  1. Farmville? That's practically in my back yard! Ma and Dad live in Cumberland, my grandparents lived in Farmville.
  2. It really sucks! That's been the speed limit down that mountain since the 70's, kinda made sense then but not now. Back then there was no bypass around Uniontown, you had to go thru Hopwood, and nobody had an engine brake. Now there's both. When I unload in Oakland, Md. and have to go to Pittsburgh to load I go down that sumbitch 10 mph. The Pa. DOT nabbed me once about 20 years ago-I was empty- doing 17 mph, and it cost me hundreds of dollars. The DOT man said "the sign at the top says you have to use the lowest gear you've got!" I was driving a T800 KW with a 444 Cummins,18 spd. at the time. I told him '' if I did that I wouldn't get here until tomorrow". He said "I don't care, that's what you're supposed to do!" That's when I realized safety had nothing to do with it, it's all about the money.
  3. Great pictures, you win the kodiakatronomy trophy this week! It's in the mail, should be there in a couple of weeks. Nice Peterbilt there, and a nice looking groundhog.
  4. I agree totally, that was always my dream if I won the lottery- i'd get a big Peterbilt, like I used to drive, and just go all over the country and buy all the old trucks I could find and store them in a big warehouse for all to see. I'd drive a Pete just so I could pass through Farmington, Il. at every opportunity and blow the horn when I went by Rob's place. But seriously, you are right, and my hat's off to the Keystone Museum for doing what they're doing- gotta get there soon, right Mark?
  5. He does, Art's a Mack man! He could have a U around somewhere, I don't know.
  6. I post lots of pictures but I resize them to a much smaller size first, then every few months or so i'll go back and delete them altogether after they've been long forgotten and no longer of interest to anyone.
  7. I'll take a stab at it- was it Oprah Winfrey in "The Color Purple"?
  8. Saw a blimp in Pittsburgh Tuesday. And a good looking dump truck. Another dump truck on a trailer A new trailer at the yard Some a-hole from N.C. passing in Pa. after the passing lane ended way back yonder. The big red forklift at the yard. Lots of Macks and one hay baler at Art Reed's in Montvale.
  9. I've been thinking, when I was at P.L.Duncan's with nocluejoe the last time he had a truck like this backed up into the woods at the edge of the field. I didn't get a close look at it, but it was a straight truck with a flatbed body, painted green, looked to be in great shape from what little I did see. Now that I know that they know Mr. Duncan i'd guess it was the same truck, as there can't be that many of them around. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/gallery/album/692-old-macks-in-cumberland-va/ I'd like to see them get the highbinder and the Conco IH that Mr. Duncan has for their museum too, both rare aminals 'round these parts.
  10. Saw this in today's paper. I don't know if i'm going with "Rob" or "Ottercar". Maybe i'll send both.
  11. naw, I think yours look better Bob...at least just as good,eh? Yeah, I really like my grill. Remember when everyone here was giving me a hard time about my "new unit" when I got it, because I made such a big deal about it? Heck, my old grill was made from an anti-freeze drum!
  12. We had a pet raccoon when I was jest a boy. My younger brother and myself found it in the woods by an oak tree that had fallen down. Apparently the mother had abandoned it, it was more dead than alive when we found it. It was so small we raised it on a baby bottle, and it was a great pet. We turned it loose after it was grown, and by then you could tell it's natural instincts had started to kick in, so I feel pretty sure it was OK.
  13. Hi Randyp! At least the randyp drought is over, we were getting seriously worried because we hadn't heard from you for so long. Wonder how rhasler is doing, New Mexico is on fire.
  14. I don't float or fly, so i'm gonna drive. Happy birthday!

  18. "screw you guys, i'm going home- my mom's gonna make me a pie!"...Eric Cartman
  19. we might have had slaw, I don't remember. By the time all was said and done I could hardly walk for some reason- must have been tired. I do remember picking some macaroni out of the garden so Jo could make macaroni salad.
  20. yeah, the offset firebox is great for smoking. I usually put charcoal in it to start, then just add oak, hickory, or maple wood as needed. I don't use it for cooking a steak, chicken, or burgers, just cook them directly over charcoal in the main grill. I did smoke the chicken yesterday using just the indirect heat because I had plenty of time to cook it.
  21. i'll put them in the mail Tuesday, the post office will be closed tomorrow.
  22. Grill loaded to full capacity- done smoking, 4 or 5 hours. time to wrap them up an let them finish cooking in my old outdoor wood fired gas stove oven. I even cooked 2 chickens- time for a cold one now! everybody that liked the ribs, raise your hand... hmmmmph!..only 2 peoples liked them.
  23. I saw on the keystone museum website that they're going to tour the P.L. Duncan collection too, he has lots of old everything at his place!
