registering truck in CT questions answered
blueknight0517@yahoo.com replied to Jamied625's topic in Odds and Ends
Why would you need an exempt form from DOT, if you are requesting antique Plates? The vehicle is no longer considered commercial if antique plates are issued and therefore all commercial vehicle laws no longer apply to that vehicle. The vehicle can not be used commercially nor can it be used to generate revenue with antique plates. A CDL is not required to operate it All you need is a VIN verification form, regestration appliecation, bill of sale and proof of insurance. I went directly to the horse, Weathersfield DMV and was out of the building with plates in 15 minutes. Good Luck. Jim -

Any one notice the "Centurion Multi-defense buckshot Law Enforcemnt" is made in Italy? Recently I purchased some .410 ammo and found it was made in Spain. Last month I purchase 25lbs of bird shot for reloading and found that it was made in Peru. I inquired as to why this is so and was informed that it is illegal to make shot gun shells using lead. That didn't make sense to me but apparently we have out sourced our ammunition to foreign countries. More and more i realize that my grandchildren will not have the same opportunities that I have had. They will told what to do.

The Bulldog Express = Camper
blueknight0517@yahoo.com replied to TheBulldogExpress's topic in Truck Stories
Hey bulldog that is one nice truck. I noticed you have commercial regestration plates on it. If you use only for camping and don't use it for commercial purpose would it be cheaper and less insurance if you had combination plates on it? I live here in Ct. and have a friend that has a Mack and a low boy trailer to haul his antique bulldozers to shows. I had hooked him up with the truck and trailer. When it came time to register it I told him to put antique plates on the tractor and Camp trailer plates on the trailer. Since he would be hauling his own personal property and no commercial stuff he would qualify for the Camp trailer plates. DMV looked at him funny but he got the camp trailer plates for his lowboy trailer. He saved a ton of money on insurance and fees. If you use the truck only for your camper then combo plates would work. too bad you took out the beds, you could have registered the tractor as a "Camper" and saved a boat load of money on fees and insurance. I have seen tractors with sleepers regestered as "Campers" when hooked exclusevely to camp trailers. Just a thought. In this economy saving money anywhere is a plus. Jim -
Rear Wheel Hop

Lmackattack Thanks for the information. He put a bag of Equal balance sand in each tire. The truck now drives like a Caddy at 42MPH and is steady as a rock at 65MPH. thanks again. -
Rear Wheel Hop
blueknight0517@yahoo.com replied to blueknight0517@yahoo.com's topic in Driveline and Suspension
Thanks for the information. You guys have given me some ideas to pursue. I'll let you know what sovled the problem. Thanks again. Jim -
A friend of mine has a 1981 Mack R600 twin screw tractor. I belive that it is a Mack camel back. He has replaced the bushings, New Dog bones, New tires and rims and replaced the rubbers at the spring ends. When he approaches 42 MPH the rear suspension develops a wheel hop. It feels like the wheels are jumping forward. Above 42 the problems go away. However when he hits 62 MPH, the rear wheels start to hop again but doesn't set in hard because the govenor holds the truck at 65MPH. I belive it is a harmonic problem but all the things; that spin have been addressed. The drive shafts have new universals and the shafts have been correctly timed. (In sinc) The new wheels and tires have not been balanced. Could this be the problem? He says the problem is reduced when he puts the low boy trailer on. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Jim

Rob, Very good on your study of Government economics, unfortunately you forgot about inflation. Because the governemnt prints the money that it uses to pay it's bills it takes more money for us to earn to pay our bills. The money has less value and takes more of it to purchase goods and services. So, when everyone used the $100 to pay their debit. The inflation rate was such becaause of intrest and the fact the governmet is printing the money(having less value) to pay their debit, they all still owe $100. Plus the income taxes went up and the services, if any, they receive went down. So, it is possbile that they could owe more to each other because the money has less value. And that is the way the Government moneytizes it's debit. Double digit inlfation or as they called it in the seventies "Stagflation" is just around the corner. Hang on to your socks the ride is just beginning. Jim

