  1. Why not...OK, Hello there.

  2. I keep the back of my seat way more forward than is most comfortable, simply because I don't want to be too comfortable. I feel it keeps me more alert and less likely to take a short nap at the wheel...I really couldn't care less what I look like to others- except when I drove a GMC Astro with the huge windshield. If you were scratching your nuts in one of them everybody knew it!
  3. 5' 4''? So, how many Chicago phone books do you have to pile in the seat to see over the dash? Do you put the blocks on the pedals or on your shoes like the kid in "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?". Just curious.
  4. That is a problem. I like the suspended clutch pedal too, but i'm kinda used to the Peterbilt now. Your foot can slip off the pedal really easily, especially when your shoes are wet or muddy. Had to get used to no air in the seat too and I don't like it.(OK Freightrain, have at it!) With a usable air ride seat you barely even feel a bump, but if I put any air in the seat at all I could only see about 7 feet in front of me.
  5. I looked at that picture and said "WTF?!! What body part is THAT?" Jo said "that's his ass cheeks". I said "no way!". Then we figured out it was an elbow...but when you first look at it- man, I could have a field day with this picture-but i'm not gonna do it...i'm trying to quit.
  6. I pull a 48' spread axle...am I your idol? Seriously, I think that's the best way to learn. You're fortunate to have someone who's "been there and done that" to teach you everything and show you things rather than just telling you something and that's the end of it. There's nothing like hands on experience that you can learn by hearing someone tell you about it or reading about it. That's what pisses me off about the guys coming out of school- they've been on the road for a year or two and know it all and i'm a fool-"well that ain't how they taught us to do it, my trainer (who probably has 2 and a half years experience) said to do this and do that and you're all wrong..." But you have a good attitude and I feel sure you'll be successful.
  7. thanks a lot...now I feel even older than I'm already is
  8. I've pulled a flatbed over 30 years now...hard to believe, but true.
  9. I have not seen him- but then I haven't been broke down for about 3 weeks now. He'd probably come rescue me if I needed rescuing though. And speaking of missing- hadn't heard from Nocluejoe for a while. He used to call or send a picture once or twice a week, then just stopped. I called him a couple of times and left messages but still never heard anything. I thought maybe he was shunning me, but I found out that he's still alive and well, he called me just now.
  10. gee Larry, so now we know how you really feel, eh? (Canadian) Bulldog Mack you've also got to be wary of people playing "fix that post" and altering other people's replies here. Double L is one of the worst about doing that, but it's all in fun
  11. The PT Cruiser kind of started the retro look, then the Mustangs and Challengers came along, and now the Camaro's back- I always thought if they made a new modern B-model looking cab -bigger of course- it would be a fine looking and very aerodynamic truck. Probably never happen though.
  12. I have the same problem, it's hard to find wide boots that fit me right. Red Wings were some of the best I've had. Had a pair of Rocky wellingtons once and they fit good and were light and comfortable but the soles didn't last long and they couldn't be resoled.
  13. You probably won't see that sumbish until summer, when he'll be spreading more global warming b.s.
  14. Me too! And the hot sauce- not bragging, but I think it's the best i've ever made, had a really good flavor.
  15. We might need a volunteer to go to Tennessee and check on Mike. I'm starting to worry about his well being, he should have reported in by now.
  16. I've been driving in snow all week. Snowed in West Virginia every day this week- probably snowing over there now. Just got back from Orchard Park, N.Y. But I think the slickest road i've ever been on in my life was in Wyoming last year, between Casper and Sheridan. I can believe that about the "hold my beer..."- a Suburban with "University of Wyoming" on the side of it spun out twice but they got it out and took off again both times and passed me like I was sitting still and I never saw it again, like it was bidness as usual.
  17. the weather eye says it's supposed to be back up to 40 here Monday and Tuesday-yay! That's a very accurate weather program for your PC- you can put in your location plus a second location if you want and the temperature will be on the bottom of your screen- it's 19 here and 7 in Elliott Lake, Ontario. Click on the temperature and it gives you the 5 day forecast. Old Bill told me about it a couple of years ago. It's free too...free is good. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/desktop/weathereye/
  18. sounds exactly like what the '77 300 Mack I drove would do when a little short piece of hose would split, letting the turbo "suck air". I carried a piece of heater hose with me and had to replace that hose on the road several times. It was a small hose, about 5 or 6 inches long. I know nothing about a V8.
  19. dammit! just the encouragement I needed...and I was well on my way to recovery.
  20. you shouldn't have posted that picture...you know how I am, and i'm trying to quit...keep telling myself "do not alter that picture...do not add any captions"...but it's tough. I'll just add this one.
