  1. I'm glad you found your dream truck, and wish you all the best with the restoration. Your on the right site, these guys on here know just about anything worth knowing. I look ford to the progress pics!
  2. Things are moving along nicely. What's a rebuild worth over there (USA)? Did you notice a performance difference between the 2v and 4v?
  3. Some of the mid 90's kw's came with rectanglular headlights. Others retro fit them.
  4. I'm looking at doing the same thing. I've came across one that had the red filter (not sure if its primary or secondary) mounted on the side of the radiator. That's on an Australian valueliner but I think the bonnet and grill is same width so could be done on an R model.
  5. The top two pics look like the ranger we have in Australia. It's a ford design, Mazda build so I'm lead to believe. And from the local sales, people love it.
  6. What size batteries 1mack1? Who ever fitted my one up used four n70's. All our Kenworths use four batteries so I just assumed I'd need four to start the mack. When filter is fitted inside the chassis is it easy to change?
  7. Thanks for the replies. I'll have a look at mine and see if I can mount them there. I've got a few options now!
  8. I see most R models with battery start have dual battery boxes behind the steer axle. So my question is where are the fuel filters in the pics below located? Any pics of where your ones are would be a great help, as I want to put a battery box there.
  9. This is a bit different. We have an e7 that was reduced to 4in between the chassis and the engine. Had the 4 inch section cut out and replaced with 5 inch pipe and it made a noticeable difference. No boost gauge in this truck so not sure what difference it made but according to the seat of my pants its was a bit!
  10. I am thinking along the same lines... I was gonna go 4.5inch (114mm) from turbo. According to my math it should be a 20% increase in volume over 4inch. And it should still fit between engine and chassis. Then I was gonna go to 5 inch just for increased flow, more muffler options and unleash the sound.
  11. Was your R model originally an electronic speedo? Most 18sp eaton I've seen use speed sensors and an electronic speedo.
  12. I was told by another truck driver that all e7's used Robert bosch. And we all know truck drivers don't lie... Much.
  13. It's definitely an en7, anyway I don't know much about them so I might just stay away. On another note, how do I delete a post? I posted the original on my phone and somehow posted it twice.
  14. I've been looking at options for re powering my old r model in the future. A mechanical e7 is top of the wish list, but I've just seen an en7-400 for sale. The guy selling it hasn't been very helpful, but he did say it has an electronic pedal. And it's out of a mid 90's truck. What can anyone tell me about these? Do they have an ECM? Is it a mechanical pump with adjustable timing? I'm getting pics emailed to me soon.
  15. Easiest would be a reman. gearbox.
  16. Nice work buddy. It's a good feeling when your truck is running sweet like that. Notice any chafe in fuel economy yet?
  17. The fuel pump in question And the plate on the block The plate on the fuel pump... For what it's worth.
  18. Thank you Glenn. You've pointed me in the right direction. I'm off to the local saw mill;-)
  19. In case anyone wants to know, it has an American bosch model 300 pump. Pics coming very soon.
  20. Hi guys. Just been throwing some things around my head. I have 2v 300hp e6. The plate on the motor says it makes 300hp @ 2100rpm. Is there a way to get the same power but at a lower rpm. I'm not talking of a maxidyne type power. More like the 350 4v which makes it's power at 1850rpm.
  21. Lovely rig you have there mate! Hope mine looks like that some day.
  22. Thanks Paul. Quiet times allow for a bit more work in the shed. I'm actually really enjoying it, although I've taken my time and there is no dead line. I've also discovered a few tools along the way to make the left hand side a lot easier. Having said that, I wouldn't wanna do this sorta job too often.
  23. This is it after it had been chiseled, grinded, wire brushed and sanded. This is after some rust converter. And applying some paint. I'm using white knight rust kill epoxy. Should be better than nothing...
  24. Paul, it doesn't look like there was any paint in between the rails. I'm gonna use some rust kill epoxy paint to prevent it from happening again. I know what you guys are on about, I've seen some pics in here where they have cut them off and welded new rails on. I guess mine is more like a prevention job. What do people use to fill the pitts left from rust? I know it's purely for cosmetics, but I was thinking of using body filler on them.
