  1. we have a fleet of pickups that follow us everywhere to pick up all the parts that fall off-there's a pretty big fine for littering these days.
  2. If the drivetrains are original to both units about the real only difference would be the RW series truck, (Superliner) will have a two valve, E-6 series engine, where the R688 will have four valve heads. They are both dependable engines as far as I'm familiar. I'm certain the four valve heads would be a little more efficient in usage, but ...oh-never mind.
  3. nice load of coal there!
  4. probably not,I was just passing by and it was indeed shiny. I was 83' 6'' away from it running 57.8 mph.
  5. I left last Monday going to Broomfield Colorado. Was supposed to unload Wednesday, but we didn't get unloaded until Thursday. Then I loaded coiled wire in Pueblo going to Rome, Ga. so I didn't get home over the weekend.
  6. I weigh 32,600 with a 379 Peterbilt and 48' aluminum spread axle trailer-that's full of fuel (300 gallons),with chains,binders,tarps,8 8' 4x4's,beveled wood,coil racks,tire chains,and other assorted crap I seldom need but gotta have.
  7. reminds me of a joke I once heard- a couple was driving in Wisconsin and were arguing over how to pronounce the name of the town they were passing through. When they stopped to get a bite to eat the man said "I'll find out how to pronounce it". Just before he ordered his food he said "excuse me Miss, but how do you say the name of this place?" The young blond girl behind the counter leaned over and said very slowly "bur-ger-king". hilarious,eh?
  8. I just renewed my NRA membership last week. It's easy, you can join or renew online too.
  9. now that your lift kit's installed you've got enough ground clearance to put a row of little LED chicken lights across the front bumper.
  10. when you weld galvanized steel you should have a fan blowing the fumes away from you or it'll make you sick. I've hauled lots of structural steel to the galvanizing plants in Ashland and Petersburg, Va. and Graham, N.C. And I pick up a lot of coils now where they galvanize them, with no ill affects-i'm pefectly normal
  11. somebody must have saved it, looked like new paint on it. looked pretty sharp just passing by it.
  12. Haven't been blogging much lately...probably people don't read it much anyway, it's harder to find. I have trouble finding it myself, and I cain't put pictures on it. Last week I went to Orchard Park and unloaded in the wind and rain. I left there at 10:30 am and had to be in Warren, Oh. by 2 o'clock to load. Pulled in at exactly 2, with an average speed of 59.4 mph. When I got loaded in Warren I had to go outside and tarp the load of plates-in the pouring rain. I brought that load to Lynchburg, then took a 2 stop load of pipes to Nashville, went back to Knoxville and loaded re-bar to Greenville,S.C. then loaded lumber to Moneta in Newberry. This week I took a load of piling to McKeesport, Pa. and went to East Canton, Oh. to load firebrick to Petersburg. Then from Petersburg to Ambridge, Pa. I reloaded in Pulaski, Pa. to Chantilly, Va. Had a load of guardrail and posts, plus several pallets of buckets, blocks, crates, and other miscilaneous items. The woman at C.H.Robinson said the load required 4 chains and 4 straps-I ended up with 7 chains and 7 straps on it. Then I loaded a 55' load at the mill Friday after I left Chantilly. That delivers Wednesday in Broomfield, Co. I should have left today, but i'll leave in the morning. Last weekend I added the sugar to my wine. Today I strained it and bottled it-tastes pretty good!
  13. indeed-we'd like to see the rest
  14. That's what I always heard-in case of a collision the bumper wouldn't be pushed back against the tire causing steering loss.
  15. thanks again,i've saved them all on my phone.
  16. Gee thanks Greg, next time I have a kression 'bout how to spell sumpin' i'll feel free to ax you.Could I get your home number? Sometimes i'll be awake at 3 or 4 in the morning and think "damn...how do you you spell 'Tucumcari".
  17. you're welcome, any more kressions, feel free to ax.
  18. that is so true! makes absolutely no sense-people will move next door to a race track and complain about noise and start petitions to make all the racecars have mufflers on them when the racetrack was there first.seems like everybody has the "it's all about me" attitude,f#%@ everybody else!
  19. now that i'm a real chemist, I've changed my mind-I would not use it, or bad things may happen.
  20. helluva ideer!
  21. There's a petition going around for those in favor of blowing up the moon- To: NASA The moon needs to be blown up. It sucks and it provides no help for the world. When there is an eclipse, people run the risk of going blind. I think we should send some morons into space to land on the moon and plant bombs to blow it up. The moon is gay. Sincerely, The Undersigned (from 700WLW's website)
  22. well, it just so happens- i'm is a chimist...and it's ok by me. hmmmmm...gotta look up kemist real quick to see what it is.
  23. Hey Larry, I had to pick up a load of firebrick in East Canton this week and ran rt. 30 across out of Pa. Saw a nice looking red and black B-model somewhere between Minerva and East Canton. Didn't get a picture because I wasn't prepared, but it was a red tandem with black fenders, just cab & chassis. Ever get out that way?
  24. Last secret spy picture from Lititz, Ca. No doubt now, he was at the wrong show.
  25. You might be on to something there-they stopped me once and fined me almost $4,000 for crossing a light weight bridge. Then they nailed me for over $100 that time for coming down Hopwood mountain too fast-I was doing 17 mph. in a 10 mph zone. With an empty trailer on a sunny day.The DOT man said "you're supposed to put that truck in the lowest gear you've got". I tried to argue that that would be an all day job and the "common sense" rule should apply, but they still fined me. And they put "Roadrunner" out of service for 8 hrs. one time on I-81 up around Mechanicsburg and he left about 15 minutes too early-fined him over $1,000. It's not about safety, it's all about the money. Same everywhere of course, not just Pa.
