I have a buddy that runs an "automated" SPIF dump, and he doesnt care for it....leads to some sketchy situations as to when the lift deploys. More and more around here are going to twin steers. If its GOTTA be on the ground, you may as well have some control over it. The scrap dealer we haul to just bought a KW twin steer, and he says theyre not going back. All the new trucks will be twin steer. the granite sold today, so i had to empty my junk out of it, and drop it off to be safety and e-tested. i hope its as good to the new owners as it was to me/the company. istared driving it in 2012 with 36,000km, parked at Mack today with 247,96Xkm and 882Xhrs

The boss man had said he wanted the frame and cab painted....but something tells me the quote he got made him think sell this one and get a new one. The 2011 is only grandfathered into SPIF until 2020, then it needs a self steering lift to remain a tri-axle, and the retrofits are cost prohibitive (or so ive been told/can assume). So while it still has fairly low milage and hrs, get what he can for it and replace it with a new one thats good to go past 2020. Im gonna try and talk to him later this week, because if hes gonna order a new truck, i have some suggestions for him.... in the meantime....ill be driving this sexy bitch... Please God, don't have me scratch it...

....anyone in southern ontario looking for a super reliable EPA10 roll off truck thats been well loved?? http://www.kijiji.ca/v-heavy-trucks/cambridge/2011-mack-gu-813-triaxle-roll-off/1260938827?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
  5. .....someone should likely do the legwork to find the problem. Learning to ignore a warning lamp, especially a shut down light.....will let you down one day when its necessary.....
  6. Weird....i have a 2011 GU without DRL (i pulled the relay 4 years ago, got sick of replacing low beam bulbs) and its never thrown a code....
  7. "Highway tractor" or "tractor" (prime mover pulling a trailer(s), "straight truck" or "truck" (like a dump, roll off, cement mixer) around here anyway. is there a screen in the PS res that could be blocked, starving the system? Had a similar issue with a Volvo feed truck. The steering would just "freeze" randomly. I checked everything i could, turned out to be a little filter in the PS can. Took it out, cleaned the screen and the can, reassembled and it was fine.
  8. We had a similar problem with the 89 RD. The wipers would work, but when the switch was put to "park", the wipers would stop mid way. Turned out to be the switch. Not sure why they didnt get swapped to electric when all the work was done.....
  9. Pump? Does it run? Is the pick up plugged?
  10. I see his posts on the BMT facebook group every once and a while. When the season picks up again, i will definately send something. His knowledge around here is missed.
  11. The rear light boxes have a 2" 2-LED marker on the side, and the front of the fender has a 4X2" LED "Fish Eye" marker/signal combo. theres also DOT tape across the tops of the fenders, and there used to be a yellow reflector behind the lamp at the front, and a red reflector ahead of the side marker in the read light box. Edit: on the Granite. The RD doesnt have any side indicators, just little bullet marker lights under the tool boxes and the sides of the rear light boxes.
  12. ....the train that derailed could have called out that something had happend and approaching traffic should slow...
  13. .....no idea....lol. both mine have Hendrickson, the granite has Haulmaxx and the RD is Hendrickson RS they are both fantastic off road. But, im lead to believe camel back is too, i dont know for sure, never been in one.
  14. Took the granite over to the local dealer to have the trailer wiring repaired (long story, not my fault ) Parked it, boss was already there to pick me up. Went inside and the boss was chatting with the service manager. Overheard Bill say something about getting a quote from their body shop to have the Granite painted. The body builder laid a weak paint job on the frame, roll off frame, fenders etc and the cab has a few spots that need touched up. He wants it to match the RD.... ...time to see what i can swing to make the GU as pretty as the RD Wish i had a better pic of the side profile of the RD. I think the granite will look great in black and silver
  15. The former Cambridge Mack was named Mack's NA Dealer of the Year for 2016i have been a "customer" for a few years, and they received some flak for good reason in years past, but they have really stepped up their game recently.http://www.macktrucks.com/community/mack-news/2017/vision-truck-group-named-macks-2016-north-american-dealer-of-the-year/
  16. My 2011 granite still has all but one factory original LED lamp. A marker light on the fender lost half the diodes a few years back. It was replaced on warranty (lifetime) and that's been it.
  17. ....the narrator did say it had "6 forward gears and three braking systems" about halfway through...
  18. No problems here from my iPad, iPhone or windows laptop
  19. that thing's a MONSTER!! Awesome
  20. always been partial to two-tone whatever you do, it'll look good....they're R model wish the spokes were silver too, but i didn't pay the painter lol
  21. Here's a few frame pics of the 89 RD before it was redone. First two show the front frame with the E-6, theres a 20,000lbs steer axle under there. The last two show the double frame in the rear. I can't for the life of me remember if the double frame carries all the way to the front, of if it stops under the cab. I'll double check tomorrow when I get to the site its parked at.
  22. Merry Christmas everyone! taking care of the drinking part now....dont have to go back to work until wednesday lol
  23. Welcome, and you've come to the right place for help and advice Bonne chance! (my family is french, but ive lost ALOT of it living the english part of ontario)
