  1. You can see the whole place in about 3 hours or so depending on how closely you want to study the various items. If you are a gearhead I'd say this is a must see. I spent 2 hours just looking at the early American iron, Lincolns, Mercs, Cadillacs, Buicks, Chevies, Studes, Mustangs, Hudsons and on and on, from the dawn of autos to current. Some very rare items. And the collection of engines is awesome too. All beautifully restored. I've been there 3 times over the years and will go again if I get back to the area. There is a website - www.garlits.com
  2. Wife and I were in Florida last week traveling down I-75 and stopped by the museum in Ocala. By chance met Don as he was leaving his shop. Talked drag racing for a few minutes. He holds dozens of national records and is generally acknowledged to be the father of modern drag racing. What a super nice guy, personable and a real class act. At 83 years old he is still going strong. He is currently working on his electric dragster, still trying to be the first to break the 200 mph mark with electric, much as he was the first to do it with fuel many years ago. Approx. 2000 H.P. of electric motors on lithium ion batteries. (I think he is already the current EV record holder at 184 mph.) The museum has two buildings, one devoted to drag racing and another full of antique cars, customs, trucks and engines that is truly an incredible collection. The drag racing building has most all of his 30+ Swamp Rat dragsters plus other dragsters that were owned by other racers. I highly recommend visiting this place if you have the opportunity.
  3. Gotta wonder if the FB I investigation of Hillary's private server emails turned up an email of "secret" nature sent to Boehner? Or went to McConnell and then he forwarded to Boehner. Or sent to some other high ranking repub who forwarded it on. At first blush this sounds unlikely. But perhaps a "Need your support on this" kind of email with a "secret" attachment is not too farfetched. That investigation is going to turn up all kinds of improprieties that we the people will never hear about. I think it would ensnare too many people of BOTH parties. Thus both parties have an interest in covering up the whole thing. Just saying.
  4. Bad egg? Indeed. I'll take that biologically. The U.S. is suffering from self-inflicted contamination of the gene pool by immigrants from countries with defective cultures. From countries where stealing is an accepted practice and the work ethic is rare or nonexistent. And from countries where your word, your signature, or a handshake mean nothing to the other party but rather our trust is something to be taken advantage of. Lying is routine and accepted behavior. They are among us now...
  5. Actually, it looks like an improvement for her. But at this point, what does it matter?
  6. And of course that's the thing... You can chrome plate a turd but you can't rehabilitate these killer turds. We need some time tables, 60 days max until trial, 30 days max until 1st appeal, 30 days max until 2nd appeal. Lose that one and you are executed within 60 days for the good of humanity. Illegal aliens (criminal trespassers) should get 3 years on a chain gain or prison farm growing their own food or forced labor in a coal mine. Same for a CEO of a company that hires an illegal.
  7. Been sitting and smoking for a little over 50 years now. Will keep y'all posted on my progress.
  8. Maybe the refugees should be dispatched to the various European countries according to the percentage of Syrian oil and goods that those countries import. (Financing Assad.) These huge numbers of refugees will overwhelm the European social programs. With so many of the refugees being young adults, what happens when these families, now comfortable in their new homes, produce 2 or 3 additional children? Massive unemployment, rampant crime, riots... I predict the eventual collapse or dissolution of the EU. Could be only several years from now.
  9. Welcome!
  10. GE's buying and selling and making goofy investments including leveraged derivatives until the government had to bail them out to the tune of $182 Billion. Reginald Jones must be spinning in his grave.
  11. SOME lives matter. The chicken-shit murderer who shoots someone in the back, well, his life really DOESN'T matter. It is of no value and has no place in the civilized world. Therefore, when tried and found guilty, he will be executed eventually.
  12. That's pretty standard stuff isn't it? 3,000 miles and your new truck bursts into flame. Maybe the headline should read: "Truck maker pleads ignorance, denies responsibility for safety and key components."
  13. Live in Virginia and don't like the way Dominion spends your money? Then show your displeasure by selling any IRA or 401K investment in these mutual funds.
