Trucking News: Traton to Navistar: That's Our Final Offer
Red Horse replied to BMT Forum Bot's topic in Trucking News
thx RR Have not been paying attention to market today and just noted back up to 43.46. Icahn and MHR Fund, two large shareholders say 44.50 works. Works for me financially but I still hate to see another once proud US company gone. -
Trucking News: Traton to Navistar: That's Our Final Offer
Red Horse replied to BMT Forum Bot's topic in Trucking News
So if true, that says to me Traton should go back to table. Haven't Navistars numbers bren on an upward trend as they put the EGR fiasco behind them? -
Do I think Trump is a jerk? Yes - Do I value results? Yes. This makes the case for him IMO and why I'm forced to vote for him again. A little long, but well written I could not have said it better myself !!!! Whose fault is it anyway? Look at yourself – What do you SEE? If you are a liberal who can’t stand Trump, and cannot possibly fathom why anyone would ever vote for him, let me fill you in. It’s not that we love Donald Trump so much. It’s that we can’t stand what you are doing! And we will do whatever it takes, even if that means electing a rude, obnoxious, unpredictable, narcissist (your words not ours) to the office of President of the United States — because the thing we find more dangerous to this nation than Donald Trump is YOU. How is that possible you might ask? You have done everything in your power to destroy our country. From tearing down the police, to tearing down our history, to tearing down our borders. From systematically destroying our schools and brainwashing our kids into believing socialism is the answer to anything (despite Socialism being an unmitigated failure everywhere), while demonizing religion and faith, and glorifying abortion, violence, and thug culture. You call us racists every time we expect everyone of any skin color to follow our laws equally to gaslighting us about 52 genders, polyamory, grown men in dresses sharing public locker rooms with little girls, and normalize the sexualization of young children. You simultaneously ridicule us for having the audacity to wish someone a “Merry Christmas” or hang a flag on the 4th of July, stand for the national anthem, or (horror of horrors) don a MAGA hat in public. So much for your “tolerance.” You show no tolerance to anyone! Do you see why we think you are just hypocrites?? We’re also not interested in the fact that you think you can unilaterally decide that 250 years of the right-to-bear-arms against a tyrannical or ineffective government should be abolished because you can’t get the violence in the cities you manage under control. That free-speech should be tossed out the window, and that those who disagree with your opinions are fair game for public harassment or doxing. You think that spoiled children with nose-rings and tattoos, who still live off their parent’s dime should be allowed to destroy cities and peoples livelihoods without repercussions. You think that chaos, and lawlessness, and disrespect for authority should be the norm. This is your agenda. And you wonder why we find you more dangerous than Donald Trump? Your narrative is a constant drone of oppressor/oppressed race-baiting intended to divide the country in as many ways as you possibly can. You love to sell “victim-hood” to people of color every chance you get because it’s such an easy sell, compared to actually teaching people to stand on their own two feet and take personal responsibility for their own lives and their own communities and their own futures. But you won’t do that, you will never do that, because then you will lose control over people of color. They might actually start thinking for themselves, God forbid! This is why we will vote for Donald Trump. Not because he is the most charming character on the block. Not because he is the most polite politician to have ever graced the oval office. Not because he is the most palatable choice, or because we love his moral character or because the man never lies, but because we are sick and tired of you and all of the destructive chaos that you are doing to this once beautiful and relatively safe country of ours. Your ineffective and completely dysfunctional liberal “leadership” has literally destroyed our most beautiful cities, our public education system, and done it’s darnedest to rip faith out of people’s lives. However bad Donald Trump may be, and he is far from perfect, every day we look at you and feel that no matter what Donald Trump says or does there is no possible way he could be any worse for our country than you people are. We are sick to death of your stupid, destructive, ignorant, and intolerant behavior and beliefs — parading as “wokeness.” We are beyond sick of your hypocrisy and B.S. We are fed up with your disrespectful divisiveness and constant unrelenting harping and whining and complaining (while you live in the most privileged nation in the world), while making literally zero contributions of anything positive to our society. Your entire focus is on ripping things down, never ever building anything up. Think about that as there is something fundamentally very wrong in the psychology of people who choose destruction as their primary modus operandi. When Donald J Trump is reelected, don’t blame us, look in the mirror and blame yourselves. Because you are the ones that are responsible for the rise of Donald Trump. You are the ones who have created this “monster” that you so despise, by your very actions. By your refusal to respect your fellow Americans, and the things that are important to us. You have made fun of the “fly-over states,” the people who “cling to their guns and religion,” the middle class factory workers and coal miners and underprivileged rural populations that you dismissively call “yahoos” and “deplorables.” You have mocked our faith and our religion. You have mocked our values and our patriotism. You have trampled our flag and burned it and insulted our veterans and treated our first responders with contempt and hatred. You have made environmentalism your religion, while trashing every city you have taken responsibility for. You scream from the rooftops about “global warming” and a “green new deal” while allowing tens of thousands of homeless people to cover your streets in literal sh!t and garbage and needles and plastic waste without doing a single thing to help them or solve the environmental crisis your failed social policies are creating. But we’re supposed to put YOU in charge of the environment while gutting our entire economy to institute this plan when you can’t even clean up a single city? You complain — endlessly — yet have failed to solve a single social problem anywhere. In fact, all you have done is create more of them. We’ve had enough! We are tired of quietly sitting by and being the “silent” majority. So don’t be surprised when the day comes when we finally respond. And trust me it’s coming, sooner than you might think. And also trust me when I say it won’t be pretty. Get ready. When Donald J. Trump is reelected it will be because you and your “comrades” have chosen to trash the police, harass law-abiding citizens, and go on rampages destroying public property that we have all paid for and you have zero respect for. When Donald J. Trump is reelected it will be because we are sick of your complete and utter nonsense and destruction. How does it feel to know that half of this country finds you FAR more despicable than Donald J. Trump, the man you consider to be the anti-Christ? Let that sink in. We consider you to be more despicable, more dangerous, more stupid, and more narcissistic than Donald Trump ever could be. Maybe allow yourself a few seconds of self-reflection to let that sink in. This election isn’t about Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden. This is about Donald Trump vs YOU. So if on the morning of November 4 (or more likely January 19, by the time the Supreme Court will weigh in on the mail-in ballot fiasco that we are headed towards), and Donald J. Trump is reelected? The only people you have to blame is the left-wing media drones and yourselves. End . . . that was the point I was trying to make. My 237 has always started at touch of button. But in process of replacing steering box I took the primary off for better access. In process of pulling floor boards up, I lost a piece of throttle linkage so I made up new rod. I had all floor back in place and wanted to make sure linkage was good so I fired it up-after making sure primary was full. Ran for a few minutes then quit. Cranking and no smoke. Pulled primary and it was down well below pick up. Not being a "wrench" I filled it again with same result. And this was after I disconnected outlet at second filter just before pump. Hit the primer about 8 times got good pressure and I'm spraying fuel-again primary was full to brim t that point.. Filled it again, fired up, running well and I then shut it down and pulled primary. Sure enough it is NOT full. Called my "mentor" Danny M-Mass guys will know who I'm talking about-He quickly says I have a leak in line between tank and filter. I say.."but I checked line-no evidence"-he says "Its a suction line-its an air leak. "Check line again"..... Duh- took me 3 seconds- I 'm looking at filter housing and I see like 3 bright brass threads on hose! In process of taking filter off, I disconnected housing from firewall and in process of wrestling old box out and putting replacement in the real mechanic who was helping me and I kept moving fuel line/filter base and obviously loosened hose. Now I know what an air leak can do to a pump😎 -

