  2. thanks Larry, I appreciate the offer. I'll probably take my "snow route" though, 77 north to Parkersburg, then up rt.2, cross over to 7, then 11 north. All flat by the river and they seem to take good care of it when it's snowing. I've seen them salting rt.7 when it was 40 degrees and just raining when they were calling for snow. Got a reload of scrap coils in Weirton going to Suffolk,Va. I saw on the weather channel this morning in Indianapolis they don't even put the plows on the roads there until they have 6'' on the ground? That seems crazy, getting on it early is the key!
  3. could happen!
  4. thanks Vinny.
  5. just seen on the weather channel it was 11 below in Des Moines. 34 and raining here now. I was supposed to go to Lynchburg and load for Warren,Ohio today but we're gonna wait until tomorrow. Pretty nasty farther north.

  15. I used to run 522 and 70 to Breezewood all the time, then run the turnpike west. Then the turnpike got so expensive we started running up 79 to get to the Pittsburgh area. It used to cost $21 to run from Breezewood to Ohio, I have no idea what it costs now. Haven't been on the Pa. pike for years.

  21. The "buzzin' dozen" was pretty much king of the road in it's day- fuel prices weren't much of an issue then. Reminds me of a story- a true one. A fellow I know used to drive an F- model Mack with a V12 Detroit in it. He stopped at the Southern Belle truck stop on 522 in Berkley Springs one night. He was talking to some other drivers in the truckstop, and when they left one of the other drivers asked him what he was driving. He said "that Mack". He had a load of green lumber on, so one of the other guys said "you mind letting us leave first?" They were driving "large cars, and didn't want to be held up going through Berkley Springs. So he said "fine, go ahead". He followed them through Berkley Springs, and up the rest of the 2 lane up to Hancock, where you get on I-70. When they started pulling Town Hill Mountain, before you get to Breezewood, he just hit the left lane and passed them all.
  22. thank you, he's a handsome chap- doesn't take after me!
  23. wow, you looked a lot different then!
  24. ...bet you thought you'd see t&a, eh?
