  1. Can u bridge the wires to fool the computer into thinking it's ok? I did that on my coolant sensor. It would be a temporary fix.
  2. Nice find. Does the end fold over? Is it hydraulic or is it light enough to lift over by hand?
  3. For the most part, our engines are exactly the same as what you have there, except the Mack has a different rating. Starting off would be low gear. But also the diff ratio would be slow, like around 4.89. They are speed limited to 90km/h here, that's about 56mph. If I were to guess (and that's all it is) I'd say 85% of their driving would be between 75km/h (46mph) 90km/h.
  4. There are a few hills hills around that triples/quads are supposed to break up to go over. But the experienced will simply come to a stop at base of hill and crawl over in 1st or 2nd to avoid such problems.
  5. 175t. It's based in Western Australia and under concessional loading you can 23.5t on each tri axle group.
  6. No drive shaft = no engine brake. That could be a deadly on the wrong road.
  7. Looks like it's 80's inspired. Doesn't actually look too bad.
  8. By that, do you mean the massive amount of car manufacturers allowed to sell in this country? For a population of about 24mil we have over 60 manufacturers selling here. Compared to US population of over 400mil and how many manufacturers sell there? I was told roughly 35. But ford (and Holden) needed to realise big cars are on the nose. Instead of making them bigger and heavier they should of down sized them. Anyway, it's sad to see them go.
  9. That's a beauty for sure. Is that the one with the crook Cummins?
  10. So how tempted were you to load the Pete on the back and drive the Mack home?
  11. I think your an Aussie at heart Brocky!
  12. As far a aftermarket kits go, hot rod shops or summit.
  13. I have read elsewhere that 34k used aluminium components, was this strictly the case all th time? Mine is all steel/iron so is this an indication it may be 38k? By diffs I meant rear housing is cast and front housing is fabricated.
  14. How do you identify 34k suspension vs 38k? I've pulled my rear end out, My front diff is 38k andmy rear diff is 44k. I assumed the suspension was 38k but guy working on it thinks it's a 34k. Is there a way to identify them visually?
  15. Looks like old cattle crates. It would of been heavy and then some more!
  16. There are some mining companies here that use the 19l Cummins cause they have a long service life. I've heard up to 20,000 hours between rebuilds.
  17. It's a shame the seat has let you down. You spend 100% of your time driving in a seat so it pays to have a good one, and at $1200 you'd think you were getting a good one. Nice to see you beating them daf, I mean paccar engines for fuel and power.
  18. Doesn't look like you can move it any further forward judging by the 2nd pic. Maybe look at shortening your arms?
  19. Old Yellow looks great in new clothes! Like the painted fuel tanks. Less polishing!
  20. So what era is the truck and 335 Cummins? Im guessing the big cam and magnum 400 was early/mid 80's? I bet there was lots of 335's changed out for either new engine through Cummins dealers. I wouldn't be too worried about doing that swap. But that's just me. I'd like to see the rig when the deal is done.
  21. So your looking at a truck which originally had a 335 but has been repowered with a magnum 400? I wouldn't stress too much about it if that were the case. Sounds like it was something Cummins offered. Back when it was a working truck it would be a big plus!
  22. Back to the topic at hand. By what do they mean 33ft trailers are less dangerous than 28ft trailers? In my experience the longer the trailer the straighter they tow. Also, you don't need to run multiple combinations on every road in the country. Just the routes between major cities. And if they are kept on these multiple lane highways then overtaking isn't an issue either. With respect to triaxle trailers, here in Aus you have 20t limit over 3 axles compared to 16.5t over 2 axles. I've also been following a company that sells a new concrete primarily for use in bridge and highway use. So the condition of the bridges is surprisingly bad!
  23. Can I ask about the fuel tanks in the R700? It looks way to shiny to be ordinary paint. Are they chrome plated or chrome powder coated?
  24. I think your a bit modest. That's some nice work for someone who doesn't do it for a living. Good stuff!
  25. Now them trucks look familiar... That's my dad and my brother.
