  1. I saw this girl in a truck when I was leaving. She asked me if I would jump her, so I guess the truck wouldn't start. I had my jumper cables in the trunk too, but I told her I didn't have time because the dogs were home by themselves.
  2. Today I saw a big Mack truck on the way home from Appomattox. I was on the way home, I don't know where the big Mack truck was going. I thought about stopping and asking about the little Cargostar parked in the weeds by the upside down Diamond Reo cab, but I didn't. I had to hurry home because Zina from Gladys had a Dr's. appointment in Altavista too and the dogs were home alone. I did make a quick stop for gas at the TA in Winfall though.
  3. Yesterday's project.
  4. Looks like it would make a great smoker too!
  5. Yes, Rob was working on that B model that he had at the time, doing the new drums, king pin bushings, etc. I think a man had given him that truck? It had been parked in a shed for a while I think. And he had run out of fuel a time or two, so when I saw the picture...and it did kinda look like he was reaching for the shirt pocket too- or a quick squeeze 🤣😂🤣 And the other guy was Mark, just because 🤣. But he was a good fit because he was a hard working Mack owner-operator.
  6. I wonder if I could buy the hood off this GMC? Zina needs a new desk.
  7. Thank you, yep I looked back at the pictures and we had just gotten her as a kitten 2 years ago in September.
  8. The transmission was the latest thing to give out on it. I told him he should try to find an 18 speed to put in it, but he was way ahead of me, he was already in the process. He sent us a wedding gift too- He sent some other stuff too, but this caught my attention more. He asked Zina for our address and she wouldn't tell him, saying "you don't have to send us anything". So he asked me, so he could "send a Christmas card" he said. So I sent it to him, not knowing he had already asked her- until he told me. He said "she wouldn't tell me, but I knew you would be just dumb enough to do it". I've seen Vinnie at Macungie a couple of times, last time he bought a fuel tank at the flea market there. I don't remember if that was last year or the year before last now. He has definitely grown up!
  9. So true. I always said I'd like to go out like my Daddy did- he told Ma he didn't feel good and was going to bed. Then she heard him hit the floor in the bedroom, gone, just like that. Unlike my wife who suffered with cancer for two years. Not that we have any say in the matter...
  10. Well, back to the regular routine, here's some pictures of the week- I saw the grinch on a roof. Here's some chicken leg quarters and a piece of pork loin that I saw on the smoker today. I just wanted to smoke something on that smoker, so I picked up the leg quarters and pork loin at the Food Lion in Rustburg on the way back from the dentist in Appomattox yesterday. It is a great smoker- I've cooked a lot of delicious things in the old "smoke shed" as I call it. it was certainly money well spent...but ever since I got the Pit Barrel Cooker that's been my "go to" smoker, it's just so versatile. You can cook on a rack- or hang from hooks- like this whole turkey. And I have cooked 8 racks of ribs at once in it before. ...or get the hinged grate and do both at the same time. Speaking of racks, here's a girl in a car- And on a sad note, the little arrow head cat died. We have no idea why, she was perfectly healthy, at least she appeared to be, and the other morning she was laying on the bed looking out of the window. Then a minute later she was laying under the kitchen table dead. No clue as to why, or what happened, just that quick she was dead.
  11. Oh wow, I didn't know that about Greg Ryder, I remember him.
  12. He's another one who's very active on facebook, and Mark (vision386) is too.
  13. I don't know if this should be in Pictures of the Week, or Former/Dormant Members, or the Christmas post. Anyhow, it's one of my favorite poorly photo-chopped pictures. The date on the computer said Dec. 24, 2011 and I think i've posted it every year since then. This is Rob and Mark, AKA Vision386. Rob ran his B model out of fuel in the corn field one time, that's where this idea came from.
  14. I was headed to some place one time, don't remember where or when. I was still driving the Peterbilt though, and I was going west on I-74 to get there. I called Rob and he rode out from Farmington to the TA truckstop in Peoria on his motorcycle and we talked for a bit. He looked the truck over then we went inside and had a coffee, or iced tea or something. That was the only time I met him.
  15. He sure did.
  16. Now that was a natural progression from the kind and helpful members here to the mean and hateful members in the chainsaw forum to the squirrel to the jarfly- y'all need to keep up, or you'll get left behind! 🤣
  17. You must be talking about Tim Maikshilo.
  18. There's a lot more books that could be added to this list now, these came out a couple of years ago.

  19. ...and he was another one that was a wealth of knowledge, he knew a lot about a lot of things and was quick to offer help to anyone and everyone.
  20. Nope. Kinda like before, he was the all time top poster for a while, a long time actually, then he just disappeared. Then all of a sudden he reappeared and was a regular for a while, then he just disappeared...
  21. I'm really good at that, I do it every day.
  22. wow, talk about gender confused- look at this idiot.
  23. This is a true story- that reminds me of the time we were fishing in the James River near Cartersville when I was just a kid, probably 6 or 8 years old. My older brother found one of these cicadas, or locusts, but we called it a jar fly, and said he should use it for bait. My grandfather said something like "that's ridiculous (but i'm sure that wasn't his exact words), ain't nothing gonna bite that thing". So my brother threw it in the river and the instant it hit the water a big fish jumped up and swallowed it. Probably a bass, but we'll never know. But that actually happened, just like that.
