  1. More gears isn't exactly a bad thing.....but I don't know for sure. I've only ever run "limited torque band" trucks with multi range transmissions.... If it was setup with a 5 speed then it would be a maxi dyne, which might be kinda nice with lots of "options" and tons of power band.
  2. 1st: I see people talking about pulling the codes. On my Sterling it had a Diag. Option on the Odometer readout. How do I pull codes on this truck? Key on, motor running or off, cruise on, push and hold set/resume switch. Count the CEL blinks for the blink codes. X-X are the flashes with a pause in between. Or take it to have it scanned
  3. The dog needs a helmet too.....safety first....
  4. Tqch drive on the 88 rd (e6-350) runs off the pump I think.... Pics would definitely help
  5. Says the video is not available in my country!?!? WTF, holiday here too, eh lol Happy Labour Day......Be safe whatever you're up to.....
  6. Everytime I see a.low entry cabover, I can't help but think "that must ride like crap"
  7. What he said.....*edit: on my '11 GU only the cab marker (outer most) flash, I'D lights front and rear stay lit.....* Engine brake, turn it on, let off throttle, should make noise and maybe slow you down... PTO: i would say no, but I don't run a dump.......
  8. Thanks challenger....i will pass it along.
  9. I think: The "M" in EM6-300 stands for Maxidyne, which means they will pull from around 1000rpm for use with the straight 5speed tranny and the "L" indicates a low speed motor,.lower governed max rpm....witch to me seem like contradictions. What transmission and rears are currently equipped? I also thought that older maxidynes were set with operating range from 1000-1800+ for the maxitorq transmissions....i have been wrong before Somewhere here, if you search, there is a thread with alot of the older engine codes and their meanings..... Someone who knows what they're talking about will be along to help shortly.....
  10. Welcome......helmets are over there..... Good luck on your search. Be sure to watch the "Trucks For Sale" section......
  11. Round 2 Here we go SA 0 SPN 251 FMI 12 Any one ?!?! Lol (Sorry, another V**vo)
  12. The power divider acts as a differential between the front and rear drive axles.....If open (or unlocked) all the power can flow to one wheel (on either axle).....when locked, both drives receive equal torque regardless of traction...... Hell, happened to me last week trying to back into our setup spot for the vac, off the side of a ramp down loading dock....i LOVE my cross locks.....all power, all wheels, ALL THE TIME...... (wasn't dumb enough to try to turn while all locked up on asphalt )
  13. See?! I KNEW someone who knows what they're talking about would be along....
  14. Check the wiring, seem to think they were known for chewing through the insulation where the wiring goes under the valve cover(?)...if it checks out, move the faulty injectors and see if the codes follow the "bad" injectors..... That's just what I've absorbed from reading on here....someone with more knowledge will likely chime in....
  15. Maybe a flat spot in the starter?? I had more than a few vehicles that needed rocked or hit with a 2X4 to start.....too damn cheap to replace a starter lol
  16. Between 3 and 4 sorta in my 8LL over.....
  17. bc mack:. Thanks eh *sniffle* I thought you and I were brothers lol I may be a child of the metric system, but I still measure in inches.....because that how my tape is set up lol. Lift rams are either side mound low on the frame ahead of the front drive and the on the front of the rails....most of the space between the frame rails is air and hydraulic lines etc....and there's very little room between the head of the rails and the back of the cab......but it has crossed my mind to tuck tank(s) in where there is wasted space, but legality comes into question....i could get 10-15L here and there, but...... Reuhlz:. Thanks.....my "estimates" are WAY off apparently.....33 gals works out to 124 litres, I've run it pretty low and the actual amount to fill from 1/16th tank is over 200L.....but, 9 gallons would give about another 100km of range.....I'll use the formula provided to figure it out tomorrow.....
  18. Yep.....that's the outfit. Seen ALOT of them the last little bit....mostly Mack but a few others.....dumps, water tankers, tractors. Lots of Granites, old and new....or the same few trucks over and over and over lol. Spending too much time in the "City"......
  19. I currently have a 200l (fn useless, gives about 500km average) round fuel tank on my granite. Sadly, there is nowhere else on the frame to mount an aux tank. I see lots of trucks running around with both square and "D" shaped tanks. I'm pretty good at math (ish), but I would like to know how much more capacity I could get if it were square......and maybe a rough estimate as to cost of a square or "D" shaped tank. I was switched to hauling gravel for the vac, and lately have been running GTA (anywhere from downtown Toronto to Brampton/Mississauga) to Ayr and back up to three times a day, which means fuelling up EVERY FN TRIP....luckily there is a fuel depot for our supplier 7 mins from the pit, and a stones throw from the 401 I have measured the tank before, but my notes are in my truck.....30 something inches long and 18(?) inches across Any insight is appreciated And I will post the dimensions tomorrow if someone can help.... Thanks in advance
  20. Years ago I ran a loader in a rock yard and there was a miserable old ford SA dump (known as the penalty box) that had a box with removable sides....works great for switching between skidded loads of stone and bulk delivery....those walls were fn heavy lol......
