  1. He didn't see any hitchhikers, but he did see this homeless girl near Youngstown. She was on her way to the scrapyard to steal scrapmetal, pushing a stolen Wal-Mart cart. I know it came from Wal-Mart, it had a bad pull to the right.
  2. I wish I had 505 hp. I'd be halfway back to what I used to have.
  3. Uhhh...i've forgotten that rule- is it "if you can see them, they are real" or is it "if you can touch them, they are real''?
  4. Thanks for the pictures, sounds like that was a good experience for you. I figured out a long time ago when the road is that slick it's not worth taking a chance on tearing something up, or possibly getting hurt- there's too many crazies out there who refuse to believe the road gets slick, until they're in the ditch. I've loaded coils right over behind that Chevy plant a couple of times. One more thing you should have- a Rand McNally motor carriers road atlas. It shows truck routes and weigh stations, has a list of low underpasses for each state, requirements and regulations, etc. They won't steer you wrong. I think I mentioned the guy a while back- I was headed west on 460,coming from Petersburg. A guy in front of me asked me on the radio if I knew where this sawmill was where he was going to load lumber.I told him "yeah, first Blackstone exit, left off the ramp,it's on the left". About the time I finished telling him he said "oh,my gps says to turn here''. So he did. It was a little road to nowhere, barely wide enough for a car. We were still 15 miles from Blackstone, where the mill was. That was a few weeks ago, he might still be up in there trying to get turned around!
  5. more vapor trails...chemtrails...contrails...boobies...whatever you call 'em.
  6. .
  7. oh, here's "the rest of the picture".
  8. Yes, it's the same superhighway, but from Moorefield west it's rt. 48, 55 still exits at Moorefield and follows 220 to Petersburg where they split again. It's finished over the mountain from Moorefield now, trucks have to exit at Patterson Creek Road and run that down to rt. 42. It ends now at some little road that brings you out in Maysville. I've been across it coming east because there's no truck restriction coming that way. It's a skinny crooked little road, but it's only 3 or 4 miles from Maysville up to the new road. It'll be nice when they open the new road all the way to Mount Storm.
  9. that's painted like the '79 I drove. I put a visor on mine though.
  10. All I have is a faded handshaker. Try Hank's Truck Pictures and just search his site for Mason Dixon, i'm sure there's tons of pictures there. never mind...too little too late!
  11. I got out the ol' GMC history book. These 800 series were actually made from 1958-62. The only engine options listed was either a 4-71 or a 6-71.
  12. I did win the lottery today- $5 on a $5 scratch ticket...i'll be headed off to work tomorrow.
  13. yes, it is indeed against the law.
  14. at least they're wearing sensible shoes.
  15. sure did- 4 wheelers do it all the time, kind of rare to see another truck do it.
  16. I don't know a thing about it Vlad, just saw the picture and thought i'd pass it along. The man that posted it gave no details at all. I agree, It doesn't look too bad for the price.
  17. I looked at a U-model in Ambridge Tuesday. I posted pictures of it before, but this time I got the interior and even the cereal number! They have a V8 R-model too. Saw a Brockway and a bulldozer in the Tractor House. The goats were way up on top of the hill. Smoke from the power plant at Mt. Storm way over yonder. Now i'm over yonder too. They're building a new 4 lane highway across there, but it isn't finished. You have to exit at the bottom of the hill in the first picture, and it's 27 miles over to Mount Storm from the top of the mountain where I took the first picture over to the top of the mountain near the power plant. Construction on the new road. This is over near Mt. Storm, at the top of the mountain, a 5 mile 10% down grade to Scherr,W.V. Unless you're going the other way, then it would be uphill. Going down the mountain. 4 wheeler passing me... big truck passing me An old truck over there Some hard climbs here- had 5 steel coils on,48,000+ lbs. Lake's drawn down pretty low. And this time, I really did see a woman hitchhiking! She looked nothing like this one however... She was on rt. 51 south of Pittsburgh, and I was going the same direction. She was not bad looking at all- 40-ish, long black hair, black shirt, sweat pants, big hoop ear rings. And I didn't get a picture! I know the rules- if you don't get a picture it didn't really happen...but I saw her. I did. Here's a picture of a big Christmas tree on top of a building in Charleston, W.V. It was about 2am when I took this, completely dark, it didn't come out at all, but it still looked kind of neat, so I didn't delete it. Guess i'll shave now, no shave November is over... ...and those conspiracy theory people might be on to something!
  18. Saw this on facebook. The fellow that posted it said he thought the owner wanted $2,000 for it, but he wasn't sure.
  19. I saw a little snow in West Virgina and Maryland Monday night myself. This was Tuesday morning on I-68 in Maryland.
  20. They're D860's, made from around '58-60. These used the old GMC cabs, different nose. They were replaced by the 7000 series in 1960 I think. I don't know how many were made or anything, but they must have been pretty popular, I remember seeing lots of them when I was a young lad. Always liked the looks of them.
  21. I just got on here myself, i'm sorry also. And welcome back rhasler.
  22. "have to get out to change your mind"...Freighttrain
  23. I'll "borrow" another one of Fabian's pictures- he has a good Mack page on facebook.https://www.facebook.com/groups/303083819754424/
  24. that was my favorite of the two.
  25. sometimes I do, they were some of the best trucks I ever drove.
