  1. I don't know, I looked at his Facebook page a while back and there was no indication that he had.
  2. We got this big ass carport and the big green International that runs now and my car are in it, so I still had to go clean the snow off the Zinamobile in case we need to go somewhere. The road is still covered, but the next door neighbor didn't have any trouble getting out.
  3. ...which reminds me of the time the power was out in Richmond one time for several days. This was years ago, and I think it was during the summer. I don't remember all the details of course, I don't remember a lot of details about yesterday. But one supermarket chain down there invited everybody to come and bring a grill and set it up in their parking lot. Then they gave everybody all the meat they could grill. They were going to have to throw it away anyway but instead of putting a dumpster in the parking lot to throw it in, like every other store did, they let people have it. I remember thinking that every one of the stores should have done it, but only one did. If I lived there that store would have been the only place I bought groceries from then on. And like I said, I don't remember if they couldn't get fuel for backup generators or what the story was there, but anyway they said "come on over- and bring your grill".
  4. We passed by the hardware store before the storm the other day on the way to Appomattox. The parking lot was full and people were lined up for miles waiting to get propane. Or maybe lined up for several yards. Zina said " what is the reason that all those citizens are in line to purchase some propane to fill their propane tanks?" I said "so they can cook on their gas grills if the power goes out I guess". It never even occurred to me that it might be for a propane heater or propane powered generator, all I thought about was cooking!
  5. I have several outside sockets too, I was wondering the same. But nope, ain't gonna do it. I'm just going to get a generator extension cord, run that inside, and what I read said you could "SAFELY" run 3 extension cords from that cord. So I'm thinking internet, freezer/fridge, and a small electric heater or a fan in summer.
  6. No problem getting it here, but it's expensive. Last time I bought some it was still up close to $4 a gallon, $3.89 I believe.
  7. I have no idea. Her setup looks like a NASA control room. I think her laptop is the main computer, and she has 3 monitors besides the laptop that she uses.
  8. I was posting that very thing when you were.
  9. And ALWAYS use non-ethanol gas!
  10. Good to know, thank you.
  11. Thank you for the kind words, I don't know about all that, but I did "buy now with one click" on this one.
  12. Yep, after much research- ok, I looked around on the interwebs a little bit- that's what I decided would be best. You can even order Westinghouse generators from Amazon, and all the reviews of Westinghouse generators were good, on several different sites. And a smaller one that you just run a generator cord in through a window or door is around $600. It said you could run several extension cords from the generator cord safely to power the refrigerator, freezer, coffee maker, etc. Or a still smaller and cheaper unit that they recommended running the refrigerator for an hour, then the freezer for an hour, then the "something else". I'd get one bigger than that, but yep, the gas powered portable is the way I'm gonna go.
  13. So, I saw these pictures on my phone a while ago. Randyp had posted a picture on here of him sitting on a huge pine tree. Randyp was a regular here, very funny, always had a humorous reply to just about everything, and then he just... disappeared. I tried calling him several times but the last few times got no response, so I don't have a clue about his current status. But anyway, if you remember him here's the old story about the big tree.

  15. I watched a very interesting 20 minute video comparing different fuel conditioners on YouTube this morning. Surprising too, some I'd never heard of did very well, while other more popular brands did rather poorly. The video is well worth watching, but here's the gist of it- This test was cetane rating- This was the lubricity test- Anti-gel test- I don't remember this one, but all the fuel was frozen for 24 hours at -38 degrees fahrenheit then treated. And this was the final test results-
  16. We had more snow than was expected 🤣
  17. That's kinda what I was thinking. Actually, that's exactly what I was thinking 🤔
  18. I kept the birds well fed. Lots of doves. Roman stayed warm too. At least I didn't run out of beer.
  19. Wow, like everything else anymore that's about twice as much as I was thinking it would cost.
  20. No, but Zina is talking about getting one again. The last time was when we were coming back from Florida and layed over in Asheboro because there was a bad ice storm up here and a lot of power outages. We were still in Gladys then, that was about 3 or 4 years ago I think. But even then, it wasn't our nearly as long as it was this time so I think I should get one. My brother has a Generac, and some people say they're a great unit, but I've heard too many people say they're junk. I started seeing these ads online- even though I hadn't googled generators at all, imagine that- and Briggs and Stratton makes generators, I never knew that, and they have a 7 year warranty. And I saw Kohler ads, Cummins ads, several more I can't remember now. But I think we're going to get something.
  21. Day 18...just ate the last seal we had... don't know how much longer we can hold out... Oh, the power just came back on- never mind.
  22. That reminds me of "Spot the Wonder Dog". It was a running joke on BMT for a long time. Different guys would "write" different parts and add to the story. It seemed hilarious at the time. I guess it could be found it you typed it in the search bar.
  23. For sure, and I didn't do it near as much as you did.
  24. Merry Christmas back!
