    randyp:

Unfortunately, I no longer drive a Peterbilt.
  2. The old IH dump truck at the shop is an old road tractor with air ride, and it's terrifying to drive on the road with a load of gravel. You've got that constant feeling of "i'm turning overrrrrr...."
  3. OK Vinny, i have a question. If one train leaves St. Louis headed west at 3:15, and the other train leaves Denver at 4:30 heading east, how long will it take randyp to finish moving 300,000,000 cubic yards of Texas dirt over to Arkansas?
  4. I had an encounter with the Illinois coppers about 30 years ago. I had loaded in Joliet and was driving a 1977 F- model Mack east on I-80,minding my own business, running the speed limit, heading to Winchester,Va. The eastbound scales were closed, west side was open, and a little ways past them a cop pulled me over. He said "i'm takin' you back to the scales". I said "I ain't got on but 40,000 lbs, you want to see my bills?" He said "no! I want to weigh you!" So I had to follow him to the next exit, make a flip, go back to the west bound scales, got a green light, then go to the next exit to get headed east again. I thought about going in the scale house and showing my ass, but I didn't, I just went on. Probably the best thing to do.
  5. I saw a 70 LS6 Chevelle for sale when I was looking for that picture- $39,900. The 66 and 67 GTOs and Tempests are one of my all time favorites when it comes to good looking cars.
  6. I had a '70 Chevelle SS myself, but it was a 396- 350 (402) not a 454. It did have headers, Crane cam, tarantula intake, 780 Holley, electric fuel pump, all the usual hot rod goodys. Sold it when I got married the first time, 1977.
  7. A-hemmm...maybe in '62, but by 1970 there was a new king of the road, eh?
  8. I called them yesterday, they said they couldn't do the proper repairs here (Lynchburg) so they sent it to the Roanoke shop, and they sent it to Richmond. Should be back good as new in a couple of weeks.
  9. Crap, that ruins everything! My apolligies, it wasn't a clear view and I thought maybe it was your girlfriend in there. I fixed it.
  10. The Cat scale at the truckstop is expensive, but you do get a little truck picture card when you use them.
  11. Speaking of Duluth, we deliver to N.B.Handy there regularly, but it's been a while since I was there.
  12. Good for you! You might want to dig a large-very large- hole in the back yard and hide that bus before somebody comes looking for it.
  13. I had one Dodge pickup, a '76 3/4 ton. Damn good truck, would haul all the firewood I could pile on it and you couldn't tell it was loaded. Didn't sag or want to swerve all over the road with that kind of load on it. It ran great, and I only paid $500 for it. Had a 360 engine that just loved gas too.
  14. ...and then the fight started. note: since I don't know about the sense of humor of some individuals, any resemblance to any real people or any previously posted pictures is entirely coincidental and done purely by accident.
  15. Is that a back seat driver in there, or an optical illusion?..oh boy!
  16. That's up rt. 219 somewhere near the middle of nowhere. I've been by there, best truck route is 92 north out of White Sulphur up to 39, then west over to 219 north, rather than 219 all the way out of Lewisburg. But she's probably coming from sunny south Florida, and will take 77 all the way to Beckley, then 64 east to 219,eh? Hope she doesn't take 460 from Princeton over to Rich Creek and up 219, that's an all day job.
  17. That's the place. Real nice people there too. You have to turn on Navarre, there's about an 11' underpass if you don't. They had a load of blades in Petersburg going right back to Canton that I hoped i'd get, but a TMC came in to load them before I even got unloaded.
  18. Hi Ed! and no, not coming from the south, unless you were lost. It's closed now anyway, there used to be a bridge across there, coming straight out of the tunnel. This is about 20 miles south of Charleston.
