I'm pretty sure some of the giant "unloaders" I've seen were Wabcos too, unloading logs in Emporia. I believe it's Meritor-Wabco nowadays.

See,I know my history too. I had a picture of a red Euclid I saw in Ohio,but I must have deleted it.Looked odd to see one that wasn't green,as that was the only one i've ever seen that wasn't.

More pictures of the week- This is a mill roll I brought back to the steel mill in Petersburg from Milton,W.V. I took one up there to be refurbished,and brought this one back. It shined like chrome when I loaded it,looked like this when I stopped by the shop. They have many mill rolls at the mill. And they have a Euclid-a green one. A new KW at the shop-these have the new Paccar engine,the new Freightliners have DD15's. Drivers are already complaining about the lack of power the paccar engines have.

Couldn't be a Euclid,they're all green.Matter of fact,there was a Euclid parked over to the far side of this truck but I didn't take a picture.

I asked him if he had a pipeline to his house from the mtn. dew plant and he said no,he had a bulk tank of it on his roof.

There's a couple of places in Va.that I know of that pay top dollar for old lumber like that. You probably couldn't get much for it now though.

I was at Thurston Metals in Lynchburg one cold morning to unload years ago and the driver of one of their 2 trucks came out and started his truck, an F-model V8 Mack. As soon as it started he had it pretty much wide open and about 3 seconds later there went the oil filter rolling out from under it and across the parking lot.

Yep, I only had about 21,000 on coming back last Thursday. I don't like driving at night when it's slick because it's hard for me to "read" the pavement. I can't tell what's wet,dry,frozen,paved,or dirt,but between that or less traffic on the road I opted for the latter.

Last one I went to was in Salem...think it's Kroger,and they charged $300 for the lumper service. I unloaded a flatbed load in Cincinnati this morning,reloaded a flatbed load in Aurora,In. both tarped loads,and i've been back home over an hour.

That's the best thing about Fox News-they got all hot babes. But back to the story-yeah,a cell phone can get you in all sorts of trouble. Long story short-A speaker at one of our safety meetings told us about a driver that was involved in an accident and of course he was sued,they subpoenaed (or however you spell it) his cell phone records and proved he had falsified his logs,so he was guilty because he shouldn't have been where he was in the first place. I could be in Minnesoter,call Rob to chat,but if my logbook says i'm in Hawawii and they go back and see the cell tower was in International Falls at that particular time,i'm screwed. I've got my phone set where the gps is off except when you dial 911, but they can still tell what tower your signal was bouncing off of anytime you make a call.

You got that right! I've unloaded at grocery warehouses before with a dry van,never a pleasant experience.

Yeah, I don't care for it any more. If it starts to get bad,I look for a place to stop,where I used to keep going-they can call me what they want,I don't care. I've had trucks passing me running 60-65 mph on snow many times.It was snowing when I was going through Chicago headed to Wisconsin last week.Some truck driver was on the cb arguing with someone he thought was going too slow.He kept saying it was 34 degrees and the road was not slick,it was just wet. I stopped to pay the toll and took off spinning thru the first few gears,with 46,000 lbs. on. About a mile further up the road a pickup went off the road,through the ditch,and up against the wall.And that other driver was still headed south saying it wasn't slick. I stopped north of Indianapolis on the way back and waited until midnight to leave.It was still slick all the way back,but at least there's not as much traffic to deal with at that time.

You'd get used to it It was one below in Orchard Park last week and when I folded my tarp the smallest I could get it was about the size of a mini van. Usually these beams don't have to be tarped,as they are stored outside in the weather at the mill. Some places want them tarped in winter because they don't want road salt on them-I can kinda understand that. But a few places want them tarped year round and that makes no sense to me. One of our drivers took a load to Masury,Ohio-they want them tarped year round-took his paper work inside,then came back out and untarped the load in the parking lot. When the guy came out to get him he told him to put the tarps back on,it had to be tarped when he pulled inside,or either he could take it back-and it was a sunny day. He put them back on,but he won't go there anymore,and I don't blame him. Everybody hates going to Masury because they're such a-holes.

I saw lots of small holes in the sides,down low,with oars sticking out of them. Unfortunately you can't see them in the pictures.
