  2. 2002 Mack Granite tri-axle roll off. No idea for motor (likely around 350hp?). I do remember 8ll fuller and axle forward model, turned like a friggin house!!!! No one liked it so no one drove it. I used it on the farm to shunt feed bins, then when the boss man let me do runs on Saturdays, that was usually the truck I took, cause I was used to it. Sorry guys, no pics. And from what I hear from his drivers, it's been sold.......(RIP NRD#10)

  4. Beause certain meathead "drivers" don't know how to use pushers and tags, the truck calculates the weight and drops/pressurises the axle accordingly....no driver control......bs......glad we're grandfathered for a little while at least.....
  5. Should have got pics of all the other trucks on the hook at the dealer when we got there. Apparently it's a bad day to be a driver and an awesome day to run a wrecker around K-W lol
  6. I was thinking there must be another fuse block somewhere....didn't know it was there....thanks for the info. Back at Mack now anyway, we'll see what they figure out.
  7. Nope......exhausted what I could do on site with only an adjustable wrench and called the boss man, who is a former heavy truck mechanic, and he called a wrecker to come get it. Back at the shop now.....I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the reply, tho.

  9. Argh....sitting on site, idle timer shut it down, now no crank. All relays under the dash are clicking away as they always did. All other electrical components work (radio etc). Starter wires are tight and solid other than being a bit dirty, tried tapping the starter, no luck. All fuses (that I can figure) for the starting system are ok, switched the ignition relay and still nothing....

Seen my buddy the other night (mentioned him before, the guy with them EPA07 MP7 with the dpf issues), he said his boss man ordered a 2014 GU813 (as he had heard good thing about the def systems). But, this one's got the SPIF crap and air ride, so after doing what I could to explain to him about the SPIF (over a few "pops"), we got talking about the air ride......needless the say, he is cautiously optimistic obout the improved ride.....only real advice I could offer is "make sure that thing has full locks).....

  12. I run a EPA10 MP7 and have had no emissions related trouble in 4200+hrs and 125,000km.....only actual trouble is the odd engine light and that set of injector cups. However, a good friend of mine has the same motor (MP7 405-M), but with EPA07 emissions, and has had nothing but problems.....I've lost count of how many DPF's he's put in it now. So far, from what i hear and have read, the EPA10 (DPF & DEF) systems seem to do alright. Someone WILL correct me if I'm wrong, lol

  17. kinda what i was thinking......the truck may be able to take it, but i have tried and had to wrestle a few really heavy bins on my gu......22,000kg PAYLOAD in a 40yd can.....shhhhh, i was only 10,000kg over gross. the site and the dump were literally down the street from one another, otherwise i would have left it there......

I have never had a tape to my rails (universal handling equipment) or the rd (capital disposal equipment), but a small side guess would say the rails are 2" wide by 8"-10" rectangle tube on both with 3/8" ( for sure) wear bars, and both are rated at 48,000lbs (give or take). There are a few apex running around here that might be 2x4" tubing with hydraulic winches for the cable, so I would assume the capacity would be about half....tilt and load trucks up this way are about identical and when chatting with a guy from battlefield, his was rated at only 15,000lbs......damn I love talking roll off lol. Done for now, maybe

If it's a hydraulic reeving type(either a 2 or 3 stage telecoping hydraulic cylinder or a single stage with a "double pull" line setup), do what you can to look for leaks on the cable cylinder....tip the rails and watch for oil...the old rd has a couple big scratches in he cylinder and leaks like a bastard if left in just the right spot. Also look for loose or missing hardware on the roll off frame....new guy lost two bolts that hold the bottom of the cable (hoist) cylinder and ended up twisting the expand line off the damn thing...also, look at hinges and pivot points for signs of frequent greasing or lack therof, and cracks at the stops (front of rails) and the hinge plates. Check wear bars on the rail tops and damage on the tails (end of rails that touches the ground, usually a result of dragging). Ah yes, obviously have a good look at the cable and hook, had to replace the on on the rd, got 3 different $amounts for the cost, and I'll just say none were cheap lol. Had mor to say but the kids made me loose my train of thought. I could ramble on and on about roll offs.....try and get some pics of the bed and I will pick thru 'em.....
  21. What kind of hoist is on it? If you can find out I bet you could Google the model and find out its capacity. Both ours have data tags on em that give all the important info I bet if it has a winch for the cable it would be a smaller unit. At least that's what it is around here.
  22. Chalmers seems to be standard equipment on most mixers around here. The pig farmer I worked for had at least one western star 4900 with Chalmers, driver preferred it over the Hendrickson haulmaxx on the other trucks.
  23. Okay.....shame on me, haven't got it in yet. Tomorrow for sure, only one bin to get at. The valve is only a bypass? Should I be seeing a drop in boost, because there isn't any. Is it part of the boost controlling system, or is that accomplished strictly through the variable vanes.....Sorry to pester, but I gotta know....
