  1. 49 years truckin with your old man, that's a good effort! I've been truckin with my dad 14 years now. We fight like cats and dogs sometimes but 10 minutes later we have forgotten about it. I like the pics!
  2. Hi Paul. Nah, these guys haven't done the dye yet. I think in this case the dye would work well. It takes a few months to lose gas so it more than likely wouldn't show up in 24hr leak test.
  3. I like Jims suggestion. I immediately thought white with black shadow, but gold would be nice too.
  4. I have an ecowind diesel air conditioner fitted to my truck, http://www.lesliesauto.com.au/pdf/Ecowind%20Brochure.pdf over the past 18months it has lost its gas about 4 times. It keeps going back and they say they hey find something but only for it to happen again. They also told me they have filled it with nitrogen and left it for 24 hrs and there was no drop in pressure. Is there a dye you can add to the system and it shows up with a certain type of light once it has leaked out? any thoughts? they also said it could be he Tx valve? Would that cause the same symptoms as low gas?
  5. Is this a Mack thing or something Volvo have done and passed on to Mack?
  6. I remember Alcoa had a sealer years ago. Seems to have disappeared off the market. Google told me about Gords metal polish. It's supposed to be a cleaner, Polish and sealer in one.
  7. Man I love that truck! Top job on the transplant. He a skilled surgeon.
  8. Who said that? Does the new website have Braille?
  9. Is very small print on the mobile page... And my eyesight has gotten progressively worse since my teenage years. But I have faith in Barry. Sort of.
  10. Are you sure it's not an electric tachometer? The one in my kw is electric and runs off the alternator. When it cuts out it usually means alternator is on its way out.
  11. Let them always be remembered for making reasonable, ok, internationals.
  12. So how many dollars did cat invest in their truck "making" business? I think it would of been better to spend that money on making their engine comply with emissions. Red horse, Sir you really hit the nail on head.
  13. Thanks for the comments. Regarding the vent, you've given me something to ponder... This truck does have air conditioning and it keeps my left knee very cool, not so much the rest of my body.
  14. It's made out of 3 inch square tube, about 4mm thick. From top bracket to bottom bracket is 1200mm, and when mounted on the truck should be about 1 inch narrower than the cab and finish inline with the top of the window. Sorry I can get exact measurements if you like, but not till next week. I hope to dummy fit it pretty soon with new exhaust and some cross braces.
  15. That's spooky... We are living in the future!
  16. I've never used the chat room, because I mainly check in on my phone. But I'll be sure to say g'day one time.
  17. I'll get some tie down points for the baby capsule. 8mm chain should do the trick!Funny thing with my truck, there was no vent in the roof to start with. Just a bit of sheet metal held in by rubber. My dads truck is the same. And the vent on the passenger side was covered by the air filter bracket so wasn't usable. But I'm gonna try insulate as much as I can. Trailer is nearly done. Just waiting for hydraulics and paint. Probably 2 weeks and I'll have some finished pics.
  18. If it was our Jim Hancock, then maybe he should think about using a stage name? Can't have any literary masterpieces being linked to this site. We have reputashion er, an image to uphold!
  19. Then I had to repair some damage to the back of the cab due the the stacks and mounts hitting it. They were previously mounted like this... So I made up some decent frames to hold them straight. That's about it for the time being. I'll keep the pics coming as more gets done, but I'm not setting any records doing so...
  20. Then I had a friend come out and help with some rust. Under the lights and near the roof vent rubber was bad so we just plated the whole lot. Plus there was a few other little patches on the roof. A lot of water had made it into the cab and ruined the roof linings but that's another story. Then there was a vent that is on my passengers side that was rust, but the vent is covered up cause my truck has twin air cleaners. So we plated that also. There was a bit of body filler from a previous repair but not much rust so I'm happy.
  21. I've started to tidy up my old mack. It's mechanically sound but it's rough in the looks department. These are just some progress pictures, things are going slow due to work and family commitments but I'm chipping away at it. First thing was to remove the bug deflector and the pubic hair from around the wheels. Then I dummied up some twin air horns. They are not the type I was originally wanting but I don't hate them and it's not going to ruin the truck so they can stay.
  22. That's turned out really nice! Love the colour! I take it no more hired guys in it from now on?
  23. What sort of kw is that? I'd rather watch them big loads then steer one.
  24. They still make roads the same way here!
  25. We had a kw with an eaton auto shift. It was an 03 model that still had the clutch pedal. We had something go wrong with it and had a reman one put it. Not long after a that we decided to change it back to a manual shift and the near new auto shift was replaced... It couldn't be converted to a manual shift. I was never in that truck so I didn't hear the the details but I'm assuming you would need a new gearbox.
