  1. So I received my new hubs, both the bearings and the seal fits. I think I'm into a winner here! WAIT! Wheel won't spin to do bearings up. Rim is touching the ball joint thingy. What the f#*k am I missing?
  2. I've plated mine also. Had rust under the lights in front of it so just plated the lot. Mind you there wasn't a vent in mine, just a flat plate held in by rubber.
  3. In Aus the single rail and double rails were different height. Mine is a single, and it's just under 10.5inches high, and top and bottom flanges are about 3.5inches wide. 8mm thick. The double rail are about 9inches high.
  4. Now a REAL smooth operator would of got them panties off and left everything thing else on.
  5. That's handy! Would soon pay for its self.
  6. Agreed, that looks really nice. The height lines up perfect, like they were made for each other.
  7. I've always been meaning to go to Alice for this, but life always gets in the road Looks like a show, did the tour include the private collection or was that something you knew about personally?
  8. Nice looking truck by the way!
  9. On the mobile version, I can click the picture and and open it and zoom in on it. Can't do that on the tapa talk one. How do you post pics using mobile site?
  10. Here in Aus, some of the neatest Macks use a kW aero1 style sleeper.
  11. Is this for a transmission cooler? If it's a cooler in the radiator, do yourself a big favour and buy an external one and plug up the one in the radiator. As far as running lines, try and keep them straight, out of the road and not touching anything. Use lots of P clamps to stop it rubbing. Hope that's helped ya some...
  12. Late model 4x4's that have leaf springs use a nylon spacer in between leafs. It's helps to reduce friction from metal on metal contact, and is supposed to make for a smoother ride. Wonder if that can be done for a truck spring pack?
  13. Depends on the budget. Air ride conversion would be a fair bit. Removing the some leafs would work. Maybe ask someone smarter than me which ones to take out. Cutting springs shorter would make it stiffer wouldn't it? Also look into parabolic/tapered leaf springs as another alternative.
  14. We have a good reason for driving in the left. I found this in the net. "In the past, almost everybody travelled on the left side of the road because that was the most sensible option for feudal, violent societies. Since most people are right-handed, swordsmen preferred to keep to the left in order to have their right arm nearer to an opponent and their scabbard further from him. Moreover, it reduced the chance of the scabbard (worn on the left) hitting other people."
  15. Some really nice trucks. Would of been a good day.
  16. In Aus we got an electronic e9 in later years, hp ratings of 525, 575 and 610.
  17. I haven't noticed many on the U.S. Trucks I've seen on here. I've seen a few cold starts on YouTube, and they crank them suckers for a fair bit till they get going. I'm putting air start on mine soon, so I'll most probably be asking for some advice soon Paul.
  18. Looks right at home in front of your trailer already!
  19. Definitely!
  20. What's not to love? The Mack and scania v8's sound similar. The 3408 is a nice sounding engine too.
  21. Religion! Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs but no thanks, not for me!
  22. How do scrap yards come to get these? Surely blind Freddy can see that it's worth more than scrap value. Anyway, I hope it gets saved, either by yourself or someone else.
  23. Nice find superdog! It's good to have a win every now and then. And the first pic, your original one, is an absolute beauty!
  24. I bought a set of batteries for my Mack, they were brand new but had been on the shelf for about 12 months. I got them for about 1/2 price.
  25. If you click quote in the bottom right corner it will copy that post and you can ad a reply to it (Like I just did). You got some good advice from some smart people. Hope that what ever you do, it's for the best and your happy with it.
