  1. Welcome. What a piece of history and very fortunate to have survived in such good condition.
  2. There might be a snap ring or something holding it in place. It seems like they would have made removal fairly easy for repairs. I got my finger crossed for you.
  3. I don't have a picture but mine had two bolts (one on each side) holding the plate on the back of the wiper motor to the firewall. Once the air lines and the two bolts were off the wiper motor pulled out of a socket that connects to the wiper linkage.
  4. I'm not sure about the newer trucks either. The wiper motor on my B is a Trico Folberth and it is stuck in the park position. I took the motor off today and using shop air on the inlet valve it will go one direction and stop. If you put the air to the park valve it will travel back and stop. I took the motor apart and there is a mechanism in there that looks like it is supposed to reverse the air flow from the inlet valve to a lower valve. I didn't find any blockage or krud in there or in the valving. It seems the reversing mechanism needs adjusting but I don't see how to do that.
  5. That auction is not far from me. The contractor that owns the trucks and equipment has a yard about 4 miles from my house. He has a fairly large collection of trucks mostly GMC & Chevy pickups and a variety of others. The '61 B Model is pretty nice but has deterioated over the past few years from sitting outside. He used to use it to pull a four car trailer hauling the pickups. I've seen the A Model but didn't look at it close.
  6. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Welcome. It is always great to be in the company of like afflicted folks.
  8. Neat pictures. I like those vintage car haulers. Wonder what has happened to all of those trailers you never see them around.
  9. Very cool fire engine. Have fun "gussying it up". My grandmother used to say that about getting dressed up for church.
  10. I just got my new straight pipe for the B-model. Some say it might be a bit much but I think it will help it breathe a little better:) Will post pics when installed. That should relieve any back pressure problems. Can't wait for the pictures.
  11. Sounds good, coming right along.
  12. Great looking B Model. Cool setting, looks like old Rt 66.
  13. Very cool way to polish the wheels. That would make a great video.
  14. That's a beautiful sound when they first fire.
  15. Sweet!!! (on all accounts). I will have to come again and see the new additions.
  16. Welcome and thanks for the pictures. Some great looking trucks for sure. Harry
  17. Looks like that is what they call a "frame off".
  18. Mark, You are right about Kennett Square. You sure don't want to drink the water either.

The rear tires are mud & snow tread. They were on the truck when I got it. I thought they would be noisy but there are plenty of other sounds to drown them out.
  20. I was at an antique car flea market today near Kennett Square, PA (SE corner of PA) and saw a L cab B-75 sitting behind a shop. The owner is an older gentleman that has several older Macks. This truck had the hood bent from snow sliding off of the roof this past winter. He said it hadn't been started for over a year. Also the engine and trans had been swapped and a 673 with a duplex was in it. Was a pretty nice truck other than the hood damage. He wasn't interested in selling it. Of course I did not have a camera. I think he said he bought it some years ago neat Lititz after the engine & trans swap.

Thanks C609T. This is the only one I have right now. Seems like every time I pick up the camera the battries are dead or for some reason I can't get them on the computer. I'd like to get a phone that does all of that but I need some more courage to do that.

I'm not sure what the Jehovah's Witness religion is all about either. We see them, usually on a Sat morning once or twice a year. They are always cordial, especially if they want to talk about old trucks. Randy P, I think I was near your area a few years ago. I have a friend in Mt Pleasant that deals in antique Cadillac parts. Nice garage. It looks like you have quite a few signs in there. Love the color on the Mack...I'm headed that way myself with mine. Thanks, I started collecting signs before the Pickers ran the prices up. I think your truck will be awesome in yellow. It makes them stand out.

Had a van pull in the driveway this morning and a young girl ( maybe 20-21) gets out with a handful of pamphlets walking toward me. She was from the Jehovah's Witnesses and started her pitch. She looked in the garage and asked "is that an antique Mack truck". From that point on the conversation was about Macks and how her father loved them. I took her brochure and told her to bring her father by some time. Here's shot from whre she was standing. I was impressed she knew her trucks.
  25. Thanks again for reporting the true story. It is a very sad situation for all involved and their families. Too bad we have to be subjected to all of the media bias when it comes to the news.
