  1. ...now that's funny right there
  2. I don't know anything about the company but he likes old trucks, is an ATHS member, and has several restored trucks of his own- so I like him!
  3. I have a Kyocera phone with a camera, but I seldom use it. I always use my trusty Kodak digital camera.
  4. Hi Mackdaddy!..well, i've been running my ass off the last 3 weeks-going south too. 2 trips to Mobile week before last,New Orleans last week, and Eagle Pass, Texas this week. Came all the way to Jackson, Tn. to reload though, and that's going to New Jersey. I just hope it lasts...
  5. got a driveby picture of those bullnose KWs.
  6. I remember the first model truck I made. It was a cabover Freightliner in the early '70s. I actually got it for my brother for Christmas but I put it together. You can't find model kits around here anywhere. K-Marts and Wal-Marts used to have them but I haven't seen any lately. Guess you have to find a hobby shop, eh? I do have a few diecast models that I bought.
  7. Well...anyhow, I put a lap belt on the driver's seat in the mixer. Whenever somebody rides with me I strap in and say "if we turn over you're on your own".
  8. ...until Jo said "how long are you gonna stare at that picture?!!". Didn't know she was looking. I said "i'm just researching a post I saw on BMT".
  9. great! the Sasparilla truck should keep him busy for years, with all the bottles, spokes, and chain links to color.
  10. ...reminds me of the one where the man goes into the bar and orders 12 martinis. Can't tell it for fear of getting banned though. I'll just tell the punch line- he said "no, that's ok- if twelve of them won't kill the taste, i'm sure 13 won't". good one, eh?
  11. Just find a Holiday Inn Express and sleep in their parking lot...couldn't hurt.
  12. yeah...we be smart too. driving a Mack actually makes you smart. Larry is double smart 'cause he drives a Mack AND stays at Holiday Inn Express periodically.
  13. I'm always looking for old trucks during my travels. I spotted these 3 B-models near Auburn, Al. last week when I was on the way to Mobile. Too bad the 4-wheeler obstructed my view when I got a picture this week. Then about 10 miles or so east of Montgomery I saw at least 3 bullnose KW's. I didn't get a picture because I was unprepared, but found them on Google Earth's street view. They look to be complete and unrestored. I also saw a mashed Peterbilt, and a nice looking Pete with the track vehicle on the trailer. I don't know what the military vehicle is, but it's a cool looking truck and i've seen dozen's of them on the road lately.
  14. hmmm...copy...paste...search...WOW!-awesome!
  15. maybe you should give one of those mask things with a filter in it a try, before it's too late... Just a thought.
  16. Thanks Mike, i'll remember that if I go there again. There's plenty of places to pull over and park all along where I took that picture. I didn't of course because I didn't have time. Had to be in Foley by 3 o'clock to load. Got there at 2, time to spare, but not a lot to spare. About 5 minutes after I got to Azek Building Materials 2 more trucks came in to load. Good place to load, I just hate where i'm going. I might have seen Lambert's on tv before. I remember seeing some restaurant on the Travel Channel where they throw the rolls to you.
  17. hmmmm...I use an Astatic too...never had any problems. Is the spring shorted on a wire or anything?
  18. unfortunately I did not see any boobage. There's lots of boobage to be seen at flashyourrack.com though. I did see planes, trains, and automobiles. Even a battleship- the USS Alabama in Mobile. First extended hood locomotive i've seen. Plane was over I-285 in Atlanta. Gibson's truck parts is in Cowpens, S.C. I've seen B-models and H-models there from 85 but I haven't had time to stop and look around yet.
  19. reminds me of a song- "it's the second week of deer camp, and all the guys are here- we drink, play cards, and shoot the bull but never shoot no deer. The only time we leave the camp is when we go for beer- the second week of deer camp-the greatest time of year!"
  20. it's a long ride down I-85 from Petersburg. 836 miles to the state port in Mobile. Had to lay over in Montgomery Tuesday night to load sand in Elmore Wednesday. Was late getting unloaded Tuesday because of Mardi Gras-truck control was closed at the port because it was "Fat Tuesday" and we couldn't get escorts. There was 3 of us there and none of us had a twic card, and you can't get into the ports without a twic card or an escort. We found a driver there with a twic card and he took our loads in and unloaded them for us.We dropped our trailers and took all the chains off but 2 and he took them in for $40 cash- not bad really, the escorts charge $35 an hour anyway. I was last to get unloaded, so I ended up laying over. Unloaded the sand in Seaford, Va. about lunchtime Thursday and was happy to get another load to Mobile- I was thinking Monday delivery. But nooooo, it had to deliver Friday and by the time I left Petersburg Thursday it was 5 pm. No more sand Friday, so I had to go to Foley, Al. Friday evening and load building materials going to Phoenixville, Pa....to close to Philadelphia for me-blehhh!
  21. got an e-mail from Bill- Hi Tom; (This is my form letter, will catch you later.) Just to let you know that my web site will be on line again, with all the contributed pages. A teacher approached me about reinstating my web site as he was using it for his students as a learning tool on transportation. Whatever you had on my site before will return the same. The sponsorship is for the next 2 years to start with. The web site is now on line in pieces. Searching and putting the missing pieces back together again is time consuming. Have patience, it is in progress.................. If you wish to link back to my/your pages, please do so. In the meantime, I apologize for not being able to have kept the web site active. Take care; drive safe............... William (Diesel Gypsy) Weatherstone. --- http://www.thedieselgypsy.com/ ---