  14. I think a lot of those new Volvos suffer from overly complex engine management systems and 3 temp sensors causing MBE failure. (Molecular Beam Epitaxy.) Plus of course that goofy-looking slash across the grill.
  15. Jeez, I hope the housenscator's bidirectional modulator is OK. I hear those babies are really expensive. And if it needs a new ion pump you are really screwed. Seriously though, I hope it ends up not too expensive.
  16. I love a creative solution!!!
  17. Yeah, well, just running my mouth as usual. Maybe a Federal judge at each point of entry to decide appropriate punishment on the spot according to new federal guidelines. No appeal process for illegals. And, since we are now buddies with Cuba, maybe we hire the Cuban government to carry out incarceration services for illegals who bring drugs into our country. You know the Castro Bros would love to have some Yankee $. Judge passes sentence then turns the prisoner over to the U.S. Navy who is responsible to transport the prisoner(s) to Gitmo. That is if we still have a Gitmo. Say hello to my buddy Toki who is smarter than John Kerry.
  18. I am a bit shy and pc. You'll note I have never, ever mentioned bounties on illegals, or cutting off a thumb following the 3rd illegal entry into the U.S., or annexing Mexico and renaming it New Arizona. And I never said anything at all about adding a 30% surcharge to Mexico bonds. And I didn't mentioning implementing executive order pegging the exchange value of the peso at 1/10 of a U.S. cent. For starters, how about car crusher equipment at every highway point of entry. If Customs find drugs in a car or truck it will be crushed within the hour. If the drug content exceeds 25 lbs. the vehicle may be crushed with the occupants remaining inside it. Twice a day the crushed vehicles are pushed back across the border by bulldozer.
  19. By the way - how about this for a start. Executive order #1 from the Donald. All Aero Mexico and Mexicana commercial flights to the U.S must land at either LAX, HOU, El Paso, Phoenix, or Miami Intl. Those 5 U.S. destinations only. Those planes may not depart until our Customs Service has filled all seats with Mexican Illegals. Or some version of that idea. Add in LaGuardia and O'Hare if you wish. You get the idea
  20. Maybe they could buy the Mack brand from Volvo?
  21. His gigantic ego will require him to follow through on his commitments and I do believe he will. I like that he will finally will build a fence and Mexico will pay for it. Note: Congress approved the money for a fence long ago but only short sections were ever built. Various congressman brought it to a halt because Repubs want cheap illegal labor an Dems want illegal voters. Basically we the people were sold out and our wishes ignored in favor of the desires of lobbyists. I'd say no big deal to get Mexico to pay. Starts with enforcing trade agreements already in place, revising or repealing NAFTA, etc. Lots of things that can be done and I believe Donald will do them. His ego requires him to live up to his. The far left Latinos and La Raza and their ilk object to being called "illegals." I, not being politically correct, and desiring to be more precise, prefer to call them "criminal trespassers. One other note...We already have a system in place for employers to check the status of job applicants. It is called E-Verify. I propose a $10,000. fine and minimum 6 months imprisonment in a federal penitentiary for the President or CEO or Owner of a company for each incidence of an illegal hired without E-Verify confirmed eligibility. The revenue from these fines to be used to cover the cost of manning the fence, men, vehicles, structures, etc.
  22. kind of partial to Cad engines myself, 429, 472, 500.
  23. And every episode of Beverly Hillbillies starting with season one, episode one is on YouTube. A little lame but it is there. I like watching the old Untouchables series starring Robert Stack, also on YouTube. A bit of trivia, Robert Stack is in the Sheet shooting Hall of Fame. And Sammy Davis, Jr. was a quick-draw champion. His Colt single action revolver is in the National Firearms Museum. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis were fast but not nearly as fast as Sammy. Where are today's Hollywood firearms enthusiasts? Seems like just Ted Nugent.
  24. I didn't look at the photo all that closely. Now I see the Ford-looking engine and the aforementioned shifter. I never heard of this place but rather spotted it from when driving south on I-35 the other day. Just a few miles south of the Red River / OK border. Checked for a website when I got home. Gotta be a hundred acres of old iron there. Mind boggling how many vehicles there.
