  1. Besides turkey season approaching, it ginseng season "actually no season for it" just everyone is on the look for it. Good point James.
  2. yeah, that's what I was thinking. Hate to take the easy way out,but it's probably my only choice. Well,I must be off to Chattanooga. Sometimes the easiest fix is the best at the time. Have a good trip, well actually at this point you are probably somewhere else. Better yet have a good week...
  3. Too bad about the emeryville, good score on the wheels though. Flexpipe should work fine. I say you would pay a pretty good price if you could find a piece with the right bend
  4. Sounds like you had a pretty busy day. I checked out the pics and left a couple of comments. Don't worry about being tardy on your son's birthday, I'm sure he understands.
  5. that's what I thought-you should jump on it! I'm spent like last weeks paycheck. I found a '78 r-model dump and a 80's model Mack. I delivered to a job site and the owner told me he would work out a deal with me. I would like to have another r-model like my last one. His '78 has a 6 speed, jake, and drop axle. I might call about the 'ol girl. Thanks buddy.....
  6. It's just cloudy here at work, and that is a nice looking truck. Excatly what I need to fill in the rest of my property. Not a bad price for the ol' girl.
  7. I just don't think the new 475/550's are up to par with the old manual pump cat motor's, which usually had alot of air-to-air problems. Not dogging your truck at all, or anybody else's. The new Cummins are having alot of EGR problems, and a few turbo problems at low miles. 60 series detroit seems to be a decent motor though & the N-14 Cummins was always good one in my opinion, Peterbilt stop using the detroit around '01 I believe. Good looking truck Underdog, I say you can run with those Pete's and Kw's just fine. Sorry to hear about that again Tom, They should be fixing that for free by now....
  8. Good looking freightliners James. I always liked both those style freightliners, I always wanted one like the truck Rick Yemm drove in the 1st season of ice road truckers. Sounds like you done good on the T-800 though. I've heard the story about the Mack, but always good to hear it again in my opinion. I can set and listen to old truck stories, or new anytime. My uncle charles drove truck for almost 50 yrs. so he can tell some good stories. Have a good one fellars....
  9. We thought about puttin' out an amber alert.
  10. Now that I got back on track, I got a joke for you. What do you get when you get 32 Louisiana cheerleaders together? A full set of teeth!!!! I heard that on John-boy & Billy, It was on story time with Carl Childers w/special guest The Fat girl from the Dollar General.
  11. What was the question? Is this some kind of bulletin? Man I'm confused....lol
  12. Congratulations , We had faith in ya.
  13. Alright James, Where are you hiding?? There can't be that much scrap in Ga. I realize you just read and reply every now and again, but c'mon buddy. Just wondering about ya. Been a decent week for me anyway,Since I'm updating my blog, Me and Kevin took some sheetrock up to a cabin yesterday, which all it had was a little dirt road to go up. We spun out on the second switch back and almost took it off a embankment. When the truck spun out, kevin said "Hang on Duffy", I replied "I'm one step ahead of ya". Anway after 6 hours they got the truck unstuck. I rode back to the yard with the buggy truck driver. Here in a few weeks I pretty much will probably be setting. There gonna try the Lowe's approach, Keep our 1-ton, Pickup, and box van, get rid of our 2-ton, and get another buggy truck. Most loads will be going on the 2 big trucks, as in 2 or more drops and so on. I'm assuming job search will be in the picture for a few of us in the next couple of months. boys are doing better now, over there cold & still growing like crazy. Have a good one......
  14. My hair is leaving faster on the top, or as the guys at work say it's runnin away from my face, but it is fun looking back at the older days..
