  1. I like it! Here's another ideer.
  2. So would I! Seen it for years, but i'm not sure what it is. There's like a quonset hut there with a VW beetle sticking out of the side of it, but not much room to pull off in a truck. Here's a little video I took going around the 15mph. curve at Chimney Corner, headed west.
  3. Heavy Gunner might like these-
  4. No, Hawks Nest is between 19 and Charleston, actually between Ansted and Gauley Bridge.
  5. Petersburg, Va, it's off of I-95 just before you get to the I-85 split. South Park exit. You can see it from 95, they have truck parking too. There's usually some Abilene trailers out back.
  6. I saw a Bulldog golf cart once, in Winchester.
  7. hmmmm- none of the pictures seemed to work!
  8. hmmmm....me neither, probably kind of rare these days. That's the only tractor that was roped off, all the trucks were, but you could walk right up to the rest of the tractors.
  9. It was hard to keep up with a Snuffy running across Hawk's Nest.
  10. Here's 'just an R-model'
  11. I bought a couple of books too, American Trucks of the 50's and American Trucks of the 60's. Not nearly as good as Ron Adams "Big Rigs of the..." series of books, but they were pretty cheap. They had a picture of a G-model in one that looks a lot like Doug Maney's, and one U-model picture.
  12. yeah, i'm speaking "Vinny" here, just a R ,not a U.
  13. Wish i'd seen that, probably be on again though. The tractor shows and antique tractor pulls are my favorite shows on there.
  14. OK, thanks. Heck, I might just go back again!
  15. I don't know Vinny, if i'd have taken a close look at everything in that case i'd still be there looking now. When I first saw the Smith's Transfer I thought "great- a U-model"! But it was 'just' an R-model.
  16. I'd seen one of them on the tractor show on RFD TV before, never up close before though. I'm glad David posted the info on the sign, I just took one of the advertisement sign but it's hard to read.Bet they were too expensive for regular folks to buy when they came out, probably why they didn't last long. You could probably buy an 8N and a good used pickup for what they cost- 1938 was a little before my time, but that's what i'd guess.
  17. Had the hood open today.
  18. Don't they have kibbles and bits where you come from? I mean, varmints like possums, groundhogs, or wallabys are one thing, but a bunny?..and you gobbled that thing up like you hadn't eaten for a month! Come on, you should be ashamed! Dozer, shoot me an e-mail to drphil@dooshbag.com and i'll see if I can get you on the show and get you the help you need. We can beat this!
  19. It's well worth stopping if you're in the area, I was very impressed.Always liked the M's and Super M's But this is a good looking tractor too. My brother had a 350 Farmall, but he sold it. ...and this GMC was looking good too.
  20. Yeah, in the old box with a door on top that you lifted like a freezer door, packed in ice. They had an old bottle collection too.
  21. Well, I finally made the trip down there today! It's Friday, vacation's about over, it was now or never. Man, it was- it was a great trip! They had more tractors than i'd ever seen in one place, some makes and models i'd never even heard of. They have Detroit Diesel powered Olivers and Massey Fergusons, the Minneapolis Moline with the cab on it, and about anything else you can think of. They had old cars, trucks, firetrucks, old tools, steel traps, bicycles, and on and on. All for $8 admission. I took over 200 pictures! Here's a few of them- This MF has a huge engine,eh? It's all engine! I thought it was at least a 16 cylinder, with about 1200 hp, but the sign said it was a six cylinder, 89hp. GM power Some trucks- that is indeed Dr. Bill's W-71 they have, along with this GMC tanker that he was hauling in the video. I don't know how they managed to get these trucks, but it was a great score! Some of their pulling tractors- We got a cold RC out of the icebox when we left. Yeah, they have moon pies too.
  22. never heard of it before.
  23. That's a neat looking truck. Olive, i'd like to see that sleeper compartment- how about you be brave, return to the scene, git up in it, and take a snapshot of it. Thanks.
