I might. When Old Bill gave it to me he asked me to wear it to truck shows. That's why I wear it, and it's the only time I wear it. If it offends people, and I don't know why it would, well, too bad. It's actually an Akubra hat, made in Australia, not a cartoon dog's hat, not a cheap hat, and I appreciate that Old Bill thought enough of me to give it to me. If he wants me to wear it to truck shows, it's the least I can do for him. It's a Coolabah, showing for $220 on the Akubra website, but that's not the Mack truck one, I couldn't find that particular model listed. https://www.akubra.com.au/ So yeah, I think I will wear it.

I called her that night, by accident actually, when I was trying to send a message, And we have talked and/or text messaged every day ever since. We have met in person since then too. She lived in Ct. when we first met, and now she lives in Florida. And she said she is coming to Macungie with me this year. So all is good...

But the strangest thing is this- one night I was going to Oklahoma, and when my driving time was up I pulled into the rest area on I-64 at the Illinois-Indiana line. I looked at my new smart phone- I hadn't long upgraded from the old flip phone, and saw a message request. And usually I paid no attention to message requests, or just deleted them immediately, but for some reason I clicked "accept" on this one. And as soon as I saw the name I knew exactly who it was. We had dated briefly, back in the early 80's. But she lived far,far away. And then I met my future wife down on this end, the one who died of cancer in 2005. So the long distance relationship ended...until that night. I'll never forget the conversation. At the time, my facebook profile picture was the one of me sitting in Dr. Bill's PIE truck, when Dave Coutu let me sit in it at Winchester. It says "Oakland, Ca." on the door. Her message said "did you ever live on the east coast?" I replied "I've lived in Va. all my life- did you ever live in Ct?" And she just happened to be on right then, and she said "small world".

So yeah, I haven't seen her since before Thanksgiving.

Well...it's a long story, but- One day back last fall Jo called me one morning to see where I was and what I was doing. I was in a tense situation at the time, don't remember exactly what, but I was in the Norfolk area. When we said "good bye" she said "I love you". I said "ok, bye!" About 3 seconds later she called back and said "I said- 'I love you!" So I said "well good for you!" and hung up...probably not the best thing to say, but it's what I said. That Friday when I was on the way home I called to see if she wanted to go to El Salvador- my favorite restaurant in Altavista, the Mexican place- oh, it's El Cazador- whatever, she said "I already made a sammich, and you know, I think i'll be moving on". I think she was expecting me to beg and plead for her to stay, but I said "well, ok, see-ya, bye!" And that was it. And i've been here with the cat ever since...that reminds me of a Richard Pryor joke

Hi!..finally got here on my phone! I'm still here, just been really busy lately, been to Tulsa and Kansas City, loaded back out of Blytheville, Ar. both times, one load went to Petersburg, the other right back to Lynchburg. The Lynchburg load I loaded Friday was a good one, just 3 beams, 52 footers, 48,000+lbs. And since I'm by myself now when I get home I have to do laundry, cooking, dishes, grocery getting, etc. so I just don't have much free time.

I've been wearing Rocky boots for a long time. I like a Wellington boot because I never learned to tie it's hard for me to tie my boots in the truck. They used to be made in Ohio, but the last few pairs I bought were made in the Dominican Republic. I always bought this style, the fabric upper part made them light, and they're very comfortable too. But the ones I was wearing were not insulated, my insulated pair just like them needs re-soling. During the cold spell a while back my feets stayed cold, so I ordered a new pair of insulated ones. Turns out you can't get them with a safety toe any more, so I looked and ordered these instead- They have a safety toe, and twice the insulation of the others- 400G instead of 200G..whatever that actually means. I like the looks of the first pair better, but these don't look too bad. They look very well made, they were around $200, and I haven't even worn them yet. ...and on the box it said "made in Vietnam".

I have replaced the heater control valve in my 2002 Ranger three times in the last few years. The original valve lasted about 150,000 miles with no issues, until one day the plastic piece that the heater hose connects to just snapped off. I sawed off a piece of a bumper guide stick that I got out of the junk pile at the shop- just happened to be the perfect size- and bypassed the valve altogether, but when winter rolled around I had to get a valve. Got one at NAPA, I noticed that it said "Made in China" on the box, but I put it on. It worked fine, but it leaked from day one, just a constant drip where the metal shaft went through the plastic. I just added a little water and antifreeze every couple of weeks, no big deal- until it got annoying. So I went to O'reilly's Auto Parts and got another one. It only took a couple of minutes to put one one. I noticed that it said "made in China" on the box, but I put it on. It worked fine, but it leaked from day one, just a constant drip where the metal shaft went through the plastic. I just added a little water and antifreeze every couple of weeks, no big deal- until it got annoying. So I ordered one from that online auto parts place and put it on. But at this point I didn't know what else to do, so I just add a little water and anti freeze periodically. -
Not a thing Ken, just see it on the way to South Boston when I get that occasional van run down there. It's not far from here at all, I can take a ride down there and check it out more if you want.

I think i'd paint those hubs either black or red though, i'm just not feeling the green.

Yes I took pictures of it when it was behind the firehouse in Gladys, but I didn't know what happened to it.

I took a load of pipes to New Castle Tuesday. The weather was crappy. I took a load of pipes to New Castle Thursday. The weather was not too bad. I made this much hot sauce a few weeks ago. Those little wine bottles are the cat's ass! I saw this truck in Roanoke a few weeks ago- ...and saw it again this week on I-64 between Afton and I-81 I think. I also saw a big Mack truck in New Castle. A big Mack truck on rt. 501 near Halifax. Been for sale for a long time. And I spotted that B model that was parked behind the firehouse in Gladys that time, pulled into this garage on rt. 24 near Yellow Branch.

Old Bill sent me that in an e mail yesterday, first time i've heard from him in a while.

I haven't watched a game all year, no need to start today!

I know it's late notice, but a friend of mine has two tickets for the Super Bowl in Minneapolis, MN at the new U. S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, February 4th. They are box seats and he paid $3,500 per ticket, which includes the ride to and from the airport, lunch, dinner, a $400.00 bar tab and a pass to the winners locker room after the game. What he didn't realize when he bought them last year was that it's on the same day as his wedding. If you are interested, he is looking for someone to take his place. It's at St. Paul's Church at 3pm. Her name is Ashley. She’s 5'4", about 115 pounds, a good cook, loves to fish and hunt and will clean your truck. She’ll be the one in the white dress.

Yes, I use a shorter blade myself. They all pretty much fit everything any more, so I put 16'' wiper blades on it because while they don't cover as much area, they seem to cover it better. I think it came with 20 or 22'' wiper blades.
