  1. Too late- I had to clean mine out today, Jeff traded it. He got $47,000 on it, so he was happy as a puppy with 2 peters. Meanwhile, i'll be the one dragging up Sandstone 20 mph.
  2. no replies yet...that's kinda odd.
  3. Sorry bigen...really sorry to hear. I just got home too, and this was the first post I read. I went back to work pretty quick myself when I was in that situation. Some people said "I thought you'd take a week anyway" but it seemed to help me deal with everything by going back to work after a couple of days. Take care, Tom (anteater)
  4. No, I was talking about the big hoop earrings. Hadn't noticed the glasses 'til now.
  5. I've seen pictures of those in American Rifleman. 'Course you've got Spot as a first defense.
  6. all good ideas. A loaded snub nose .38 special revolver in the nightstand drawer could be as useful as wasp spray also. I've never shot anyone of course, really couldn't even imagine shooting anybody. But when somebody breaks into your home, that's a different story- you never know what their intentions are. I wouldn't hesitate for an instant to shoot them. My favorite part of the NRA magazine is "The Armed Citizen".
  7. Here's one Rob drove when he was in the Navy in the submarine recovery unit. It was brand new then.
  8. I looked at Delco alternators online, the one I have and every one listed in their product line were all negative ground. Leece-Neville had a bi-directional one that looks identical to the one I took off for $333. I should try to find the place in Roanoke that rebuilds them and get mine rebuilt. Wrote the name of it on a piece of paper- wonder what I did with that...the original rebuilder is now a Fleet Pride, they told me about the other place. Called Metro rebuilders in Roanoke this morning (Monday)- that's the other place. They have a rebuilt Leece-Neville, positive ground, on the shelf for $128. That's my plan.
  9. you have to select "more reply options", as hatcity said. then you should see "attach files" and "browse" in the lower left corner of the reply box. next thing ya' know everybody will be screwing with everybody's pitchers.
  10. The truck is definately positive ground, alternator- I don't know, I thought if I connected it like the one that came off- what I get for thinkin' again-it would work, but it's not right.
  11. I went and got a longer alternator belt today- it turned out to be too long of course, so I have to go back to Carquest next weekend. Didn't have time today because I forgot I had to disconnect the pump shaft from the crank to get the belts off so it took a little longer. That's not a problem. What is a problem is that I connected the wires to the alternator. The old alternator had a negative and a positive terminal on it. So I connected the wire from the positive terminal to the "battery terminal on the new one, and the one that was connected to the negative terminal to the ground screw. Wrong! I only turned one battery on and the wire connected to the ground screw got too hot to touch in seconds. Seems like that's the way the old one was connected, except it had 2 marked terminals, negative and positive, and the new one just had a "battery" terminal and the ground screw. Hope I didn't ruin another alternator...summich is gonna cause me to pull what's left of my hair out! I might have to hire Mike to fly somebody in that knows something, because apparently I do not. Gonna go broke buying alternators pretty quick, if I don't end up burning the truck up first.
  12. I was wrong again- it's not an elephant, it's a pachyderm, and not an F-150 but an F-250.
  13. to upload from the gallery you have to save the picture first- just right click on it, then left click "save as" pictures, documents, or whatever. That's how I repost Rowdy's and others pictures.
  14. well whaddya know, I found it! Looks like the F-150 he was hauling it on though instead of the Ranger.
  15. that's where I get a lot of bungees- pick up broken ones and tie them in a square knot.
  16. just wanted him to know what kind of truck it was, if the hood was closed he'd still be trying to identify it.
  17. Oh no, nothing like that- i'd just let it cool off, checked the radiator, filled it up, and had it running about 900 rpms. to see where the antifreeze was going. I've put a gallon of antifreeze in it every morning since the radiator was fixed. No drips, no visible leaks, but a gallon still disappears every day. Let it get to almost 200 degrees and still didn't see anything.
  18. Jeff gave me some pictures of this B-model today. I think he said it was in California, don't know if a driver delivering there somewhere took them or who's it is, but it's a nice looking truck. Copy's aren't that great.
  19. Too bad I deleted that picture. I had a picture of Rowdy transporting an elephant in that little Ranger- a full grown elephant! It was covered with a tarp, but you could tell it was an elephant, without a doubt. That's what happened to his springs. By the way Rowdy, did you trade trucks recently?..I thought I saw you.
  20. I pick dozens of them up off the ground every day- i'll mail you a hook. I'll send two so you'll have a spare.
  21. I've patched tarps with Gorilla Tape- good stuff! I use the same heavy duty industrial grade Duck Tape for my light jobs.
