Speaking of steam locos, here are some photos taken at Golden Spike National Monument, UT. The original locomotives were lost long ago but supposedly these two are exact replicas. They are fully functional.

Chrysler Crossfire was their best car, oh, wait a minute, it was made by Mercedes... -

Cool for two years? You mean like fishbowl instrument clusters and square steering wheels? I know there are a lot of Mopar fans on this site but my experience with several Dodges has been bad. Repainted one of them 3 times under warranty. 3/4 ton power steering box replaced 3 times under warranty. AC dryer with defective O-ring design repeatedly lost the refrigerant, warranty issue. Cured me, I gave up on them years ago. -
"People should and do trust me" - Hillary Clinton
grayhair replied to kscarbel2's topic in Odds and Ends
Quoted from above: "The records the White House released yesterday were part of an investigative file from 1979, when the exchange charged Bone and Refco with violations of its record keeping and margin requirement rules. Bone was suspended for three years; Refco paid a $250,000 fine, then the largest in the exchange's history. Internal memos from that investigation cover transactions from the same period in June in which Clinton was trading, but not the same trades. In one instance, the Merc found Bone and a fellow broker were ordering 1,000 cattle contracts at a time – far over the limit allowed at the time – and then allocating them to other customers." I remember this pretty clearly. Those scum bags, Bone and Refco, were charged with co-mingling accounts. They gave monies to Hilary, supposed profits, while other unsophisticated investors took the losses. -

Trump was right to be concerned about judge being biased against him and doubting he can get a fair trial. "Curiel is affiliated with La Raza Lawyers of California, a bar association, according to the Associated Press. The group describes itself as: "an independent unincorporated association of Lawyers organized in 1977 to support Chicano and Latino Lawyers in California and serve as a statewide network for local affiliate La Raza Lawyers Groups." "And who is Curiel? An appointee of President Obama, he has for years been associated with the La Raza Lawyers Association of San Diego, which supports pro-illegal immigrant organizations." http://www.newsmax.com/PatrickBuchanan/class-action-judge-suit/2016/06/07/id/732625/

Further to my earlier post about nat gas... An additional 350 million cu ft. per day will go to Europe for the foreseeable future. Our natural gas is plentiful now, but not forever... http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2016/06/kinder-morgan-gets-green-lightfor-new-lng-project.html?ana=yahoo&yptr=yahoo

So, I wonder if the libs/progressives that are paying these protesters will issue 1099's to the protesters at year end. And when the protesters don't pay their income tax, will the the IRS will come after them? (Fat chance. IRS still populated with Lois Lerner types.)

How about some additional photos - under hood, interior, etc? Thanks. -
Coal may be dead - but it is not dead forever. Natural gas happens to be abundant today. But look to the future - no not that future - but way, way into the future. The way I see it: New nuclear power plants still won't be approved. Fracking will be eventually be outlawed as potable water becomes more precious than oil. And natural gas supplies will eventually be depleted. Depleted because here in the U.S. nat gas consumption increases every year and we are building more new plants right now to ratchet up our exports of - guess what - liquified natural gas (LNG.) The day will come when the "greenies" will beg us to unearth the billions of tons of coal here in the U.S. So ask yourself, what will our grandchildren's children use for heat and power 100 years from now? Sure, some solar, and some wind, and COAL. http://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Can-LNG-Exports-Help-Ailing-US-Producers-Apparently-Not.html

Biden Supports Rhode Island Governor’s Truck-Only Tolls
grayhair replied to kscarbel2's topic in Trucking News
"The ongoing battle between Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo and the state’s trucking association took another turn on May 27 when Vice President Joe Biden flew to the Ocean State to publicly express his support for RhodeWorks, Raimondo’s truck-only tolling infrastructure plan." Sounds like a boondoggle. Why not do it the straightforward way? If the citizens of Rhode Island really want better roads, then put it to a bond vote in November. If the voters approve the bond initiative, then the state sells the bonds to investors and gradually retires the debt by collecting tolls from every vehicle. Same way schools get built and waterworks get built, and city streets are maintained. Seems to me, everyone who drives on the roads will benefit from the improvements, so, every driver should pay. Could it be that the citizens of Rhode Island feel taxed to death and the governor knows they wouldn't approve tolls and a bond issue? Therefore she circumvents the citizens and taxes a group (trucking association) who has no say. Just my two cents from afar. -
Economic Mystery - Why Is Productivity So Weak? Three Theories
grayhair replied to kscarbel2's topic in Odds and Ends
I rarely agree with anything the N.Y. Times has to say. If there is a mystery it's because (as usual) our U.S. government excludes information they do not want to admit for political reasons. GDP is calculated like this: "GDP = C + I + G + (X - M) or GDP = private consumption + gross investment + government investment + government spending + (exports - imports). Nominal value changes due to shifts in quantity and price." The private consumption number being so important to the calculation, and what the government is loath to admit, roughly 9% of our population is illegals. That is, about 30 million illegals not included in the official population count of 323 million. A large percentage of the goods consumption by illegals occurs in their home country. The illegals earn income in the U.S. and a lot of those $ are sent home to other countries where they are spent. So, the all-important consumption is happening, just not all here in the U.S. Garbage data in = garbage data out. This Times article is bullshit. Note the left wing liberal opinion content and misstatement of some of Trump's positions... "Witness Donald Trump’s ascent. Most of his proposed cures for middle America’s anguish are worse than the disease." Opinion I'd say, not necessarily fact. "Shutting down immigration and erecting trade barriers would subtract from US growth." Trump didn't call for shutting down immigration, only curtailing illegal immigration. I call bullshit on the N.Y. Times and their left-wing propagandists. Our government is corrupt, the official numbers are fabrications, and these a holes know it. -

EU set to impose record cartel fine on truckmakers
grayhair replied to kscarbel2's topic in Trucking News
Interesting, quoted from the above article: "charge sheet," and "argues that any price collusion," and "companies allegedly colluded." Charges and allegations... Seems like a lot of accusations. Presumably the commission has some evidence. Just wondering the process in the EU. Is there a trial, evidence presented, and an opportunity to cross examine? Or is the commission able to just levy fines without what we in the U.S. would call due process? -
If you were born in 1949 or earlier you were already a teenager by 1962. A lot of great, early rock and roll was released between 1961 and 1963. Some off these songs were played on juke boxes so frequently that the records had to be replaced monthly since they were literally worn out. You may recall these hits, all of which can be see and heard on YouTube. I hate that YouTube loads commercials in front of this stuff - but I guess you can't complain about free. The 4 Seasons, Walk Like a Man The 4 Seasons, Sherry Gene Chandler, The Duke of Earl Little Eva, The Locomotion The Crystals, Da Doo Ron Ron All these years gone by and yet a few of these artists still perform on occasion. Just for grins, here's LaLa Brooks of the Crystals, original and then again about 50 years after the original release. (scroll down)
