  1. Impressive looking truck. Would definitely be handy!
  2. I've heard they're quite good at doing that...
  3. Paul mate, I was thinking the same thing. And not by a little bit either.
  4. And what's the price in the US? Are we getting ripped off down here or is that reasonable?
  5. What a ripper! Good find, and best of luck with the rest of it.
  6. There are soldering rods available for aluminium if your after a more permanent fix. Looks easy enough to do from looking at the videos. http://www.alumiweld.com that is one example of them.
  7. I have no experience with any v8 Mack. But I know guys who do, and I don't think it was as good as the mechanical ones. Ive seen a fair few Titans that have been repowered with cats or Cummins.
  8. Lucky he wasn't driving a freightliner or it would of been a write off! I take it your son is ok? At times like this you just have to look to the future. There will come a time where your health is better, your trucks are running good again and you will look back and say I made it through.
  9. I've heard of the book but I'm yet to read it. By the sounds of things he revolutionised transport here in Aus. I'm gonna get that book I think...
  10. Thomas nationwide transport has come a long way.
  11. Good on her. Giving it a go! I'll have to show my mate this article cause he couldn't get a job with them! She sounds like my mum. She is up and down the road most weeks, then does book keeping in her time off. I can only imagine what others are thinking when I'm traveling with her and call her up on the CB... "You there mum?"
  12. She looks like she is running after you!
  13. I could be wrong, but wouldn't the springs in question be the external ones in your picture? Where the excellerator linkage goes into the pump? I see you have one Spring hanging down. Try installing that 2nd spring and see if it makes a difference. Will cost you about 2 minutes.
  14. A guy asked the same question not so long ago. Sounds like a great idea.
  15. I'm wondering how much weight could be removed from the cab. Things like seats, doors, stacks, interior parts and glass? Maybe you can knock up/hire a mobile gantry crane. Lift one side with that and your forklift on my he other side and drag the chassis out.
  16. Superdog is right, that's not an Aussie truck. At first glance I thought it was a freightliner bunk. But after cleaning my spat out coffee off the screen I agree it looks like an able body mack bunk. It looks like a quality job was done installing it. Just hope they didn't butcher a good cab.
  17. If I were to have a guess, I'd say between 2 or 3 ton. Someone told me a kw cab was 2t and they are mainly aluminium and fibreglass. Like I said, I'm just guessing. if it's for lifting or carrying purposes then it's always better to guess a bit more. Maybe the size of the hydraulic rams might give a good starting estimate?
  18. Splendid job! What some people can do with a sheet of metal really amazes me. What time frame was this work carried out over?
  19. That turned out great! That will look right at home behind your big Mack!
  20. Synchro's wear out, and with dick heads behind the wheel they wear out sooner rather than later. There aren't many standards set to become a truck driver. So I look at driving a non synchro box as an aptitude test so to speak. But can understand others peoples opinion on it being easier. I guess person preference is a personal thing...
  21. I think it's down on the lower panel of the dash, near your maxi brakes and trailer brakes. At least that's where mine is. Try pulling the air line off the wiper motor and put some lubricant in there. I did that with mine and it works good now.
  22. Let me know how it goes. You using plastic line? And I've read about some boost gauges fluttering, let me know if yours does that. I'm going to put one on mine soon.
  23. How great is that! Looks like you got yourself a very tidy old girl there.
  24. I reckon the parts guys will be loving you right about now. But it beats buying a new one. At least you know what's been done on your own trucks, and know it's been done right!
  25. In my (limited) experience I have noticed that with unequal pressure from inner to outer tyres will come premature tyre wear. Albeit this was observed under working conditions.