Mack A Chinese Truck Now?
blueknight0517@yahoo.com replied to 41chevy's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
ThaddeusW you are indeed correct. Industry, engineering and inovation are the key elements of a healthy economy. One has to add value either through construction, refinning or new concepts and ideas in order to create wealth. Rasing taxes does not create wealth. Bigger Government does not create wealth. Redistribution of wealth does not create wealth. The only way wealth can be created is to "dig something up", "build something", conceptualize an idea, apply it and then build it, is the only way to create wealth. That is what built this country. Work must be applied to create wealth. This is called adding value. I had this discussion years ago with a College Prof. When he attempted to teach the class that "we will become the Managers of the World and we will not have to build anything or have any heavy industries, in order to have wealth." I was asked to leave the class a couple of times because I destroyed his discussion with the above concept. China is a force to be reckoned with. I am afraid that the power is contining to move westward. Persian Empire, Greece, Rome, Europe (France, Germany, Belgium), England, America, Japan and now China. I read an article the other day; TA TA Motors of India is bringing it vehicle to the US. The vehicle, an Indian version of the VW bug (but smaller) sells for $2,500 in India. When it gets to the US it will sell for over $8,000. This just adds to the concept of how screwed up we are. I seriously doubt it will ever be like the "good old days" God! I am depressed....Think I will go and have some Johnny Walker. Jim -
Do you stay up late at night to think of this stuff?

Getting back to being a serious post. If you look at the first picture and top 90 degree elbow were to line up with the lower 90 degree elbow and you place a piece of clear plastic tube between the two, then you can gauge how much water is in the system. This would then let you know when to drain the system. See, it wasn't all that hard. Jim

Get Anything Truck Related For Christmas?
blueknight0517@yahoo.com replied to Rob's topic in Odds and Ends
That's a little overkill for towing your boat.....don't cha think? Jim -
I have been e-mailing my Senators and Congressman for the past three months. What really infuriates me, are the computer generated propaganda that comes back. How they are thinking of us working men and women of American and how they are going to make it so much better for the us. God! I just puked again, just thinking of their shit. If you add more then one thought in your letter they only address the first and throw out the rest. God! I just puked again. If you try to go through the list of disscussion topics it will take at least a week or two just to sort out the topics. God! just puked again. When you do write don't argue with them. Just tell them to vote No on your favorit topic; Health Care, Cap & Trade, Taxes, Failure to represent. I have told mine several times that; not only will I not vote for them but, I will do my best to keep my friends and family from voting for them. So Please, Please when it is time to vote......vote for any person that has not held office. "You vote for Oboma-care, We'll Vote you outta there!" "We The People........." Merry Christmas to all and to All a Happy and Hopeful New year.

Thad, You are correct about Fission reactors and I was a little over zealous on this type of reactor. Fussion reactors have a bad rap because of Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. TMI was run by idiots and Chernobyl was a reactor that should have never been built using 1940's technology. I agree Fission reactors are the only way to go using todays technology. They would be fast and cheap to build and very reliable to produce and abundance of cheap electricty. Paul, Sorry,I have to disagree with your solar arrays on every roof top. Photo voltaic cells are vastly ineffiecent. The cells also wear out and need to be replaced. To quote Dr.Conrad Hilpert; "The best of the power of photo voltaic cells are 11% efficient. Jimmy Carter has told people that 10% of our electrical energy can come from the sun. For 10% of 173,000,000kWH/year we need photo voltaic cells that can deliver 5,360,000,000,000 BTU. This means 11,254,301 square feet of cells times 3 because they need to be spread out for service and shading, times 2 for storage and D.C.-A.C. conversion. Or, we have about 1.613 square milesof Solar cells. These will cost about $50 per suare foot. We just spent $2,249,060,314 ($2 1/4 Billion dollars) For a period of 20 years @10% interest gives us about $264,173,780.00 a year for 173,000,000 kWh or $1.53 per Kwh. This is 10% of out power. Can you imagine the rates if we were to generate 100% of our power this way." There is no easy answer to our problems but I do agree with the person who stated "Get the Government out of the way so we can solve the problems." The path that this Country is heading down has been trod by many other Nations who are not around today. The Soviet Union comes to mind. We are the greatest Nation in the World. We are the greatest Nation in the History of the world, far out shinning Rome and Greece. We have done more for people, world wide, than any other people in the history of the world. All of this is due to Free Enterprise and Capitolism. Any way I have gone on long enough about this. I do admire the people on this web site. If this is a true sampling of the U.S. .......Then we do have a very bright future under Free Enterprise and Capitolism. "Merry Christmas to All.......and to all Good Night!" Jim -
Global Warming Protest March...

