  1. by pass the air comp and see if you get bubbles. also valve off heater loop. It could be a cylinder liner with a hole in the side of the liner or a cracked liner at the flange, is it pushing antifreeze out the overflow? does the exhxost smell of coolant? white stains on exh. manifold or turbo ?

  3. impressive failure never seen a water pump do that before without the truck being in a wreck. Did it throw a belt under another drive belt?
  4. it sounds like the buffer screw is set too loose. Set eng. low idle to 50 rpm less than spec. then turn buffer screw in until idle comes up 50 rpm then try truck should improve drivabilty a whole bunch
  5. yep the welding worked great ! I was a little puckered about it but I just traveled fast and about 1 1/2 in.wide weave pattern and all was great !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. any one have a good idea on pulling dry liners outta this engine? tried standard liner puller but no luck tried heating liner while pulling and drumming liner flange with air chisel still no luck I've heard of splitting them with a torch but only seen it done on the thin wall liners these are about .080 thick. would welcome a good idea besides pulling eng. and putting in big press
  8. lucky! not to many log truck wrecks around here are fixed with a new mirror and bracket our last one in nov. totaled a w900l even the trailer. the driver endowed it going up hill empty!! speed might have been a factor.

  11. will the bumper extenders from a rd work? I don't have any but remember some 89 rd688 having them
  12. check the wire and make sure it didn't short to ground some where in the harness

  14. some of the cross pins have a roll pin in them making it a real pain in the prostrate to get out you may have to wire brush the camel hump to find the roll pin and may have to drill it out. something about alum.steel salt and water. go figure!

  16. take the wire off at center rear of top tank this should turn off lite. then remove sender if no coolant on sw. is good if coolant is present change sender
  17. no I think that's the new tax schedule for each dollar earned. Obama wants 1.64 in taxes to go towards financial balance to narrow the "gap"
  18. old ceiling fans do wonders too since heat rises and gathers in the top of the air space any thing to push it back down and mix the air works great. another thing is if you have a big enough power supply a old electric furnace turned upside down mounted in the ceiling or just in the upper 1/3 of the building works good also

  21. if it rattled, burnt diesel, or had a air horn I was in front of the t.v. watching. Any one ever found the movie KILL DOZER in recent years avaible any where, would like to see it again. haven't seen it in 35+ years

  23. gotta agree this summer was my first time on here and needed info in a hurry, as I was transplanting and interbreeding a e-9 450 to a e9-500 and found a few "glitches" that you guys helped me with. I appreciated very much as I don't live in a mack rich environment. so finding answers on the big boys wasn't easy around home but seamed to find them within hours on here. Now I cant seam to leave here,I really enjoy reading the posts and problems of the fellow man. thanks gearhead
  24. something amuck here 60,000 since in frame and fire rings are gone? also liners /head worn? is eng deck screwed? were heads not properly torqued? did they not resurface or replace heads at overhaul? id contact last owner and ask for some receipts so you can figure out what happened ,because if you cant put your finger on the problem you best get that truck to a trusted, warrantable shop or your wallet might get lighter yet that's my .02 worth
