  1. Thought id add one of my dads old mack. It was only 4 years old when he got it, has a 400hp e7, and mack 12speed. Was sold to my uncle, who ran it for years and sold it once he retired. Was rumoured to be the last valueliner made. Not sure how true that is?
  2. So will you be leaving the bunk on so long as you own it? I think, seeing as you don't like the crawl thru opening id make the cab fit the bunk. Seems better to do that, than modify the bunk to fit your cab (cause you don't like the crawl thru), or modify the bunk AND the cab to the "V" style opening.
  3. That's nothing to sneeze at! I remember older guys telling me when they went from shutters to Horton fan they gained 30hp so it must of been true (truck drivers don't lie).
  4. So why did Mack Australia make its own bunks but not in the US?
  5. A change is as good as a holiday!
  6. The Aussie dollar is low. I think it $1 will buy 70c us cents. So that's about 30% difference. Also the shipping and converting to rhd. Then there is profit, fat profit. To compare, I think a new land cruiser ute (pick up) is around $70,000.
  7. That truck is gonna look a million dollars when it's done. Looking fwd to seeing the new paint! P.S. Good to hear that your gonna work it when your done.
  8. Your crazy to sell that thing! But I guess you have your reasons. Good luck selling her, and hope you don't grow to regret it.
  9. Worst case scenario, put a standard high tensile hex head bolt and nyloc nut back in its place.
  10. http://bangshift.com/bangshiftxl/incredible-restoration-1979-kenworth-k100-truck-one-best-things-internet/ https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=oa.408883325837399&type=1 Hope they work.
  11. That's a nice jigger! Like has already been said, most kw coe's I've seen have fibreglass roof and aluminium sheet on the sides. The sheet is fixed with huck bolts, so invest in one of them if you plan on doing some panel work yourself. I think I've seen a blog sorta thing of a bloke rebuilding one. I'll try find it and post a link.
  12. Have you got a picture of the bolt that came outta it?
  13. By the looks of the design, anything with a nut on it should be able to be undone. As a matter of fact, them style cross members would be very hard to get out without removing them. Just so long as you can replace them with something. My truck has the back-to-back style cross member.
  14. On my dads and mine they just have standard high tensile bolts and nuts. That may just be an Aussie thing, but it hasn't fallen apart yet!
  15. I have heard of liftable axles getting caught up while off road. Would a bogie, with interaxle diff lock (front and back) and cross locks (left and right) work just as good?
  16. Man that truck of yours is tuff looking!
  17. I think this is it. FAW 357? On the other side of the axle is 3qhf544a.
  18. More than I expected! I just thought it would be bolt on fit. Anyway, I'm not too bothered, it's still a Mack no matter what rims I run on the front.
  19. This style of rim.
  20. Yeah there is a 9 inch offset rim. Had a look at a shop, that could solve my problems but new I think they are around $450 each.
  21. So it is! I must pay closer attention to detail!
  22. Your dead right Paul! Anyway, I wont have to keep the buggers polished, so that one plus to come outta it. Im very happy with my local parts place, they helped me as much as they could and reckon I shouldn't have a drama to return the parts.
  23. I will look forward to the progress report and pictures! That kw looks to be ok, why is he parting it out?
  24. So after mucking around some more I decided to start the old girl and check the clearance when I turn the wheels full lock. Tyre hits the steering arm on the steering box. I know I can adjust the steering so it stops just short of it, but it's hitting with a 10mm spacer behind the rims and with skinny tyres on it. I'd have to adjust it a lot! So I'm at peace with it now, I tried but it didn't work for me. Putting my wobbly wheels back on it.
  25. On my kw I can set the cruise for high idle. Then i can press micro switch with my hand to see if it works. If its intermittent it could be a dicky switch.
