  1. Here's a slightly bigger picture, i've already resized the original down to screen size on my computer.
  2. I saw this when I was looking for a "rotten fish" picture and had to check it out. And people actually eat it? And like it? They say "once you get past the smell... Surströmming From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search Opened can of surströmming in brine. Surströmming (pronounced [sʉ̌ːʂtrœmːɪŋ], Swedish "soured (Baltic) herring") is a northern Swedish dish consisting of fermented Baltic herring. Surströmming is sold in cans, which often bulge during shipping and storage, due to the continued fermentation. When opened, the contents release a strong and sometimes overwhelming odor, which explains why the dish is often eaten outdoors. A Japanese study has shown that the smell of a newly opened can of surströmming is the most putrid smell of food in the world, beating similar fermented fish dishes such as the Korean Hongeohoe or Japanese Kusaya.[1]
  3. that's exactly right. Like the treated lumber we haul now- they want us to drop our rates to the same thing TMC gets. They haul it from Va. to Toledo, Oh. for $525 to the truck and that's ridiculous! That would only pay me $131.25 and I get $206 and change to go to the Akron/Canton area now. The thing is, they always have the weight on the bills as between 44 and 46,000lbs. but the last load I weighed, just last Monday or Tuesday, I had over 51,000lbs. on so they already get a good bit hauled for nothing. I've hauled loads that I know were heavier that I didn't weigh so about every 6 or 8 loads they basically getting a load hauled for free. I've weighed 3 loads of it lately, one was over 81,000 and the other 2 were almost 84,000. If they increase the weight limit they'll want to add a couple more packs of lumber to the loads for the same rate. Went up Sandstone in 6th. gear @18mph. with a heavy one I didn't weigh. Keeps on like that we'll need a push truck up there since I don't drive a big truck ( Peterbilt )anymore.
  4. that's why I hate advance auto parts. if it's not in their computer it does not exist to them. they have no clue how to measure a belt and find you one that fits your 1967 Schnortzendeigerville station wagon because it's not in their computer, even though the same belt fits a '98 Grand Riggerbeeter Supreme pickup and they have 10 of them on the shelf.
  5. yeah! thanks for you support...check's in the mail.
  6. they're special built boots aren't they- big enough at the top to put the sheep's hind legs in so they cain't get away? I've heard of them but never seen a pair around here. Sheep are kinda rare around these parts anyway.
  7. I said I'll be driving a red anteater, ok?
  8. I might be at Truckworld by then, can't say. I'll be driving a red anteater.
  9. I've heard the same thing about bulldogs. We had a cat once and I named it 400, Jeff Moore had already named their cat 380.
  10. I suspect that he suspects that you suspect that he's a tool. you should just go give him a hug.
  11. Me too, it does look real! Thanks for joining. That's amazing- I have trouble putting a stamp on an envelope by myself.
  12. that's no way to be talkin' 'bout your new brother in law. you should go apoligize to him immediately for thinking he's a tool, even if he didn't know you think he's a tool.
  13. Auctions are fun to go to, even though I haven't been to one for years. I've been to estate auctions and watched people bid on a shovel- an ordinary plain old shovel, not one that was once owned by John Wayne or anything, just a shovel- and end up bidding twice what they could have went to Appomattox Hardware and bought a new one for. And on the other hand, my son-in-law once bought a nice 12 or 14 foot jon boat for a hundred dollars.
  14. Oh absolutely. I think I liked looking through the stuff as much as he did.
  15. I buy them cheap dollar store brushes, use them once and throw them away. But I just paint the picnic table or porch about once every 17 years or so, don't do a lot of painting. If I do have an expensive brush I clean it good after using it then stick it in a can of gas and let it sit for several years before I throw it away.
  16. I used to like to go with Claude Allen Moore to help retrieve his auction buys. He owns a machine shop and a lot of time he would have to bid on a lot, usually a lot of stuff together, or sometimes every thing in a room at large factories or industrial plants, when all he wanted might be one particular machine tool. He always requested me because i'd always help him sort stuff, move stuff, carry stuff, load stuff,or whatever, instead of waiting in the sleeper or something while they loaded the trailer like most drivers would do. The old " that's not my job" deal. Most of the stuff that he didn't want or couldn't use he could resell easily but there was still a lot of things they just threw away and he told me if I wanted any of it to help myself, so I did. Got some pretty neat stuff sometimes.
  17. As a matter of fact he called me last week. He said he left Potter's again and went to work for another building supply company, still driving a buggy truck though. He said he liked it better, they treat him well, and he's making more money so that's all good. Apparently he's in love too, every time he sends me a text message or picture he signs off with "Joe loves Candice". He should send me a picture of Candice so I can evaluate her.
  18. Gee, even i'm almost speechless...but not quite. One of the greatest posts i've read here Olivetroad, absolutely a great story and thanks for sharing it. My hat's off to your uncle. And great pictures by the way- that's a beautiful home he built! And thank you too Mack, great story too and i'm really sorry for your loss. Now- I wondered about those shoes as soon as I saw them, they just didn't fit the profile! And that paint looks great- c'mon, didn't you have them trucks buffessionally painted at Otto's Affair, or something like that, in central Illinois?
  19. I see Art Reed has a blurry Superliner at his place in Montvale too. I got a good picture of a Cline dump truck. I saw a colorful old firetruck in Bedford. Stupid pole.
  20. Got a picture of the back of the truck, and it's cousin is parked over by the building behind it.
  21. Yeah, be careful in there- I usually fuel at Truckworld about twice a week.
  22. My neighbor has a V8 Massey Ferguson. It's red. He must wash and wax it regularly, never seen anyone keep a tractor so clean.
  23. Just don't let that fat girl model back on it, you'll spend all your money on seats and tires.
