  1. A Ravens is a mighty fine trailer. Of all the trailers we've got the Dorsey's are the worst. They're combo's though, steel frame rails with aluminum floors. You can load a single coil on them and they bend in the middle like a boomerang when you go around a curve.
  2. Great pictures there! I went down the old crooked road with the switchbacks and across the dam itself years ago. Pulled over at the end to look it over, but I don't think cameras had been invented at that time. Very impressive sight to see anyway.
  3. I drove several N14's,years of trouble free driving. Last truck before the Pete was a W900 with 525 N14, but I believe the best pulling one was a 9400 IH with a 460 N14 and 4.10 rears that was turned up to 500 hp.
  4. I couldn't figure why they gave the new driver a Titan, and one of the big trailers- he wrecked it twice in 2 days. He said the biggest load he had hauled before was 10 1/2 yards of concrete, so I don't know if he'd ever pulled a trailer before, maybe just drove a concrete mixer-not that there's anything wrong with driving a mixer. They probably should have put him in a Western Star that had already been turned over 4 or 5 times and gave him a regular trailer to start out with.
  5. reminds me of the last time they had all that rain in southern Illinois.
  6. I always heard the old single turbo 550's were a lot better, and I haven't seen anything to make me believe otherwise. I have to say, a 550 Cat is an awesome piece of equipment when it's right-that is,engine light's not on- best pulling truck I ever drove.
  7. I read the free truck newspaper that you pick up at all the truckstops, can't remember the name of it,but I know enough to know those Pittsburgh Power guys know their shit("stuff",if it's before 10:00 pm)! Jeff (my truck owner/boss) got rid of a W900 with a C-16 600 Cat last year because he thought it would eventually blow a head gasket, but Pittsburgh Power tells you exactly why the head gaskets blow, and how to prevent it when you put head gaskets on them.
  8. Looks really delicious...
  9. It's a 2006 C-15 acert, 550 with the twin turbos. I've had about 15 intake valve actuator faults. Doesn't take long to fix, but it gets aggravating because it happens so frequently. Each tag represents a trip to Carter Cat, and I didn't start keeping them as souveniers until I accumulated a bunch of them!
  10. Indeed! I even took a picture of a train engine with whitewall tires this week!
  11. I should have said Cat shops. I've just had lots of minor Cat engine trouble,no major problems or issues of any kind with Peterbilt.
  12. more funny stuff...
  13. .
  14. Old Bill sent these jokes about the south in an e-mail- The owner of a golf course in Georgia was confused about paying an invoice, so he decided to ask his secretary for some mathematical help. He called her into his office and said, "Y'all graduated from the University of Georgia and I need some help. If I wuz to give yew $20,000, minus 14%, how much would you take off?" The secretary thought a moment, and then replied, "Everthang but my earrings." A man in North Carolina had a flat tire, pulled off on the side of the road, and proceeded to put a bouquet of flowers in front of the car and one behind it. Then he got back in the car to wait. A passerby studied the scene as he drove by, and was so curious he turned around and went back. He asked the fellow what the problem was. The man replied, "I got a flat tahr." The passerby asked, "But what's with the flowers?" The man responded, "When you break down they tell you to put flares in the front and flares in the back. I never did understand it neither." A Tennessee State trooper pulled over a pickup on I-65. The trooper asked, "Got any ID?" The driver replied, "Bout whut?" A Texas Sheriff pulled up next to the guy unloading garbage out of his pick-up into the ditch. The Sheriff asked, "Why are you dumping garbage in the ditch? Don't you see that sign right over your head." "Yep," he replied. "That's why I'm dumpin' it here, 'cause it says: 'Fine For Dumping Garbage.' "
  15. Nice pictures!
  16. I drove one to Hammond,In. and back twice this week with no breakdowns. In fact,i've had over 9 days of trouble free trucking now. I do have all the Pete shops in the U.S, Canada, and Mexico on speed dial, but that's just a precautionary measure.
  17. Think I found a similar picture on Hank's site, but I was afraid to post it because of the picture police- http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/aths/pleasanton/05-26/20100526_dsc_2999.jpg
  18. That's a 75 ton prime mover,should handle her with no problem.
  19. Got mine's in the mail this week, ordered it last fall. In fact, it arrived on my birthday and i'd about forgotten about it. Has a listing of all ATHS members and lots of pictures. Here's a few sample pages-
  20. Got a picture of the blue MH for sale in Grayson,Kentucky. It's a little far off the road for a good picture.
  21. Thank you Mike, that is very important. Never heard of Emeril's, i'd like to try it. Tried most of the rest. And Open Pit didn't even place?..hmmmmph!
  22. Wow, that IS cold!
  23. Great job taking pictures of things!
  24. Here's another big Mack sale- this unit has a 700hp. V12 Mack engine!..never heard of such! Lots more Macks they're auctioning too.
