it's a fact. Hmmmmm... never mind, I cain't say nuthin' 'bout nobody- jest fergit you ever saw this.
  5. From Facebook- looks chilly there, eh?
  6. I was just about to post some Cruiseliner pictures I saw on facebook when I saw this thread. I never drove a Cruiseliner myself, but I never really liked their looks as much as I did the F models, MH's, and even H models. But I have to admit, these are sharp!
  7. geez, I stay out of likes...i'm gonna quit liking so much stuff. OK, now I don't like nobody or nothing! hmmmmm...still out of likes- well, I tried.
  8. I drove an old Euclid at a quarry for a short while, first job I had when I graduated from high school in 1974, and it had a 4-71 in it. I just hauled rock from the quarry up to the crusher. It had a 10 speed transmission in it, like a duplex, but you never needed but 2 gears, take off in 1st. low and shift to second low and hold it wide open up out of the quarry. Go dump and do it again...and again...and again. Every once in a while i'd get up to 3rd. gear going back down the hill. It was slow, but it got the job done.
  9. yeah, i'm scared of aliens and them homeland security guys. In fact, I think i'd rather take my chances with the aliens. At least there's a chance of them being friendly.
  10. Hi Vlad. I didn't see any activity while I was there. There was actually 3 reactors there, another one that looked identical to the one pictured, and there was a shorter but much bigger around one in between them. I was sitting in the truck when I took that picture, the other 2 were to the left of it, behind the van trailer. I had to get out to see them, but I didn't want to be taking lots of pictures. I took some of the Autocar, but they might have wanted to know what I was up to if they saw me taking pictures of the reactors and the plant itself so I didn't take any chances.
  11. oh! so that's why she tried to stop me...dammit!.. that means she probably wasn't an alien then. She would flip her skirt up, and she had "STOP" written across the top of her panties, but I was scared...aliens scare me...i'm such an idiot...but what if it was a trick, and she really was an alien? You just never know about these things.
  12. Me too. I've got a couple of Cannonball DVD's.
  13. Forgot about Hijack, I have it on a VHS tape. Never seen Moonfire, i'll have to check it out.
  14. yes, that's it...did see this one in Gladys though. She tried to flag me down, but I didn't stop because I only saw 2 toes on her feets- she might have been an alien.
  15. yep, right across the road. I think it was called Midway Salvage. I've eaten there, but it was several years ago. At the diner that is, not the salvage yard. Used to be an 860 GMC sitting on the left somewhere before you get to Allentown, but it's been long gone.
  16. nah, sometimes I wear a Peterbilt cap though. Jeff bought this KW brand new and it didn't even come with floor mats, so I took the one out of the passenger side of the Pete before it left. The one on the driver side was worn out or I would have used that. I precision cut the brake pedal notch in it myself with my pocket knife. Looks factory, eh?
  17. Lot of places with dust problems and constant traffic, like sawmills, woodyards, quarries, etc. did that. And it would pack down as hard as concrete. Calcium chloride works too, but it's very expensive. Only time they'd spread calcium chloride at the Westvaco yard was when the people who lived across rt.60 from the woodyard complained about it covering everything in their house. Raymond would bring a little Ford tractor over with a hopper on the back, fill it with calcium chloride and ride around the yard until it was empty, and you could kick the ground and you wouldn't see any dust cloud.
  18. I got a positive ground alternator here http://www.metroheavyduty.com/ in Roanoke. I was gonna have them rebuild mine, but they had one on the shelf and it was only $120-some dollars exchange. They rebuilt the one I exchanged the first time, it had one of their stickers on it. Mine wouldn't have needed rebuilding, but somebody put new batteries in the truck once, and momentarily hooked the cables up backwards.
  19. Speaking of the EPA and regulations, and paint, and lines, I've been noticing that the lines on the road are getting really hard to see anymore at night, especially when it's raining, worse still when you're meeting oncoming traffic. I thought I just couldn't see that good any more, which may be true- however, I did pass the eye test without my glasses when I had my last physical- but somebody told me that wasn't it at all, it's the paint they use now. They said the paint used to be an oil base paint and that it used to have something in it to give it a little reflectiveness, but it wasn't "environmently friendly" for some reason or other, so they changed the paint. Now you can't see where you're going at night in the rain at all, but at least the paint does not harm the environment, so that's a big relief. I always worried about the paint in those lines being harmful before, now all I have to worry about is running off the road, down the bank, and into the river.
  20. Here's more of Jim Moore's, took these in Colfax, N.C.
  21. Happy birthday again- here's the hotdog girl.
  22. Once again, I took some pictures this week. Had to take a van to the nucular pire plant in Buchanan, N.Y. and drop it on site for Areva, then bobtail back. Got paid both ways, but it rained most of the way back, and it's never fun to bobtail in the rain. I saw a large car and a big truck on poles. I'm getting out of my comfort zone here- wrong part of the world for me. Truck going through inspection at the power plant- we were lucky, didn't have to go in the secure area. Secret spy shot of one of the reactors. Secret spy shot of a good looking Autocar that was parked there. Billboard in Allentown- I hit a bump on the bridge right as I snapped this picture, I was surprised it was any good at all. Saw these units in Midway- thought maybe they were U models, but they were probably DM's. Thought I saw a DM earlier, all I could see over the wall was the top of the cab and dump body. Then when I got closer I saw that it was a small single axle dump, so it was probably a U model. Didn't take a picture...thought it was probably a DM. I was snacking on some Cheez-It Snack Mix while bobtailing and the box fell in the floor. I picked up the edges of the mat and centered it in a nice neat pile until I could dispose of it properly. I was telling NoClueJoe66 about the incident on the phone and I said "I should take a picture of it"...so I did. This is more like it- saw this cabover KW while heading to Warren, Ohio with a load of steel. This is in Bedford, Va. with Sharp Top Mountain, one of the Peaks of Otter, in the background. Headed west on I-64 in West Virginia Wednesday. Headed east on I-64 in West Virginia Thursday. Heading home on 501 this evening.
  23. I agree Vlad, that's one of the straightest, sharpest looking B models i've ever seen. It's probably jealous of that fancy gussied up Superliner with the bright red paint.
