  1. There used to be REOs and Diamond T's, before they became Diamond Reo. White Motor Co. took over Diamond T in 1958, and bought out REO Motor Truck Co. in 1957. They combined the names to become Diamond REO in 1967.
  2. It's still rough as ever. I called Bill and axed him about that and he said he had intended to fix it, but he spent those funds on a new dress for someone named Monica. Don't know what that's all about...
  3. Thanks David, i'm glad to hear that- I tried to call him today, but got no answer. I was starting to get seriously worried!
  4. Another week and another weekend's already gone. Time sure flies when you get older- I mean, when you're having fun. Bobtailed to Russelville, Arkansas last weekend so even though I had time to unload in Petersburg Friday and reload for Milton for tomorrow I stopped in Concord and called it a week. Besides, Todd was playing golf and Jeff left early to go to some oyster festival, and when the cat's are away- I put my alternator on the mixer. Nothing smoked this time, nothing burned up, and it was showing 14 volts, so all is good so far. I saw a nice International pickup in Nashville. This is the power plant I went to- got lucky again, like in Michigan, the trailer wasn't in the secure area so all I had to do was hook-up and hammer down. Ran out of hours on my 70 in Tn. on the way back though. The new truck-this is called "wfo". Chilly enough to start a fire at the shop!
  5. I didn't see the Mack guys there- I always buy a hat, tee shirt, or something from them.
  6. More pictures here- http://community.webshots.com/album/581767056irUEem?start=0
  7. I took a trip down to the ATHS show in Colfax,N.C. today. Saw Mark (Vision386) there, and David was on the way but I left before he got there. Oh, I saw some trucks too. This might have been my favorite-
  8. I tore a door off a chip trailer once pulling off the dump- came unhooked when it was in the air and when I started pulling off it started to swing out and caught on the side of the dump. Threw it in the trailer and took it to the shop where they took the other door off and put a tail gate in it.
  9. Where's Rob, if anywhere?
  10. Leaving here shortly to bobtail to Russelville, Arkansas to pick up a trailer.

Is the gorilla that bad? I didn't think so. At least the gorilla isn't seeking dominance and control to further her own interests.

  11. Not really- I stopped and looked at it several years ago and the guys at the concrete plant said the owner pulled it out of the woods and parked it there. Did know his name, but I can't remember it right now. Craghead maybe? It's an A40 with a gas engine.
  12. Not sure of the wheelbase with that set back front axle, but it's as long or longer than the Pete was overall and it had a 275" wheelbase.
  13. I saw Art Reed in Montvale fueling up his R-model yesterday morning. He said this dump truck was a 1966 B-53. Got a 673 with a jake brake, 14 speed. He wants $7500 for it. He said the previous owner had the truck since it was new and had just had the engine overhauled and the jake installed when he had a stroke a couple of years ago, and recently passed.
  14. I was delivering pipes to a jobsite, unloading in a field, and the TMC trucks that were there could barely move in the wet grass, just spinning the whole way with super singles and our trucks never spun a wheel.
  15. "drive it like ya' stole it!" you mean? We used to turn the top of the breather over on Ma's '71 Impala all the time when I was a teenager. Nice car, 4 door with a 400 small block and 2 barrel carb.
  16. Oh, yeah...it's a nice comfortable truck-rides good, drives good. It's got a 10 speed, oughta have a 13 though. Just ain't got no power. But i'm still getting used to it, maybe it'll get better when I learn to drive it properly. And talk about slippery, when you ever do finally get to the top of a hill you don't have to touch the accelerator, it takes off like a rocket down the other side!
  17. Made a trip in the new unit. Been a long time since I drove a truck that was that weak. It has no power and it might as well not have an engine brake, it's pretty much useless. But, from Lynchburg to Dayton, Ohio pulling a drop deck with only 18,000 lbs. on then running empty to Sharon, Pa. it got 8.1 mpg. I loaded 44,500lbs. in Sharon going back to Lynchburg and it got 6.5mpg. for the entire trip. Here's a picture I took this evening after I got back and hooked back up to my regular trailer...same spot where I took the last Peterbilt picture. Speaking of Peterbilts, there was one of them at the yard today too.
  18. I asked the guy that posted the h-model picture if he had any more info, and that was his reply. I guess you'll just have to call that number.
  19. More info on these trucks- Hey william,I dont have any more pix but i do have a phone number his name is alan,770-500-5683 theses trucks are in georgia a little south of cedertown ga, they all ran when parked his dad had a small trucking company,he also has a reefer trailer with a briggs and stration engine on front one of the orig reefers he is a great guy and he knows his trucks well.
  20. you're welcome. I saw it on facebook. Tom (anteater)
  21. The ones that really scare me is the brown recluse. I knew a couple of people that were bitten by them. I don't know that i've ever even seen one, but I still get Jo to put my gloves and boots on first in case there's a spider in them.