  15. Glad you got your tire problem worked out...lol. I woulda sent it to the tire shop if I seen that it was like that. Yeah she was laughing at some things i said.If she thinks i'm funny, she would really get a kick outa some of these other mountain folks. I say window to their winder, I say tire to their tar. I'm no better than them mind ya, but I pronounce some of my words different..anyway Tell her I'll send her some french fried taters.....um-hmmm...Or some biscuits and mustard......Can you tell like what models those tractors are? I figured the 2 Fords are 8n's? The massey and 2 john deere's I don't know..Have a good one buddy
  16. Well it all started last week, saturday as a mater of fact. Waited for otherdog to tell me when he got his package I sent to him, "It was gonna be a surprise, but got ruined" I had to break the news to him sunday. Anyway, I believe it arrived wednesday, a WEEK after it was sent. Usually takes 3 days for me and him to send stuff to each other. Talked to Jobyna to check to see if it was delivered. You talk about a nice person to talk to..."The way I mean that is she don't know me and still treated me like I talk to her everyday" glad it got there in one piece or all 5 pieces are ok. Second bad thing is the boys are sick, runny noses, inner ear infections, etc. I think they are already getting better. The rest of the week wasn't to bad. Had tuesday off because I had to work saturday, and finally found some overalls at a reasonable price. Probably took out about 15 loads this week, which isn't good, but between 6 guys it's not too bad. Got in a race this week, Yes in the Potter's 2-ton truck. Raced a highway department 2-ton dump truck. My truck is a '94 chevy kodiak w/a 366 gas motor, 18ft flat bed, 5 speed w/single speed rear. His was a '04 chevy kodiak w/a 366 gas motor, 5 speed w/2 speed rear, 10ft. dump . He got behind me coming out of their shop, I was empty coming back from a delivery, and he was keeping the pace with me all the way back to the 4-lanes. He followed me for about 2 redlights then pulled beside me in the right lane. We both gave each other shit eatin grins, then we was gone, I started in lo when I shoulda started in 2nd, He couldn't hang with me until i hit 4th, after that he walked all over me. After i caught up "Or he slowed down" I threw my hand up at him and he did the same. That was friday, well the guy stopped by today to pick up a tub for his brother, right away we recognized each other and just started laughing, I told him he was laying one hell of a a$$ whoopin' on me, he replied "I thought you was gonna walk on me" and he thought I had let up. Hell I wasn't even letting off the gas to shift. I guess that's enough of my racing. Pretty crappy weekend though gotta haul off garbage, change oil, go get a boat trailer tomorrow, probably find something else to do too. Need to mow, but runnin' outa time. As Otherdog would say "I must be off"
  17. Jobyna will put a hurtin on you for that. I had a chain drive wallet at one time myself
  18. We went to Wal-Mart last night and in the dvd's I seen a Jethro Tull concert on dvd. I bought a dvd called Big Rig, not to bad just shows the lives of truckers on the road, women truckers, and just what it's like for a trucker to go everyday and so on.
  19. Sounds like a fun friday. Nice of you to send some hot dogs over there even though the lady is for an opposing team. Maybe you guys can have a good steak dinner tomorrow. I heard a guy tell a waitress once to "Slit it's throat and wipe it's ass" not me though I like 'em well done. Anyway have a good one buddy...
  20. Yeah dad was born August-1960 and died April-2001. He was a teen in the 70's, which was a time for good rock music. You guys can't disown me, I've gotta have some sorta father figures.
  21. I always told my parents I would of preferred to be born in the 60's. Which my dad was born in '60 so he said he had some good times though.
  22. Boys are doing great, they are growing too fast for my liking. That truck will be ready for work instead of showing it off!! I'm sure you'll have me a truck Paul, just be PATIENTLY waiting...lol
  23. I've not listened to alot of Jethro Tull, but Zeppelin or any other guys like Neil Young I've listened to quite a bit. That is a hard decision to make buddy.
  24. Those w-900's are nice trucks. I bet she's a runner with that 525. I know where a '69 w-9 is needs a motor and trans. but is in very good shape. Funny thing about kenworth's is all the doors interchange. Someone put daylight doors on this truck which don't look bad at all, but they told me they got them from a '96 t-600...anyway not a bad price for her, but if I'm gonna buy a truck it'll be that R-model from you Paul. Might take me 10 years or so, but have it ready......
  25. Thanks noclue, the thing is Mr Garretts health was fine that's why it was such a shock to everyone. I think that if he could have chosen a way to go he would have chozen the anurizum but he loved his family so much I know he would have wanted to say good bye. I hope your friend's health improves and he enjoys life to it's fullest. No problem buddy..
