Chicago R models

I thought that also. My Dad had it for about a month 20+ years ago when his Value Liner got wrecked. Maybe the same truck? Other than a few cosmetic changes, I would say very similar. -

Saw this sitting at Marengo Auto Body. Not sure who it belongs to. Had ICC numbers at the bottom of the door but no plates or lettering. Truck look familiar to anybody? -
I'm curious as to what kind of pickup he was in. Must have a good built in crumple zone.

You guys were talking about Nagel on the other thread and it reminded me I have a picture of a Nagel CH pulling a Wilson hopper. I like the hopper with the double row of lights, extra red lights up the back, and the auto tarp. -

I noticed those trucks are looking rough also. After they sold out they moved out of their shop and now all that is left there is the shell of an MR cab. Don't know were they park now. One driver there kept awesome care of his truck. Was a 4 axle DM rolloff with all aluminum buds, floaters up front, the whole truck was always polished and probably had every piece of chrome a DM could have along with some extra chicken lights, but I think the new company stripped all that stuff off them trucks and they look like crap now. I'm sure it killed morale and the guys just gave up. A shame, I would say that was the best looking Mack rolloff in northern IL. -

Mackey, the Super Mix you saw was at 39 and rt72. When you hopped off at Baxter Rd the landfill on the left was the Winnebago county landfill. When you crossed over 251 and continued west the pit on the left was a William Charles pit (AKA Rockford Blacktop) Curran only has the Dekalb facility now as they have sold their other places. William Charles is a very good size company that owns many pits around the Rockford area. They used to own the Winnebago landfill also, plus Rock River disposal, Marengo Disposal, Rochelle Disposal, plus the Rochelle landfill, Gill's disposal (Freeport IL) and a couple others but I read that they sold off most of the waste companies to an investor but still have a stake in them. I have a couple pictures, the first is of the dredge they use at the Beltline rd pit, the second is a William Charles RD, and the third is a Rochelle Disposal dm. http://www.williamcharlesconstruction.com/ -
That's cool. I have the Cruiseliner kit that I am very slowly building. Would like to pick up the DM800 kit with the REX mixer on it some day.

Chicagoland Mack dealerships?
PeterMack replied to Lmackattack's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
I thought Superior Diesel out in Waterman was a Mack dealer at one time but I don't think they are anymore. I remember they had Macks out in the lot for sale and a Mack sign out front. They are still around but I'm not sure if they have any association with Mack any more. -

Monday night me and pops went into Chicago to haul out the stand and base for the Christmas tree that is at Daily Plaza. Got there about 8 and got out at 10. Was nice with the cold because nobody was out and it was easy to get around. Took his truck since it was already dirty (mines still clean in the driveway). Took a couple pictures while we were waiting for the guys to trim the tree, even saw a couple Mack's out working late. -

Saw this R model headed south on 1st Ave awhile back. Looks like they got a little carried away with the paint gun and covered the horns and lights in orange. Maaco special? -

Looks like an Ozinga/Meyer mixer had a major oops last week. One of their RD mixers backed into a steel beam in the new Weber Grill HQ in Huntley and took out a huge section of the roof. I hauled there all last summer and was in the building myself. Not sure if the driver had a spotter watching him or what the story is. I took a picture of an RD mixer in there last year and a friend just found a picture on the 150 FB page of the truck that took out the roof. No one was injured but I would imagine there was some major ass chewing going on after this one. http://www.firstelectricnewspaper.com/2015/01/delay-expected-for-huntley-weber-world.html -

I don't think I posted it, but maybe I sent that to you in an e-mail. I got CRS, sometimes I forget things. Maybe, looks like there is another truck on the left. Looks like the one on the right is a twin stack. Could be Mackey, I don't have any guesses on this one. -

A friend passed this picture along to me awhile ago of these two R-models sitting in Aurora. Forgot I had the picture. Don't really know any history on them. Do they look familiar to anybody? -
Great old pictures. Very cool. I don't think Morbark offers Detroit anymore. Our chippers and tub grinders all had V12 CATS in them. I think they were rated at about 900hp. Was amazing how fast they could take in a whole tree. If you got one tree that was fairly straight it could chip it in about 4 or 5 seconds. Definitely would not want to get your hand close to the infeed belt cuz there was nothing that was gonna stop it.

Yes Lenzini is still in business. They don't do a whole lot of excavating anymore. They just sold their 4 axle KW this last month to Lima Exc out of Mchenry. The driver went with the truck. Not sure if Lima will paint it their colors or not. I have a couple pictures of it when it was brand new. Sharp looking truck. They bought the old Groot transfer station in Palatine and moved their operations to that facility. Their dumpster/porta potty business is MBL. They still have a couple semi's, one white W900 that Tommy B's brother drives. He pulls a 39ft East Genesis dump, and hauls the grit from the sort system out to the Rockford landfill about three times a day, and they still have the two tone brown T800 that pulls a dump trailer, might still say "Robs" on the door. Not sure if they have any other semi's left. They have a lot of rolloff trucks for MBL. Looks like they are doing well with those. -
I used to work at a land clearing co. We had all that fun stuff. We had two Timbco's with the saw head on them, as we don't have much straight lumber in these parts. We needed the big saw. We had a Sneller for stumping and a Rayco, had a couple Morbark chippers and also some Morbark tub grinders, and a CBI for grinding. The yellow Pete in the pictures was my daily driver. I also have the toy versions of some of these. A Valmet and CAT, but both have the head for cutting straight trees. Have a 545 CAT skidder also and a 518 CAT, a Lumberjack skidder and a few other pieces not pictured. Was some neat equipment to work around.

My God that was awful. Encouraging the kid to steal his folks gun and take it to school is unbelievably foolish. I like how there is no back story here either. Are the parents waving the gun at the kid and beating him when he gets home, is that why he is fearful of the gun? Or is he just another brainwashed liberal dummy that can't think for himself. If he was truly in danger I think the better route would be to call the police, another relative or friend, or anything other than taking a loaded gun to school. This has got to be the worst PSA ever made, at least I hope it is anyway.

This picture is from Tommy B. I think this is a Mendino truck, can't quite make the name out on the door. Looks like this was taken at Lenzini's old shop, which I heard they sold and will be torn down this year to make way for a U-haul storage lot. This picture was probably taken about 20 years ago. -

Brad you win the guessing game, or got close enough anyway. RT14 and Cary/Algonquin Rd. -
I'm gonna second that. I'm actually fine with the snow, I just can't stand when we get a 2 inch snow and the state and county lay down 6 inches of salt and chloride to eat my vehicles.
