  1. You're absolutely right Randy, I apoligize. You're my only true friend. I wish you were here too, that would be great to actually get a bunch of us together sometime, somewhere. Now, the answers- just oak, some green maple, and fresh basil outa tha herb patch. Double grates is only because I took the grates out of the offset fire box and layed them up top, and smoked the loin on the top part, I reseasoned all the grates first. No marinade, just bought the loin this morning, came home and put it on the grill. I did coat it generously with my homemade rub however. Humidity was 78%, temp. was 81 degrees, barometric pressure was 30.87963983486321877 and steady, wind was light, 3-5 mph. from the southwest. My bank acct. no. is br-54965439786674211564900643216429000699422116743228890267466-0000444280017548913245777889000222187944327832445094328999226789906784221556789885543000112396654. I even have special checks, they're 14.6784369543899543 inches long so all the numbers fit on them. If you have any moe questions, feel free to ax, I have nothing to hide, and i'm always honest. ...and i'm striving to be as funny as rhasler is-i'll keep trying.
  2. Come to think of it, Rowdy you're the only one that didn't make fun of my new unit, so I guess you're my only true friend! Oh,..I made fun of your Thermoking unit on top of your cab...forgot about that- never mind.
  3. I tried out my new unit today...cooked a pork loin- but i'm not saying anything. I'll just let the pictures tell the story...my vocabulary isn't big enuff to describe how delicious this pork loin was anyway. Only smoked it for 4 hours, and it was-oops, forgot-I ain't sayin nuthin!
  4. You could just skip all that "how to drive a 13 speed" training. Here's what I would do... trust me, i'm a moron- you drove a 10 speed, you drove a pupwood truck with a 2 speed axle before, so just watch a few youtube videos, and if there's any questions just ax Freightrain- he's stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before.
  5. Yeah Randy, I agree totally, and -WHAT?..Fresh peas?..what tha heck are you talking about Randy, Spam and peas? That don't make no sense! Treet is pretty good too, and cheaper- that can of Spam don't come cheap! That's because Spam is the the state food of Hawawii, they try to buy all of it. Saw that on TV, so it must be true. Also saw that Hawwawiians (whatever) hate everybody from the mainland, so...eff 'em. Danged Hawiians(whatever). Never knew they hated the rest of us before, so I don't care if they have any Spam or not.
  6. Yeah, I've been driving a while and the only thing better than a 13 is the 18 speed, but, again, you won't need to split the low side so it's kind of redundant. You normally drive the 18 speed like the 13 speed anyway. I think the 13 or 18 speed is the transmission to have, but the one truck I drove with the RTO14613 was just junk- the transmission was junk that is, not the truck. It just had too much slack in the counter gears, even when brand new, but it might have been a lemon. Hell, it might have been assembled wrong at the factory for all I know. H.H. had it at Truck Enterprises twice while I was driving it with transmission problems, then he traded it and the people that bought it to haul logs, also a local company, had to put a transmission in it soon after they bought it. They might be a fine transmission but that one experience turned me against them. Good luck with it if that's what you decide to go with.
  7. I always carry a can or two of Spam in my unit. Never know when you might need it, and it's really not bad. It's also good fried, with eggs, or with fried potatoes and onions. But not bad at all between two slices of bread with some mustard when you're hungry- as my Daddy used to say "it beats a snowball". "Spam...it's what's for dinner"- author unknown.
  8. Ain't that a shame...the fine citizens of Daingerfield would not have to worry about being blown off the map if Randy had only taken his camera...can't believe he'd leave home without it!
  9. That Olds is sitting on rt. 122 between Bedford and Moneta with a "for sale" sign on the windshield. There's also a black '67 or '68 Camaro for sale in Moneta. It has $20,000 on the windshield, don't know the price on the Olds.
  10. reminds me of the time the air wipers quit on the F-model I was driving. I hit on the windshield with my fist, thinking they were just stuck- sometimes i'd have to stop and get out and start them moving by hand before they'd start working. So, nothing happened when I hit the windshield, it was pouring rain, so I hit it again a little harder and broke the windshield. Found out the arm had come loose from the motor, so I stopped at the truckstop and bought a bottle of rain-x.
  11. Saw this twin steer Mack parked along rt. 20 in Leivasy, West Virginia. Of course that's not all I saw this week, I saw all this stuff- a gray R-model in Mt. Crawford, Va. a red R-model in Montvale, Va. An Oshkosk snow plow in Mt. Storm, W.V. This is the old Diamond Reo place in Uniontown, Pa. There's even 2 Diamond Reo's out back, one conventional cab, one cabover. Here's a nice firetruck for sale in Petersburg, W.V- a one ton International 4 wheel drive. The pole blocked the first picture, the second one was taken in the mirror! I like this Oldsmobile too. I had a '70 Cutlass Supreme, probably the best car I ever had. And last but not least, I saw this good looking Peterbilt! It's missing a front hubcap so I fixed it so no one would notice.
  12. And if it doesn't quite smell funny enough, there's always this-
  13. I sometimes apply a light coat of lube to the shaft too, but not always.
  14. You ain't foolin' nobody Rowdy- you know it's hot!
  15. Yep, it's bad. Picked the tomatoes when I got home today, but the whole garden is just about dried up and blown away. Did you trade 'ol blackie, or will Spot be seen cruisin' Daingerfield in it on Saturday nights now?
  16. Yes, congratulations on your new unit! By the way Randy, that's a nice big picture you got there-thank you.
  17. 99 for today's high?!! wow!

    2. randyp

      randyp

Outside condenser motor went out last night, I first suspected capacitor, but, alas, its motor itself, one those sealed lubed jobs, trying to locate motor now, getting the runaround though, AC people suck!

    3. randyp

      randyp

nope, had motor tested, it was capacitor, dual duty one, nobody had one, southern engineered and wired a single duty paralled with double duty and all is working now, total cost,,20 bucks, and a lot of head scratching on wiring

  18. No, he wants a Peterbilt cab, nothing else will do.
  19. But that Craftsman 1/4" drive ratchet is about 37 years old, wrench about the same age best I can recollect.
  20. thank you...thank you very much.
  21. They had these "units" right beside the one I bought at Tractor Supply. They're nice, I just didn't need the gas grill.
  22. Thanks leversole, great pictures!
  23. dammit again! I hate to hurt one's feelings...
