  1. "Amen Brother!"- Bulldog Man
  2. I could not read it without shedding a tear-it describes almost exactly the way it was with my wife before she passed away. Little different situation- She had cancer and I went through it for 2 months, and as I told Bill Sunday I don't know if she even knew I was there or not. But she would get up and do the walking thing too-heart breaking thing to deal with. Your life can just go 180 degrees in a heartbeat, you never know.
  3. I mentioned Old Bill (William Weatherstone) a while back (in May,here on "Odds and Ends"), and the problems he was having. Hadn't heard from him for a while so I called him Sunday to see how he was doing. Not too good... He has a new e-mail address and he told me about this senior's site in Maine he had written some stories about his difficulties for- http://www.timegoesby.net/elderstorytelling/William_weatherstone/ Start at the bottom at Alzheimers Part One and read this-they're dated. Nothing else I can say to add to this... Thanksgiving is coming up...then Christmas-I just think we should all try to help in some way, if just a prayer. My change bucket is about half full again, and I know where it's going and I don't care if I never get new tires for the mixer.
  4. no. besides, they all act like they're smarter than everybody else for some reason.
  5. Great, now i've got one more thing to worry about! I've got 5 coils loaded in the middle of mine now. I'm not an engineer but everything has to have a certain amount of flex to it or it will break. The frame rails look pretty heavy on the phantom, but as soon as I see one of those Revolutions somewhere I'm gonna take a closer look at it. The ad said it doesn't have crossmembers under it, it looked like a flat plate all the way under it in the pictures, so I was wondering how that was gonna work.
  6. Been having all sorts of PC problems ever since I burned the last truck show pictures to a disc. Still think the HP photo program that was installed on the computer clashes with the Kodak program I installed when I got my camera. I couldn't even get online without going to a shortcut to youtube on the desktop and the screen resolution just went haywire and I couldn't get it to adjust back. The desktop icons were half as big as the screen. Ive been everywhere in the control panel trying to fix it but nothing seemed to work. Probably would have helped if I knew what I was looking at. I was just about to take it to a computer shop in Appomattox yesterday when my son Morgan suggested trying the system restore, so I did, going back to the day before the truck show. Seems to be OK so far. Thought things were picking up a little but it's still pretty slow. The week before last I was home until Wednesday evening before I got a load out, and had to be in Florida the next morning with it. Last week I didn't get out until Tuesday. Unloaded in Neville Island Tuesday night but then sat all day Wednesday and most of Thursday before finally getting a load in Sharon, Pa. going to Sanford, Florida. Been running Florida a lot lately. When it gets cold and the snow is up to the bumper Florida loads will probably be hard to come by,eh? (that's Canadian)
  7. Hi everybody, i'm back! ...I didn't really fit in too good over at the Mensa site
  8. Well then, sounds like i've been invited to leave...I know when i'm not wanted. This is the last you'll hear of 'ol other dog. I've found a new site to join- it's been fun...so long everybody.
  9. V8 375, eh? Now that's a hawse!
  10. It would be neat to go to the Holy Land i'm sure, but the only foreign country i've ever really wanted to visit is Canada and that's not likely to happen either. Did step into Mexico once when I was in El Paso- pretty much just to say i'd been there. Went to a little bar and had a beer or three, but I was scared of being kidnapped by bandits the whole time I was there.
  11. I wish i'd known too, would have been nice to have met you. We were there from probably around noon until about 2 o'clock or so.
  12. Rob is not a racist. Nor have I seen anything to indicate that anyone else here is either. It's called freedom of speech...it's mentioned in the constitution of the United States.
  13. He shoulda gotten Chuck Norris to mind the fort for him.
  14. I think they're towing him behind the plane in a glider, attached by a rope. The plan is to cut him loose just before they land and he'll descend by parachute.
  15. Gee...I sure do miss what-ya-macallim. Things just ain't the same 'round here. Cain't pick at Herb- I feel like he'd whip my ass. Morgan's out, he's too nice. Speed's not around enough...Larry's nowhere to be found, nor is Joe...Paul's off galavanting somewhere- AHA! Bollweevil- he's tha' man! Or perhaps Mike... or maybe - someone else...
  16. Took a trip to Colfax, North Carolina today to the antique truck show. It was great, lots of trucks, good turnout, and excellent weather! I'll put the pictures on Flickr or Webshots and post a link as soon as I get them posted. I even bought a 1952 GMC McLean truck-looks like the same scale as my B-61 mixer. Here's the picture link- i'll try to get the rest on tomorrow. http://community.webshots.com/album/575440478tcZoIL?start=0 OK, all the pictures are on Webshots, plus a little video I took of a really nice looking B-61 as it was leaving the show.
  17. I've decided not to go to Wal-Mart anymore. I'm gonna order lettuce and tomatoes online and have it delivered by UPS.
  18. When I renewed my NRA membership a while back they sent me an NRA cap. I was surprised to see the "made in China" tag in it.
  19. Hi Speed-yep, definately a lot of folks jumping off the Obama bandwagon now.
  20. I bet there's some partying going on in Farmington tonight!!!

    And more...
  22. It occurred to me after I got home that she should have thanked me for saving her life, since she apparently would have turned in front of the oncoming traffic and gotten nailed in the passenger side door by a full size pickup if I hadn't been there.
  23. I don't know if this is the biggest ever, but it's a right good sized one!
  24. Didn't have a load today- same as yesterday- so we went over to Wal-Mart in Altavista to pick up a few things. Then after we got home we went back to Wal-Mart to get the head of lettuce and 2 tomatoes that we paid for and left on the counter. I went around by the sawmill to the back entrance and was sitting in the road waitng to make a left into Wal-Mart. Three pickup trucks were approaching from the opposite direction and there was a truck waiting to come out of Wal-Mart. So this woman in a Jeep wagon stops behind me and starts blowing her horn. I just set the emergency brake and put my truck in neutral and went back to see what her problem was. She rolled her window down and said "you can go, you have the right-of-way!!". I said "didn't you see the traffic coming the other way?..no, I guess you didn't because you're on the phone". I walked back to the truck and turned in-Jo said the guy waiting to leave was giving us a thumbs up when I got out-I let Jo out, then parked, then unparked and picked her back up, and this b!#@h was still sitting in that Jeep talking on her phone.
