  4. Thanks to all for the good info. the truck is running again!! It turns out that the wires where one position off when I set the flywheel on TDC. Moved them back and she fired right off.

  6. Have spark and fresh fuel gravity feeding from a small lawn mower tank. Battery is old but I am cranking with the assist if a battery charger
  7. I have a 41" Mack with an M330 Continental engine. It stopped running on day and I can not get it started again. I found no fuel getting up to the spark plugs. Upon inspection I found the carburator body gasket leak fuel out, I had the carb rebuilt and reinstalled it. I have tried starting the motor and it still does not start. Fuel pudles on the bottom but nothing seems to getting up into the cylinders. Anyone have any ideas?

  9. Just wondering if anyone knows what the correct carburetor would be for my Mack, It is a 1941 Mack Type 45 with a Continental 330. When I got the truck it had no carburetor. Now it time to get it running this spring.

  12. Any one know who sells m330 parts. I need an exhaust vale. Lost compression the other day and found #2 exhaust valve stuck open. So before I start tearing into the motor I would like to know what is available.

  14. WE HAVE SPARK AGAIN!!!! Thanks to all who posted, the problem turned out to be two fold. First the wire feeding the coil was good enough to pass voltage, but not good enough to pass current. Next problem was the spark plug and coil wires. With 5k of resistance what ever voltabge the coil put out was eaten up before it reached the plugs. .Thanks again and Happy 4th of July. Fred

  17. Still at it. I measured the ohms of my wires and I get 5,000 ohms, but I had it running on theses wires before . Now while testing it today I stopped getting readings from the coil while it is attached to the cap. when I pull that off and ground it I get good spark and get 30kv. Looks like what ever is causing my spark loss is getting worse .
  18. I have tried that and no voltage is leaking through. Could the modern parts be to efficient for the older ignition systems?
  19. My system looks simple or so I thought. I only have one wire powering the coil and the other side to the distributor. The power to the coil comes from a simple push/pull switch on thje dash. The starter has a push button switch above the gas pedal to start.
  20. I have tried a new coil with the same results. As far as I know I do not think ms 6 volt system uses a ballast resistor.
  21. More information: When I keep the spark plug 1/4" away from the block I measure 8kv on the spark plug wire and can see the better spark arching. When I put it down on the block weak spark that does not even register on the kv tester. ???????
  22. I found out the distributor is correct. I changed the cap, rotor, points and condensor. I now l get 9 kv at the coil but no plug readings, if I pull a plug and lay it on the manifold I see a spark. I touch the kv probe there and get 15kv at the tip, but no readings at the plug wires. Any ideas?
  23. Anyone know what the coil output is in the six volt system? I have had trouble starting my truck. I checked the spark output with a kv tester and found the col is putting out 6kv and I have 4kv at the plugs. Seems to low to me. When I remove the coil wire from the cap and hold it close to ground I get 15kv. ????
  24. Anyone know where to get replace ment gas pedals for 41 mack ?
