  1. could it be?..no one knows,but?..i'm just sayin'.
  2. just checked the atlas, all routes are restricted to trucks in Yellowstone except U.S.191. You could take 20 to 287 to 191 up into Montana. I've never been in the area so I don't know the roads but I bet it's beautiful country-take some pictures. I took a load of piling to Williston last year but I came from the east. Lots of sunflowers in North Dakota there,eh?
  3. I do not know, but I would think that if you own it and are using it for personal use and not for hire there shouldn't be any hassle. But i've thought wrong before. I'd give Paul Van Scott a call,he's a smart fellow and probably knows the rules better than I do.
  4. yes it would. Delivered to Boston Valley Terra Cotta,Orchard Park,New York. We go there pretty regularly, but this was the first time i'd been there since last winter when 219 was snow covered all the way. This time I was soaked with sweat by the time I got my tarps folded.
  5. Went all the way to Orchard Park, and all I saw was this Autocar But coming home today we saw this fine looking Peterbilt on rt. 24 between Concord and Rustburg. Took this out the back window of the pickup. And I tried to get a picture of a nice looking single axle Mack dump in Rainelle,W.V. but it didn't come out too good-good reflection of my orange vest though.
  6. finally!
  7. I'll be home tomorrow. Made a trouble-free ( trouble-free except for the main fuel line from the tank that goes into the filter rubbed against something and fuel was leaking all over West Virginia.Had to wait in Keyser, West Virginia from about 3 o:clock Sunday until Truck Enterprises opened at 8am Monday morning.Sitting in a big gravel pull-off across the street from them...no AC,no shade,no nuthin'. Got so hot around 5 o:clock I cranked it up and ran the AC for about 10 minutes and could look out the passenger window and see diesel fuel running across the ground-on a gravel lot! So I cut it off and sweated some more...but otherwise trouble-free ) trip to Warren,Ohio and back to Lynchburg, then made a trip to Orchard Park,N.Y. and loaded lumber in Lackawanna coming to Staunton,Va. Unloaded there this morning and picked up a load at Riverville going to Beloit,Wisconsin to deliver Monday.
  8. My brother used to fill plastic bottles with water and freeze them. When he was in the field on a tractor all day he'd have cold water as they melted. A 2 liter bottle or 2 will last a long time...just a thought. (Paul Van Scott)
  9. AMEN BROTHER! (Bulldog man)
  10. yes I do. He probably called triple A for directions because he apparently made it to Raleigh. He didn't take the truck route though,74 to Cinncinati,275 to the AA,64 to Charleston,77 to Mount Airy,52 to Winston-Salem,and 40 to Raleigh. He was in Shreveport last time I heard from him.
  11. Show and tell for the day- I was looking around in the tool box for something yesterday and saw these old tools that I haven't used for years. The point setting tool and brake spoon were mine from when I worked at a garage from '74 to '77. The others were given to me by my grandfather when he retired from Newman Tire Co. in Farmville,Va. Might be kind of rare. Those are real Channellock pliers, the smallest i've ever seen. The odd looking box end wrench was to hold the end of a shock absorber while you tighten it. The round thing i'm holding is to install points-it has a spring loaded screw holder on one end and a magnet on the other end. The curved wrench is just old, made in New York City.
  12. Looks really good! Anything that old that's been sitting that long around here would be a big pile of rust. Starter in the floor-haven't seen that for years of course, my Daddy had a pickup about that age when I was a wee little feller with the starter in the floorboard.

  16. We do indeed!
  17. Glad I apoligized to Rob for nothing before, so now i'm covered. I thought he left last night and was hammer down to Raleigh now...so I decided to give him a call at 3:35 am- 2:35am in central Illinois, thinking he was probably in Ohio or Kentucky by now. He was not.
  18. is off to Lynchburg to load for Warren,Ohio for Monday delivery.

  19. ...gittin' there!
  20. Found it-no mention of the bumper though. Has a 400 Cummins and 13 spd, along with Freightliner and Peterbilt parts. Not that there's anything wrong with that,it's still a great looking truck. It's also seen near the beginning of this youtube video-
  21. That looks like the one a man from up around Moundsville,West Virginia restored. If it is there was a story in either "Wheels of Time" or "Old Time Trucks" about it a while back. I'll see if I can locate it. Had all late model running gear in it though.
  22. I went to Florida this week, but only went as far as Fernandina Beach. I was afraid to go any farther south-might've run across hatcity. Took some 55' beams to the port. Hung this much off the front, so I only had this much off the rear. Saw these Mack dumps for sale at Joker Joe's Truckstop. Picked up some posts in Ehrhardt,S.C. to bring back to Troy,Va. Unloaded lumber in Moneta Monday morning and took a picture of the A-40 Mack sitting in the field. I posted pictures of it here a while back, maybe a couple years ago. Now you can barely see it, but it's still there. Unfortunately,I must have deleted all the original pictures I had of it.
  23. The old Freightliner dump truck with air ride they have at work is pretty scary to drive loaded-feels like you're gonna tip over all the time! This log truck was pulling a pup with about as many logs on it as was on the truck but I didn't get it in the picture.
  24. Saw a remembrance for Fred Craig in "Old Time Trucks" so I googled him and found that he had indeed passed away, age 66. He owned Fred Craig Transfer and was "the man" at the Winchester Tri-State ATHS show. After Old Bill posted the pictures that I took at Winchester on his website ( http://www.thedieselgypsy.com/Tom%20Blackwell-truck%20show.htm ) Fred Craig sent word that if I wanted to go and take pictures for them the following year, he would pay for mine and Bill's food and lodging. Never heard any more from him. Here's some of his trucks-he loved them old GMCs.
  25. looks like something I would do.
