  1. Do you get any snow there Bob? With a name like Sun Valley, it doesn't sound like it.
  2. What part of Ohio are you in? I'm in Johnstown...a lot of the farmers in my neighborhood have R models and Superliners, but no U models.
  3. On ebay...the ad says it has a 400 Mack with Jake, new Maxitorque trans, 58k rears, new 5th wheel and new tires. Looks pretty nice; starting bid $35,000. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2001-Mack-RD-RD600/293994939547?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D1c23a1d0ef604885ad7f293aacee3f76%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D284176698142%26itm%3D293994939547%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A8462a5f0-6a44-11eb-a3d8-16e695f2d528|parentrq%3A83226d911770a9c511427410fffffa2c|iid%3A1
  4. Concave cab!
  5. I may be selling some parts, but at this rate it will be a couple of years before I finish this thing.
  6. Here's the "before" picture of the tandem.
  7. Actually the Smith truck is just a parts truck; I'm using the frame rails and rear bogie from a tandem and the cab, engine, and other parts from a single axle that I have. The color I picked is a teal blue. I think the Smith is number 160...it's got more rust than steel in the cab. I'm using the front axle, transmission, and some other parts from it.
  8. Good question. I'm not sure how accurate this color is, I think it's just an eyeball match.
  9. It is a very greenish color, the blue is just because of the camera.
  10. Ad on ATHS back lot, the guy has an NOS back panel for $1,000. https://aths.org/backlot/18349/mack-parts-2/minnesota/usa/parts/
  11. If you have the old drums, you could look to see if there are numbers on them--that would make it easier to find. I had the old shoes on my front axle relined at a local brake shop.
  12. You can definitely get gout in your knees. Bad news: drinking beer makes you more likely to get it...I know you don't want to hear that Otherdog.
  13. Oooooo, I'm drivin' my wife away!!
  14. I've run a lot of used tires, never had one blow. Like Alex said if they're not too old, should be good.
  15. It was 43 years ago today! I was 14 years old, living in Sandusky county (about 30 min. south of Toledo). We didn't have power for several days, and of course our house was all electric so we had to stay with a neighbor until they got our electric back on. We didn't have school for a week or two, and then had to have split sessions at the junior high because the pipes froze and burst in the high school. This photo is from the Mansfield News Journal; truck driver James Truly was stuck in his cab for almost 5 days until the National Guard rescued him.
  16. That's cool...you have a seat out of an H model!
  17. Are you serious...$1,126.00?
  18. Interesting looking sleeper. That was a fine truck in it's day!
  19. A lot of guys want to see photos before they get interested. Also, where are you located?
  20. They run a lot of Good Feet commercials on TV here; almost every customer they talk to is crying. If their inserts are over $250, then I can see why they're crying.
  21. There was a topic on here a while back about different color engines...red was one of them.
  22. I put the engine in today; I pulled the old engine out of this truck in July of 2017 so it's been 3-1/2 years. I fed the rear chain through an old motorcycle tube and it did a nice job of protecting the paint.
  23. I saw a web page for Rome Truck Parts, they have a catalog with a lot of old wiper arms, blades, motors, etc. It says they also repair wiper motors and other things. I may look to them if I need stuff for my wipers. http://www.rometruckparts.com/
