Aussie RHD fibreglass R model dash

Hey guys, the Aussie Mack's seem to be always breaking the dash boards. There isn't many I've seen that don't have a cracked one. Anyway, I got hold of a brand new one and got a fibreglasser to make a mould of it. I went to work for a week and when I got back, hey presto! I have a fibreglass dash now. Cost more than the genuine one, but I have the mould to make more. Rear one is genuine plastic one, front one is the fibreglass replica. Cheers for viewing! -
I think go for it, man it's your truck you should definitely build it the way you like it. Does it currently have a 4 inch pipe? Have a look at the clamps on it, cause you would have to go 3inchs bigger. You may have to get a bit creative, but I'd be interested to see how it goes. I want to put twin stacks on mine, but not have them fixed to the cab, but rig up some sort of gantry.

Anyone ever use/buy aftermarket doors?
Timmyb replied to thomastractorsvc's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
PAI do after market doors. Is their stuff made in the USA? And what is the quality of PAI stuff? -
Thanks a lot for your in put. I was thinking 1800 was a tiny bit high. I'll aim for about the same 1600-1650 rpm.
-
Cheers for that. Do you think that would be the same for the higher reving e6? Being a narrower power band I'd imagine it would be a few hundred rpm higher.

Sorry wrong link, try searching "106042 speed chart"
-
I'm pretty sure mack rears are different. I've got a chart that you can work out what ratio diffs will work with the ration of your overdrive. My mack 10 speed has an overdrive of .78 so using this chart I can safely assume what ratio I need. https://ne1-attach.ymail.com/au.f1251.mail.yahoo.com/ya/securedownload?fid=Inbox&mid=2_0_0_1_76745_APNoimIAABJjUj%2FehQAAAJSsIA8&pid=2&check_content_type=2&fullscan=1&YY=377702796&appid=YahooMailMobile&cred=9HhWTu6RV17.NmffrfoIlUGUgKU_iolKVY4pNVfFgE6f75s-&ts=1379917991&partner=ymail&sig=MgaDgnrz567b3sl8BEE33A-- Hope that helps mate!

What do you guys think the best cruising rpm is at 60mph? Both for fuel economy and pulling? I've got a 2v 300hp and I can get a cheap rto11613 13 sp single overdrive and 3.9 diffs. This combo should see me sitting at 1800rpm at 60mph (100kmh). What do the e6 engines like to run at?
-
Hi guys, not sure if this has been touched on yet, and my apologies if it has... But my mate has bought a air ride suspension, which has Meritor diffs and 10 stud hubs. My mack has what we call them in Australia, spider hubs, and I'm wondering if any body knows if they are interchangeable? For the record my diffs are 44000lb and the Meritor diffs are 20/145. Cheers.

I'm like a lot of blokes here... It's horses for courses. Air ride is good for hwy, lower tare weight, comfort, supposed to be road friendly, and you can tell exactly how much weight you have on. All that means nothing if you have to dig yourself out of a bog every few hours. My old mack has camelback and she'll be staying that way!

I'm yet to drive mine with a load on it, but with 1425lb these engine must pull like a freight train?
-
Thanks giantgreen, just as to avoid confusion is there just the one em6-300l? Or is there a normal rev 300? Just wanna try and pin point which engine mine is...
-
I'm trying to find I do on these engines also. Found a few sites/people popping figures or 1425lb ft of torque. Now I'm not sure if its true but I sure would like some clarification. Here is a page with hp and torque ratings... You'll find em6-300l on page 10. http://www.amsautomotive.com/download/Lipe_HP_Torq.pdf

Well that's true for this truck, if I ever want to dump my load so to speak I have to get out and walk. Newer ones have an air operated tailgate. But you make a good point Rob, I guess no ne here has ever thought to make the lever at the front of the body so e where. Does that set up give you any trouble? -
Thanks for the welcome... I've posted a couple of pics of a few of our trucks. Lots more to come though, once I figure out technology! Loving this forum already.

Most r788 macks brought out in Australia were v8s. This is a genuine from the factory e7 400hp. Apparently only about 50 were produced. Any more info on these would be great.
