  1. Plugged air filter! engine will pull air through air compressor if worn to survive.
  2. My 1956 B-80-81 no rust on frame at all never been painted !!!! better quality metal no recycled sh&t and better Quality Control but the new trucks has to fail.

This is the reason I find a old older Mack in good shape I buy it then figure what to do with it just bought a77- DM-685 with 283 hp 6- speed no air lines cab in perfect shape and frame frog leg new rear springs new tires all the way around and we are painting the cab & nose this wknd so we can put another 500K with no warranty problemo you brake you fix and we bought a 77-R685 in perfect shape just needs paint on the out side . Back in late 80s we sent a tractor for crack block by dip stick and front rear end housing had been leaking over two months it took them to decide whether or not to change at the time we where thinking at buying another 50+ tractors then somebody woke up needles to say we started to do are own work we did buy the CH-613 s radiators- fuel linkage -ring & pinions -air compressors - paint -minor a few problemo's
  4. There is a museum in Danbury Conn. that has the largest private collection of every thing tanks trucks not far away from NYC
  5. Just bought a input shaft for a 6-speed from PAI 196.00 verse mack 1200.00-1400.00 same Mack dealer different sales person I wish I could gouge my costumers. PAI dealers have parts in Mack packages or NOS ?
  6. The DM-400's Gulf ran had a 673-non turbo, Clark tran's to keep under 45 mph- 44 rears no ignition switch 20ft delivery hose 6-500 gal compartments steel tank been on several chassis steel nose and a trip switch on drive shaft we spiffed up a couple them in CONN. what a test drive
  7. Put air1/8" toggle on line between parking brake valve and anaroy on manifold mount inside ash tray they are getting smarter just in case you get the urge to turn it on if the man says boy you tinker with that .

I had the same problem with 01 RD change radiator & fan clutch all set new radiator lasted 1 year started leaking f*%cking new junk park it bought a 1977 DM-685 with a 285 HP smiling always to the bank $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ perfect cab body frame and new virgin tires just needs paint body done with grey and installed with 4 " roller and spray the cab red & white all wheels painted grey hubs black total investment 13.5- K and a big smile.
  9. B.A.C had 1-ten wheeler and three tri-axles Scanias now just 10 wheeler and flat bed tri axle the Superliner tri-axel was sold to local foundation guy he painted red and took off lift axle. They still have one Superliner tractor for a yard tractor in good shape has a blown rear end now for a couple years. Roger Chapman past away several months ago his son took over but not the same what Im told by employees they landed a big job by the Bass pro shop in Bridgeport CT where they are using there 70's DM-600 steel nose quad box winch tractor on site moving piling they only have one driver but pay for two.
  10. A-lot of oil company's used them due to the light weight without the walking beams and had several bad accidents Amoco Sunoco Gulf I had one kept it on box doing T-B-A would cost a lot to change it out
  11. Charge all 4 separately then load test to find the bad one or brake down and buy two new ones and that's all after 10years you got your money and then some . So flavor Flave taking over!!!!!!!!!

Load test each battery individually to see if you have one bad batt the old saying is one bad apple ruins the whole basket same with batts New starters are cheap no rebuilt any more the labor to put in $$$$$$$$$$$$.00 ........................Don't you have connections put a fleet # on it S-Bla-BLA-BLA.
  13. Our town went and bought Internationals -2 they have to keep a loner on hand they cant go week without breaking down the 2 chevys have flat beds on them know for lawn mowers .They did swap out on RT 95 rest area cause it quit on the way to YALE hospital
  14. APA mostly ran Scania in their fleet of R-400 & MB cab overs . There is few guys still race them down at the Diesel nationals in English town drag strip every September .
  15. SAAB Scania had a corporate office in Milford Conn. and a large parts distribution warehouse in Meriden/Wallingford . Kouguts bought 3 tri-axle new Westchester freight lines bought 25 tractors they all burned or crashed B.A.C. bought 4 cab chassis.

  18. Due to the triple counter shafts its a lot heavier!! all depends what it is used for Box- flat -dump -tank Eaton wont hold up to older Mack motors due the hi- torque Mack trans 1800-lbs verse Eaton 1250-1450 toque range and the right injection pump.
  19. Shoulder bolts & reamers for a tight fit and taper the ends to bad you cant go longer your fifth wheel should have e long holes for double frame.

  22. Forward hi beams pull it back trailer lights it should be spring loaded but it is a courtesy switch to flash other truckers.
  23. Here in Connecticut he bought just about every real estate office out and no employees all sub contractors work in the offices not bad for 6% on all transaction very few house under 200k.
