Critics push U.S. to help Europe by taking more refugees
grayhair replied to kscarbel2's topic in Odds and Ends
John Kerry is a blithering idiot lackey which is exactly why he was chosen by Obama for a cabinet position. Wonder how many of the next batch of refugees will be sent to Hawaii? . -
Alrighty then, I stand corrected. My flood insurance policy premium is $430. per year. And I live in a 100 year flood zone. Maybe I am grandfathered-in from having the insurance for some 30 years now? Or? Obviously my info is dated. I didn't know there is now an A, or B, or C categories.

And that is because we are knee--deep in lawyers. Congress is loaded with them. Local governments are loaded with them. And they aren't big on tort reform either. If you want to protect yourself, one can always get an umbrella insurance policy to protect yourself against big $ lawsuits. I have such a policy because it protects my family and, interestingly, the text of the policy also says "including the actions of your pet(s.") Can you say "dog bites UPS man?" Typical premium, say, $400. per year for a $1 Mil. Or $750. for $2 Mil., etc. With that kind of money at stake the insurance company lawyers go to work for you. And if they lose, they pay rather than you get wiped out. Just sayin'...

A note to residents of N. America: National Flood Insurance is available to EVERY home owner regardless of flood risk from high to low to moderate. This fact is pretty well known by the public at large. I heard on TV that approximately 90% of the flood victims in Louisiana did not have this flood insurance and are looking at very heavy damage and repair costs. And some pretty high-end houses were damaged in this recent event - big houses owned by well-to-do homeowners who could no doubt afford flood insurance. I certainly have great empathy for those that lost so much and don't have the insurance, but the fact remains, they gambled and lost. Typical cost for flood insurance (even in a designated flood plain) is about $440. per year for coverage of $250K structure and $100K contents. If your house is high on a hill is one thing, but if not... I hate writing the check every March but i sleep well no matter how much it rains.

My B20 was brand new and had nice bright shiny red paint, somebody's proud purchase, and this song by The Platters was playing in jukeboxes everywhere. My truck lives on (barely) and thanks to YouTube so does the music. Sadly, Tony Williams and Zola Taylor have passed on but their music is timeless.

Same idiot (or his young protege) who did the early '70s big block Corvettes equipped with a/c and a smog pump. Using a hole saw on the inner fender to access #2 and #4 plugs was a common practice. Chevy dealers routinely "overlooked" #2 when doing a tuneup on these suckers.

I've found it is best to do your own research to get full understanding of the issues of the day. So, watch TV and do online research to find out who Susan Sarandon, Whoopi Goldberg, and Piers Morgan will vote for and then do the exact opposite. That way you can know with confidence that you are truly doing the right thing!

Strange electrical glitch in RD tractor
grayhair replied to ranchhopper's topic in Electrical, Electronics and Lighting
Or maybe the truck came from Indiana, or Ohio, etc. an Eastern Time Zone state where it would be 5:30? -

Strange electrical glitch in RD tractor
grayhair replied to ranchhopper's topic in Electrical, Electronics and Lighting
Sounds like Underdog may have it right. The only thing I can imagine is that your tractor is pulsed by a satellite signal every day at the same time. Say a fleet operator has software that is programmed to query their fleet once a day, every day, at the same time, to create a management report: Unit location, status, days operating data, etc. Your truck goes into limp mode while the data is being sent. Just guessing of course but seems possible. If your tractor was purchased used, maybe a tracking system was installed by a previous owner and they didn't remove it when they sold? Hope you get it figured out. -

Strange electrical glitch in RD tractor

OK, understood. What I am suggesting is that the new OE computer may be defective. I don't know how difficult and expensive to change out the computer but just because it is a new one doesn't necessarily mean it is a good one. Maybe it is defective. Wouldn't be the first time a new part from the dealer was no good. One other question... If you start the truck an hour earlier, do the problems show up an hour earlier, at 3:30 rather than 4:30? -

Not sure I understand... Did it have the problem before the computer was replaced? From above, " so they bought a new computer and installed it and from day one this issue has started" Do you have another computer you could try, switch them out and see what happens. New doesn't necessarily mean "good." Would be nice to eliminate the computer as the source of the problem. Failing that, does it have any aftermarket add-on electronic items? -
At least 3 times a day I see some video clip of Bill Clinton making a speech and waving his finger at me. Y'all can imagine what I'd like to do. Has to do with breaking it off and... I'll be glad when this election is over. I'd really be grateful to never see or hear Bill again, at all, ever.

Probably true but doesn't make it palatable. Some people in the Air Natl Guard said Bush, Jr. was "one click above too dumb to fly."

What the U.S. should learn from Britain’s dying navy

The State Department (working closely with the Clinton Foundation) probably sold those property rights to China... -

Her voice hurts my ears. For me, it is much easier to stand next to and listen to a hammer forge or an air hammer. Besides, those two things make sense to me. Her blather not at all. -
quoted from above: "As opposed to linking Zika just to microcephaly there is a whole spectrum which they are now referring to as the [congenital] Zika syndrome, within which is included microcephaly but it is not limited to microcephaly,” he said. “This [research] is just a very good example of the broadening spectrum of the abnormalities that can occur in children,” he added. I say, this friggin Zika is a disaster. Besides terrible limb defects, likely neurological problems that will last a lifetime, possible blindness, possible hearing problems or totally deaf, learning disability, or all of the above... Tell me you can look a lovely young mother in the eye and tell her (or as idiot Rubio insists) that she must go ahead with delivery of an known afflicted baby. Terminating that pregnancy should be the mothers choice. If she wants to go ahead and deliver the baby, understanding the risk, then so be it. On the other hand, what crazy, merciless son of a bitch would require her to go ahead with it against her will?

Bill might have been there but I think Hillary was probably out of town, busy on a case defending the SDS and Weather Underground... -
Sounds like ZF and FCA wold be good acquisitions for VW. Fit right in. Economy of scale on recalls. Bolster the team by hiring the GM ignition switch guy.

And what about Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. Maybe a Floridian would know the answer to the question that keeps coming up. If she bites her husband, will he get rabies? -
Or maybe their nut-job union president made the decision for them. Carl Icahn bought the Taj out of bankruptcy, thus giving it another shot at survival. After pumping in $100 million he'not willing to spend more without an agreement with the union. Can't blame him for that. He knows what it takes to make it a going concern. When he says final offer, I'd take him at his word... http://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/morning_roundup/2016/08/carl-icahn-letter-trump-taj-mahal-strike-mcdevitt.html?ana=yahoo&yptr=yahoo

"he said he was opposed to abortion in all instances, including in cases of rape or incest." Idiot. Guaranteed he'd say different if it was his family member. In those awful circumstances it should be the mother's discretion/choice. IMO.
