  1. Here's the redneck conversion kit.
  2. oh, I forgot- "yay,Herb's back!"
  3. we wondered where you've been Herb, thought you'd abandoned us too. Yeah, probably lots to catch up on.
  4. sorry Vinny, I didn't have anything else to do and some time to kill.
  5. .
  6. ...to Theakerstwo!
  7. I try. "what? I didn't even notice the redhead with the short-shorts and nice ass, I was just taking a picture of the Mini Cooper!"
  8. I like the Cockshutt tractor. I've seen several, but none that big, or that new looking. What hp is that one?
  9. this one is in West Virginia, rt.60 just west of Rainelle.
  10. I was looking at a Transport Topics magazine last week at the shop, and now California is going to require "green" tires on all trucks and van trailers. Tires with lower rolling resistance- trucking companies were complaining that it would mean tires that wear out sooner, and didn't have near as much traction in snow. Sounded to me that it meant nothing but straight tread tires on the drives."You can't come into California, you leaked a drop of oil, your truck smokes too much, you got too much grease on the 5th. wheel...and you do not have the proper tires- now beat it!"
  11. We used to take off for Bob's Supermarket in Farmville,Va. in the 70's when they'd have a sale and stock up on Ballantine beer for 99 cents a 6 pack. It came in short fat bottles, not too bad, and way cheaper than the good stuff, like Falstaff or PBR.
  12. I don't know, I couldn't get the driver side door open and I didn't want to pull too hard, so I didn't get to see the cereal number. I didn't see anybody there so I just got out, snapped a few pictures and left. It had a Duplex in it with nice gear shift knobs though.
  13. I never used Quaker State oil because everybody used to say it would gum the engine up, but it's probably just as good as any other oil.
  14. I was talking to the man who signed my bills where I unloaded crane mats Friday morning. He said he couldn't get anything done because of the EPA and rules and regulations. They were trying to clear a right of way, for a pipeline I guess, and he said they had to get a permit to cut any tree over 5'' in diameter-or it might have been 3''. All they could do is clear the brush, then they have to go back and cut the trees whenever they get the permit. Twice the work, twice the time, and twice the expense. He said he'd been waiting for 3 months.
  15. With special added bonus pictures-poorly photochopped hitchhikers for Farmer52! Superliner in Lynchburg Stopped and checked out the wrecker in New Castle,Pa. looks like it will hold enough fuel to drive to Australia and back. This Transtar II was on the other side of the building. This girl wanted to know if I could help her get the spare tire out of her trunk. Said she'd make it worth my while, but I told her I didn't have time, had a load to pick up. Saw a Ford too. and some big logs-thse are giant redoakwood these look like popular logs A big bulldozer machine A curve in the road A straight road Saw this girl hitchhiking up the straight road, but I didn't bother to stop. After I unloaded some crane mats I had to go over the hill and about a half mile further and back into another dirt road to turn around. This is coming back after I got turned around, I had unloaded way up there by that yellow machine that looks like a little dot in the picture. Saw this girl who appeared to be broke down, but I didn't stop when she tried to flag me down-might've been a trick. This sign was on the wall at Lane Steel in Mckees Rocks, where I loaded Wednesday. Nice to see something like that, instead of getting the usual "you're an asshole because you drive a truck" treatment.
  16. I saw a Brockway tractor once. and I saw a Massey Ferguson one time and one time I even saw an Oliver.
  17. " Many great people here and a few whack jobs."see, there's one already.
  18. OK, i'm the aardvark. I like H models. I like F models. I like the MH's. But the Cruiseliners...I just never cared much for their looks. Very nice pictures though, your "kodiakatronomy of the week" award will be in the mail.
  19. That is indeed a tough engine. I had one in a '68 Camaro when I was 19 or 20 years old. The rear main bearing seal leaked really bad, but I never fixed it because I was intending on putting the 350 out of my Nova in it. I lived in Cumberland,Va. at the time and I would fill it up with oil- cheap oil too, reprocessed or whatever- then overfill it a quart, drive it to Richmond on Friday nights, and by the time I got back to Powhatan on the way home the oil light would be on and it would knock like hell the rest of the way home. Then i'd fill it back up with oil the next day and it would quit knocking and be good as new. Did that many times with that old car.
  20. I saw a mini cooper once, at a truck show.
  21. Happy birthday!
  22. I do have one older picture of when she rode down the track with Larry for the first time.
  23. that's a little nicer than the last one-How about if you got your girlfriend, or someone else's computer to try to set you up, then you could change your password later.
  24. they've got lots of stuff there all right. I went off-roading, out of route, through the briars, through the brambles, and had to turn around in a field to get a picture of that IH Paystar in W.V. that I thought was so rare that time, then I passed by Adelman's one day and they had a small fleet of Paystars lined up in there.
  25. oh...well, that might be his girl friend's car or something. or it could be his pimpmobile, only driven when he doesn't want to attract attention to himself.
