  1. Or better yet, take me for a drive! As everyone else has said it looks fan-bloody-tastic!
  2. I reckon 336hp at the wheels is pretty good for a 350hp engine.
  3. Yes, it's where the bearings sit that has worn. Do you think the sleeve will wear too quick?
  4. Your a legend Paul! My local Gleemans blokes are really good guys, so I'll get them on the case. If I have any dramas I might see if you can get the part number your Gleemans guys to help my guys out.
  5. Well the diff is out of the truck so I can run it anywhere I need to. It's got about 1mm wear, or 0.04inch but while its out of the truck I wanna get it fixed. A wear or speedy sleeve sounds perfect for this. I'm surprised none of the engineering shops mentioned it when I called them?
  6. Good point. I'll ask and find out.
  7. Thanks for the response, this is on a cast iron 44 and to me it looks like it's pressed in. The quill/spindles alone will cost me $770 plus however much to get them installed. Metal spraying is completely new to me, but I don't know how wear resistant it is.
  8. It might be an Australian term, it's the part of the diff that the hub bearings sit on and has the thread on the end for bearing load and hole in the middle for axle. Is there another way of referring to it so more people will understand what I'm talking about?
  9. Hi guys, has anyone had any experience with repairing or replacing the quills/spindles on mack diffs? I have pulled apart an old diff and the bearing has only slightly started wearing the quills. On the inner bearing there is probably a 1mm lip and outer bearing is only the slightest little lip forming. I can get it re-quilled for $2000 for one side or $3800 for both sides. Or I can get it metal sprayed for a lot less, but some guys have questioned metal spraying. Interested to hear your experience.
  10. Honestly I think the wheels have been photo shopped. But sadly the paint and everything else is probably real...
  11. I like them done tastefully too... Like this one!
  12. Yeah, it's before the transfer pump and works on vacuum. Any blocked filters or lines and hopefully this gauge will let me know about it. It has an air restraint gauge too. I haven't seen either of them move since I've been in the truck.
  13. Cheers, well mine must have been a brand new one. Thanks guys.
  14. I can give you a bit of a comparison. We have a 6nz c15 and one one job we were doing coming home empty I would get 3km per litre. My dads Mack with a e7, and 12sp and 4.17's got 3.5km per litre. It's about the only time the two trucks were loaded the same (empty, single trailer) and the Mack was far more economical. Just our own experience...
  15. I'd love to be able to do that... There is real skill in doing a good job of modeling!
  16. Thanks guys. Are remack engines tagged differently? IE, would it actually say remack? I've seen a remack diff before and the tag screamed at me "remack"! I guess I assumed mack would of phased out the 2v when the 4v came along.
  17. My truck has is an '84 build, with a 2v engine. Tag on the engine says "date of service assy mfg" and is marked at 6/89. Is that it's build date?
  18. I have a fuel restraint gauge in my kw. Has a line running from the fuel/water primary filter. I can't understand it...
  19. And you've been hooked ever since? That's a nice looking truck...
  20. Has been an interesting read. Glad you got it going again and it sounds like a bit of a rocket! Hope the fuel economy isn't affected by the extra power...
  21. Sometimes I wish u had done an apprenticeship after I left school. Other times, I'm glad I didn't!
  22. I like that! And eyes closed! Haha
  23. Anyone here heard the song "CB savage"?
  24. Unbelievable! That poor bridge!
  25. Slim Dusty - Lights on the hill. Slim Dusty - Pushing time. Red Sovine - Phantom 309 Willie Nelson - On the road again. Just a few I like.
