  1. And they called these Sightliners.
  2. It's the same all over. Pretty much been that way everywhere i've ever worked, which is not a lot of places. "We ain't got no money,so you've gotta do this, that, and the other...". But taking off to Florida whenever you want and getting a new Cadillac is never a problem. It doesn't really bother me because I realize I work for them, they don't work for me.I've worked for the same family for almost 32 years now, started with the guys' Grandfather that I drive for now, and they've always been very good to me. I don't have to do much of anything I don't want to, and i'm sure that wouldn't be the case with many larger companies, plus i'm sure i'd have to drive a POS truck instead of this nice Peterbilt.
  3. Uhhh...oh...oh yeah,I noticed them immediately,if not sooner,just didn't say anything
  4. I always stop at Big Boy's truckstop in Kenly, but free is good. I like free, but I won't be in the area anyway.
  5. Great! Jo loves bingo, that's what she was doing when the PC quit.
  6. finally got computer working again.Had to run new cable from dish to modem, replaced modem too.now I gotta bury all the cable again. The repairman thinks lightning damaged the transmitter and cable. Didn't actually hurt the PC itself.

...as if anybody noticed I was missing...

  7. Yeah, everybody wanted the new Titan and they gave it to Bonecrusher because he'd been there a long time. I thought it was the same one they put the new guy in,I don't know what became of Bonecrusher.
  8. I've only seen 1 or 2 Titans, but see right many Lonestars. The more I see them the better I like 'em,sharp looking trucks.
  9. 3 dead cylinders? That should take care of it-you'll be blowing those company trucks doors off again
  10. Yeah, I like the 48/102 Fontaine Phantom I pull,it's a great trailer. I whined, cried, and bitched for 3 weeks when they had to send it to Washington with a radioactive load. Just got it back this week. It's got a tool box on it where I keep my beveled wood, coil racks, and rubber mats-that's what I missed the most. Can't have too many tool boxes. We just got 4 new 53' aluminum Fontaines. Good looking trailers, the tail lights are one solid bar with LED's instead of the individual lights.
  11. A Ravens is a mighty fine trailer. Of all the trailers we've got the Dorsey's are the worst. They're combo's though, steel frame rails with aluminum floors. You can load a single coil on them and they bend in the middle like a boomerang when you go around a curve.
  12. Great pictures there! I went down the old crooked road with the switchbacks and across the dam itself years ago. Pulled over at the end to look it over, but I don't think cameras had been invented at that time. Very impressive sight to see anyway.
  13. I drove several N14's,years of trouble free driving. Last truck before the Pete was a W900 with 525 N14, but I believe the best pulling one was a 9400 IH with a 460 N14 and 4.10 rears that was turned up to 500 hp.
  14. I couldn't figure why they gave the new driver a Titan, and one of the big trailers- he wrecked it twice in 2 days. He said the biggest load he had hauled before was 10 1/2 yards of concrete, so I don't know if he'd ever pulled a trailer before, maybe just drove a concrete mixer-not that there's anything wrong with driving a mixer. They probably should have put him in a Western Star that had already been turned over 4 or 5 times and gave him a regular trailer to start out with.
  15. reminds me of the last time they had all that rain in southern Illinois.
  16. I always heard the old single turbo 550's were a lot better, and I haven't seen anything to make me believe otherwise. I have to say, a 550 Cat is an awesome piece of equipment when it's right-that is,engine light's not on- best pulling truck I ever drove.
  17. I read the free truck newspaper that you pick up at all the truckstops, can't remember the name of it,but I know enough to know those Pittsburgh Power guys know their shit("stuff",if it's before 10:00 pm)! Jeff (my truck owner/boss) got rid of a W900 with a C-16 600 Cat last year because he thought it would eventually blow a head gasket, but Pittsburgh Power tells you exactly why the head gaskets blow, and how to prevent it when you put head gaskets on them.
  18. Looks really delicious...
  19. It's a 2006 C-15 acert, 550 with the twin turbos. I've had about 15 intake valve actuator faults. Doesn't take long to fix, but it gets aggravating because it happens so frequently. Each tag represents a trip to Carter Cat, and I didn't start keeping them as souveniers until I accumulated a bunch of them!
  20. Indeed! I even took a picture of a train engine with whitewall tires this week!
  21. I should have said Cat shops. I've just had lots of minor Cat engine trouble,no major problems or issues of any kind with Peterbilt.
  22. more funny stuff...

  24. Old Bill sent these jokes about the south in an e-mail- The owner of a golf course in Georgia was confused about paying an invoice, so he decided to ask his secretary for some mathematical help. He called her into his office and said, "Y'all graduated from the University of Georgia and I need some help. If I wuz to give yew $20,000, minus 14%, how much would you take off?" The secretary thought a moment, and then replied, "Everthang but my earrings." A man in North Carolina had a flat tire, pulled off on the side of the road, and proceeded to put a bouquet of flowers in front of the car and one behind it. Then he got back in the car to wait. A passerby studied the scene as he drove by, and was so curious he turned around and went back. He asked the fellow what the problem was. The man replied, "I got a flat tahr." The passerby asked, "But what's with the flowers?" The man responded, "When you break down they tell you to put flares in the front and flares in the back. I never did understand it neither." A Tennessee State trooper pulled over a pickup on I-65. The trooper asked, "Got any ID?" The driver replied, "Bout whut?" A Texas Sheriff pulled up next to the guy unloading garbage out of his pick-up into the ditch. The Sheriff asked, "Why are you dumping garbage in the ditch? Don't you see that sign right over your head." "Yep," he replied. "That's why I'm dumpin' it here, 'cause it says: 'Fine For Dumping Garbage.' "
  25. Nice pictures!
