  1. what size axle, beam or air ride, where's the crack is it repairable? if its cracked next to a saddle it maybe repairable
  2. Do they allow the 'wrap around Stetson' bunch to haul dirt? I thought the cabs were too small for - wheel holder, navigator, and camel groomer. Ooops was I thinking out loud thru my fingers again.
  3. I should have thought of that, just replaced the switch valve in a truck that was doing the same thing----damn must be getting old.
  4. the glass bulb is a see (green) good to go mark as for the throw out brg. i've never been around one where you could hear your self think when the clutch is depressed even the 3208 predecessor the 1160 had the same noisy clutch. Never had the front water manifold off cant help with that , check ebay for books.
  5. the e 9 was feared out west on a up hill run, but was laughed at one you crested the summit, I feel the lack of an effective eng. brake also lead to lower sales #. cummins was the preferred eng of choice, followed by cat then Detroit. a lot of people loved the v-8 but got tired of hearing I need shoes and drums this week end.
  6. my old 1980 f250 all body fastners are meteric and power train is sae. thank god for 6pt. sockets only have to grab a 8, 10mm and no more trips to the tool box
  7. the green B would be a awesome service truck!
  8. looks great ! how much to get a R cab built like that!!!!!
  9. don't see to many 4x4 L model fords I'm a little jealous a fire station with a concrete floor! ours is dirt.
  10. grab one of the older shop manuals they used to have a pretty good section on turbo rebuilds ( cat, mack , case , cummins,)
  11. THAT ONE IS A REAL PAIN IN THE HEMROID Damn! Guess they are M16-2.0...would not have thought my truck had any metric! Guess you learn something everyday! yep the nut goes on a few threads and then your best 1/2 impact cant do more than just wreck about 7/16 worth of threads the damn nuts don't seem to pile up but the bolt threads do!!!
  12. is your drop axle electric-air operated-tied to ign. sw. I'm thinking your air loss is tied to the ign. sw. some how have you tried just turning the key to the "run" position and seeing if you have any leaks? or is your tailgate switch electric over air and your air cylinder is leaking when its charged with air?
  13. lookin good!!!
  14. just make sure his skills do the talking for a while, the old crew don't like a arrogant kid. with that said congrauts! welding skills often keep me on the job while others were laid off. a farm boy can go damn near any were he wants, most people don't have such a diverse back ground at that age, nor the skills haven't found a contractor or shop owner that don't prefer a farm kid to employ.
  15. this is what I've been working on for the last month and a half engine in frame fuel system rebuild and repaint its a 1975 so I guess its 39 year old thursday
  16. did your blow by and air tank oil start at the same time? if so sounds like the compressor may be the culprit of both
  17. my e9 500 and 450 are the same ones a 89 the other is a 91 so that much is the same at least.
  18. well welcome to the dog house watch where you step!
  19. I just don't like being "forced" to change as most of us have construction or farm back grounds its the parts are no longer available so we will " force" you into the newer stuff. as a contractor or farmer it don't always make sense to replace an older truck that wont pay for its self in its application but when you can no longer get parts your "forced" to up grade or hire it done on (on there schedule) when you buy a vocational truck its life span is often 30 years unlike a hwy.truck that has 1.5 million miles on it after 10 years I have seen lots of trucks that were 15 years old that didn't have 300,000 on them so how do you justify replacing it when there is still lots left to give.
  20. Dan had posted that he was going to make up some stainless steel hood protectors to fit superliners and asked any member that was interested in some to contact him, so I did and he delivered! I thought the price was very fair considering that were in two different countrys and on opposent ends of the continent to boot,
  21. NO NO NO it couldn't have been for the new drivers the guys and gal in the vid. were wearing real cloths not sweat pants and or wrap around Stetsons. and a few in the vid. almost fit the part of a blue collar worker, not the fat outta shape baggy ass un showered greasy haired sweat pants wearing slobs I see climbing outta otr trucks at the truck stop.