If pumping primer 50 times and it doesn't build pressure what does that say.? -
Your F-8000 looks good-...keeping the single rear wheels??

As I work "scrunched Up" in my B cab putting floor panels back after replacing steering box, the thought crossed my mind. What was Mack's motivation to replace the L cab with the B. Could it have been : --Driver comfort? Doubtful. Nice tall seating position in L vs B. --Visibility? Doubtful. Lot of glass area in L vs B -forward as well as looking out rear window. --Aerodynamics? Granted B must have been better but given 50's fuel prices hardly-and the only wind tunnel probably started with your mother in law. So what was the driving force-just something "new" How about it KSC? PS- the attached picture of Andy Hendersons B-73 speaks volumes

steering wheel filler
Red Horse replied to Red Horse's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Well Harry to add, I dug out what PC 7 I had on the shelf-not sure about shelf life but it while not hard was pretty stiff-both components. So Im thinking, "yah- I see Harry's point-have to get this workable". But to Val's point maybe I'll just see if I can mix it up. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. -

Nice-what year and what is power train? Rubber? -
IMO if 33,000 gvw is max, not too attractive if you are talking about typical municipal dump/plow chassis-so that says 10 /23 or 12/20 axles . Even Ford in a 750, offers a 14 front and a 23 rear with a spring package that I think takes the rear to 26. And there are plenty of people that feel even a 14,000 front is not enough to handle the typical angling plows that are used today.
-
Ah-but I'm older than you I'll bet😎 And if we are talking about RTO's for sure they were reversed. In the back of my mind though I'm thinking when they went to the "X" designation for OD I'm not sure if that still applied. ???
-
No clue but you are correct on what the "X' meant in terms of the reversed position of 4-5.

Not that it matters but just wondering. The Ford/International thing was announced as a JV with the creation of a new entity, "Bluediamond". I think all of the door jam plates referred to Bluediamond- At least that is how I remember. I don't think this new GM/Navistar deal created a "new entity"- or did it? How about it KSC?
-
Well that explains that decision-probably still a couple of Bow ties hanging on walls😎. And for sure on the "IH" badges-built in the Navistar plant! Is there any commonality with say a 3500 GM? I remember in the Bluediamond days. I recorded the spring hangar numbers on a 4400 that was at the International dealer and went down the street to Ford dealer-exact same numbers on a 750!
-
Now that is one big Ansul extinguisher!😎 Must have been a lot of flammables going through that town.
-
What GVW and curious as to reason a CV vs a Dodge or Ford? I was talking to a guy the other day with a new Chevy-not sure what rating but it had a very big utility body on it-open bed but tool compartments both sides- guy is a mechanical/piping contractor. I asked why this vs Ford or Dodge.."tilt hood?". Answer.."it was the cheapest by a long shot". I'm sure that will end once they sell enough of them. Plenty of dealers have inventory but I have not seen many on road-either badge.
-
Well when I saw that my only concern is what area of truck is most susceptible to accident damage? I would say front end and in particular right front. I did see Roadway's positive view that the body guys are less likely to mess with it vs the typical rear of cab chasiss location but I think it makes most sense in close proximity to fuel fill. I'm sure soneone will say- "yeah but then someone is going to put diesel in it" but given the color of the cap, that should not be a real issue unless someone has a booze or drug issue🤪
