  1. Lookn' good. When do you think you will bring it out?
  2. Very nice. The air cleaner and visor really set it off.
  3. Truck really looks nice. You've come a long way in a short period of time.
  4. Beautiful scenery at Harper Ferry. As far as "best girl in a car" I have to go with the very first one. Thanks as always for the great pix.
  5. It was also reported today that a wrongful death suit has been filed against Hillary by two of the families of those killed in Benghazi.
  6. That's a BIG job.
  7. If you can't find a manifold try these folks for welding: http://www.castmetalwelding.com/Services.html I've had him do several cast iron pieces for me including 1930s Cadillac exhaust manifolds. Buck (I think that is his name) did a great job that is still holding up after about 10 years. The turn around time wasn't too bad, a couple of weeks, price was reasonable considering I couldn't find replacements. Good Luck.
  8. That is what you call work ready condition. Nice.
  9. That is a really cool truck and worth the effort.
  10. Oh that's nice.
  11. Great show. Looks like perfect weather. Thanks for the pictures.
  12. I should have been more specific, I contacted Barry at Watt's Mack twice with all the numbers we spoke of regarding a complete tie rod end, repair parts or seal kits. He said none were available for the FA 505. Watts is always my first choice for parts as I appreciate their support and also this forum. I also appreciate all of the help and knowledge available here.
  13. I did call Barry again with the individual tie rod end numbers from the build sheet and the number on the pin cup and still no luck, not even on the seal parts. I went to Moog technical with those same numbers and measurements and they couldn't come up with anything. I did find some used parts with hardly any wear that seem to be serviceable.
  14. Thanks for the info. I had heard his name before but didn't know where he lived.
  15. Very nice, just the right patina for an "old workhorse".
  16. It has been awhile but as I recall you un attach the column at the dash and loosen the clamps that hold the outer column on. Then remove the frame bolts for the box and remove it and the shaft from underneath. The steering shaft doesn't come off the box without disassembly of the box.
  17. WOW! You have come a long way. Looks great.
  18. Thanks for the lead. I will call them tomorrow.
  19. K, You are right it is rebuildable. It is a different configuration than the one in my service manual. There is a number on the tie rod and also the socket inside, 20-5050.
  20. I checked the build sheet and found 10QHA 220 P1 & 221 P1 listed as "cross steering socket asy", which sounds like tie rod ends. I missed that before not recognizing their naming. Here is a picture of the ones that are on now.
  21. Mine has the power assist ram also. In the absence of coming up with anything better I thought of tie rod sleeves that would allow use of a male connection tie rod. Moog has sleeves listed that would fit the fine thread end of the tie rod but not the course end. I can't see where this set up would be a safety issue, especially for an old retired Mack that leads a life of leisure. I have mine apart and will take measurements and call Moog on Tuesday. It will also be interesting to see what the "old Mack parts guy" comes up with.
  22. I agree. You would think if the supply was all used up and there are still plenty of this axle set around it would be worth while to do a run. I have no idea how much or how many units it would take. One of our local parts houses gave me a print out of the different type ends available in a progressive size chart and there is nothing close. Most all of the rods available have a male threaded end as opposed to female.
  23. Bobby, It sounds like you are having the same problem as I am. Any luck? I have not come up with anything yet.
  24. He didn't give a number for the ends, just said they hadn't had any for about 5 years and also that PAI didn't have them either. My axle # is1QHA 4125 BPS (or 5). Would those numbers you list be current part numbers for the ends? Larry, It is strange but it seems to make sense when you think about it.
  25. Unfortunately mine are not the rebuildable ones.
