  1. Got into a discussion the other day with a friend who says that Superliners only had axle mounted steering boxes for 2 years. I always thought that All Superliners, not Superliner II square headlights and air ride cabs, had the axle mounted steering box. Wasnt until the Superliner II came out in 85 that they had the same front clip as a MH Ultraliner with frame mounted steering box. Where as the Superliner, round headlights and no air ride cab used a front clip from the Cruiseliner. Im sure there are those reading this who will enlighten me if i am incorrect.
  2. As mentioned earlier by others, check the U joints, thats the simpliest task. Then go into the box on shift tower. Chances are its worn in there. They get worn and then sloppy. I did tach weld the gear to the shaft as the the keyway would not stay tight. That is a last resort though. I've owned and run F models, Cruiseliners and MH's, they all had there good and bad points. I think the Cruiseliner shift linkage, when in good order, has the best feel to it when shifting. Just my opinion
  3. Completley different set up in a Cruiseliner
  4. The more i think about it maybe the Cat powered MH's are a 653. Guess i should leave the facts to those who know.
  5. If it was a Cummins it should be a MH 633 if memory serves correctly. I think the MH 643 was Cat powered. 603 was a glider and 623 was Detriot power. But i have been known to be wrong before

  15. when i had the radiator out of my E9 i changed both thermostats just because i thought i should. However, the engine would not warm up after that. So i took the Thermostats back to Mack and explained the problem. Luckily for me the service manager happened to walk by and overheard. He suggested putting the old Thermostats back in. Which I did and its been fine. As the service manager said, "Today's parts aren't as good as the old parts. Make sure its circulating. The Thermostats are available thru Mack. Or were 4 years ago. Who knows what the new owners have done since. I di have to replace the Thermal clutch fan. But that shouldn't cause it to not warm up in the summer time at least. Good luck

  23. Mine has a bad engine. I'm the 2nd owner. I bought it from the son who told me they took a family vacation to Texas. While down there they toured the Marmon plant when this truck was started. For a 74 i'd say it was loaded. Has a 350 S.C. Cummins, RTO 12513, Factory Air ride, air slide 5th wheel, A.C., power window. The son told me that his father had the engine rebuilt. His mother told him that the truck came home on a hook 2 weeks later. #4 rod is sticking out of the block. I have a 350 B.C. for it but im toying with putting my 8V92 in it.
  24. Have a 74 Marmon. Rugged truck. Not much for styleing
  25. I hauled 2 D models to a collector near Attleboro, Ma. They use to reside at my neigbhors. quite a unique set up
