  1. I think these types of combinations make sense. In Aus with a tri/tri b-double you get roughly 24t on rear trailer and 12t on front trailer. Thats 50% more freight but you would only use 30% more fuel. Roads permitting of course.
  2. Great job! Once it's done I'm sure it'll last another 50 years.
  3. Now we have grand tiger, Great Wall and cherry cars being sold in Aus. For a population of just 24 mil we have over 60 different manufacturers selling here.
  4. Looks like you done a good job. How does it ride now?
  5. Is there pollution control on Chinese trucks? Euro-4 standard (SCR) with Euro-5 (SCR) available. Euro-6 (SCR + DPF) available next year. Suppliers are Bosch, Tenneco, BASF and Corning..........the same names involved with the global brands.
  6. Far out, this could story is close to home. My little boy loves rubbish bins and rubbish trucks too. And if I'm home on Wednesdays when it's collected I'll rush out with him. Great story!
  7. The air line your after should be 1/4 in. Mine has two 1/4 air lines, and one 1/2 in. You see in my picture one air line is off, that's the sucker right there. It should be energised when brakes are released.
  8. That's a lot of mouths to feed!
  9. Hi Steve. Correct, I have heard that they want to bring in 28 day payment. Which is a good thing, I mean I have to pay for my fuel every month, and tyres servicing etc. But like I said, I haven't been following as closely as I should have. What are they protesting about? Surely everyone wants 28 day payments. And what's all the talk of 30,000 owner drivers losing their jobs? I might ad that none of this affects me hence my ignorance on the matter. I do have an interest however.
  10. If you like what you do, you will be good at it. Just take your time and enjoy it.
  11. I probably haven't followed this as closely as I should have, but from what I've been told is the minimum rates are 25% higher than current rates. And the owner drivers / sub contractors are worried the bigger companies will just put on more trucks, and they'll lose their job.
  12. Necessity is the mother of all inventions. Looks like it'll the the job nicely.
  13. He is a mate of my dads, never got to see his truck much though. There was another Oshkosh tow truck (wrecker) from telegraph point, but the name of the guy is not with me just yet.
  14. Hi Andy, welcome to bigmacktrucks. Lots of info on here, and lots of nice folks willing to help. I've never been to Canberra but I'm a fan of the raiders. Cheers, Tim.
  15. Might need some new tyres and undies after that one.
  16. Nice trucks, I like the RD in particular. Thanks for sharing.
  17. Wow it's that easy? My mechanic reckons he has a special machine to do it and charges me lots of money. Now I can do it myself for a fraction of the cost. P.S. Glad I don't own a BMW!
  18. Very nice work indeed! I'd love to hear your thoughts on how well the dynamat works as my truck is noisey inside. If I remember correctly my dads e7 400 should be making about 32psi. Great job!
  19. I don't like it... I love it! You have done a great job.
  20. I've done about 99% of all my driving in a cab over Kenworth. They are a really well built truck. Interior has about 4 pieces of plastic, rest is fibreglass and aluminium. Only squeak that comes out of mine is the passenger seat. And the turning circle is amazing compared to them big conventional trucks. Thanks for the read.
  21. Did you weld up all the holes that were no longer needed? Is there any special way to do it? Truck looks nice, good job!
  22. I sincerely hope it's not man cold/flu! That can be serious!
  23. It's good to have you back KSC!
  24. I've got a little 4.5t Isuzu tray back. It's a good little truck. It's basic and basic is good. It's probably a bit under powered but I've noticed these old "under powered" diesels went forever so I'm happy to live with it.