The following is from a paper by Conrad R. Hilpert Ph.D. P.E. "That the wind is free is hardly news. that at no time was any fuel cheaper than wind seems to be a forgotten fact. free Wind power gave way to costly fire wood, more costly coal, much more costly oil, even more costly atoms. WIND POWER NEVER WAS AND STILL ISN'T FREE. Wind power is the most expensive form of power since the discovery of any other form of power. a Formula of intrest and accuracy is: HP = 0.000005247 X P(to the second power) X W (to the third power) HP = Horse Power D = Diameter feet of a wind turbine W = MPH of wind this is the absolute power in the wind. To get this power we must completely stop the air. Obviously we can't get all this power because if we stop the air in our wind turbine no new "live air" can enter to give up its energy. German Physicist Alber Betz mathematically proved that the greatest fraction of energy in the wind that can be obtined is 16/27 of the total calculated as above. Some modern large (blades over 100 feet long) wind turbine makers claim 70%. What they mean is that if the wind blows at the turbines best velocity they might get 70% of 16/27 or ~41.5 % of the maximum wind energy as calculated above. Since the wind doesn't always blow at the turbines peak efficient velocity the average is more like 20 -25%. A Kansas rancher's 12 ft. diameter 1900 galvanized iron wind mill in a good windy Kansas prairie can average 1.3 HP, 10 hrs a day, 26 days a month; a 16 ft turbine, 1.9 HP. (this is 14.4% efficient) this is in a location where the average given wind speed is 11 MPH, the fastest 5 minute wind is 61MPH. The "effective wind speed" for this area is 16.2 MPH. The local power company delivers to the average home 8442 KWH/year. The average 6.7MPH wind means that this average home would require a 13.3 ft diameter wind turbine to get 10% of their electric power "free". This windmill on a 30 to 50 ft tower and its installation would cost aout $10,000. Let's assume interest is 10%. The "Free Power" is costing the home owner $1,174.60 per year. this for 844 kWH is $1.39 per kWH instead of $0.0319 per kWH that I can buy from the local power company." All of this equates to instead of hundreds of acres of wind turbines or (God Forbid) solar arays and milllions of dollars of equipment that would sit idle or under-utilized by 80%of the time. A bigger bang for your buck would be........I dare say......Nuclear Power. In this case fusion and not fission thus resulting in no waste. We were within ten years of a fusion reactor in the Clinton Adminstration. The research was stopped. Gee for Political reasons? We surely must not have an abundance of cheap energy. Why, there would be no crisis to regulate and pass laws rasing taxes and creating bigger and bigger Government. Oh and Dr. Hilbert has also written papers on Solar Power (it doesn't work), Hydrogen and Batteries. Let's not be dupped by the constant banging of the drum by the "Main Stream Media". They have an agenda. NBC is owned by GE and GE is big into the "Green" game. Would NBC tell you Wind power doesn't work if GE has commited millions to it. (A lot of it a tax write offor even subsides which is our tax dollar). Use the web. check out the facts. Seek the truth. NBC is not telling you the truth. I am sorry to get carried away and this may not be the arena for this disscussion but Always,Always question Authority! Jim -

Global Warming Protest March...
blueknight0517@yahoo.com replied to other dog's topic in Odds and Ends
I hope that those demanding curbing the population are kidding. Where are we.....China? The only nations in the world that can benifit from a nuclear exchange are China and India and they would still have enough population to walk to America and take back all of the money we borrowed from them. Now for the co2. Let's all hold our breath.....gee and that will stop co2 production. Cork all the asses and we will stop co2 and methane. Take the fizzz out of soda. Dump all of those co2 fire extingishers. Stop all forest fires and volcanos and....... well now you can see how foolish this is. When I was in 6th grade (prior to the take over of the educational system by socialists), we we're taught that all mammels exhale co2. All green plant life (Trees, bushes, grass, marijuana, etc.etc) take in the co2 and through photosynthesis convert the co2 to oxygen (o2) and sugars. We were also taught that a given species will expand with a given amount of food. More food more species. Less food less species. This is why farmes have problems with mice and rats because of the available food. Hence Barn cats. Now class, let's review. The more co2 there is in the atmosphere, The more green plants will grow. Hmmmmmm. seems simple doesn't it. Oh, and just to be fair. A species will grow unchecked with an unlimited food supply unless a predator is avaible to limit the species and grow the predator species. MANS PREDATOR IS..... HIMSELF. Now all of this climate change junk is just that JUNK! It is a vailed ploy to gain control and power. To establish a "Ruling Class" (those who know what is best for "us".) I will decide what is best for me......Thank you very much. To imagine that we (Man) can have an impact on a system that is as large as the world is taking ourselves way to seriously. This world has been here for millions of years and is in a constant state of flux. Nothing remains unchanged. All it took was one meteor in the Yucatan peninsula and POOF the dinosaurs were gone (World wide). What makes us think we are any better? Merry Christmas Jim -
