  1. Its all in the spokes😎
  2. And what do you see regarding the senate race? If Mills is that unpopular hopefully it will help Collins
  3. Yeah Jim but think of the money they save on charcoal or propane-just flip the steak on the grill!
  4. And I piss and moan when its 90!😎 Never bitch about winter-too cold? Put another layer on
  5. Excellent U-Moss included! I think I would rather deal with "southern moss" than Northeast salt! looking forward to the 200😎
  6. Mercedes was failing? KSC- you think so? I guess in my mind, if you believe Hebe's original "pronouncement " that the Ford purchase was a good thing because they were the "vocational leader" sounds like the Bullet was a good compliment to the rest of the Sterling line. Of course when you look at it in terms of conditions today, F'liner is the "vocational" king. That 300 million they paid Ford was the best way they could have bought market share. I was surprised they kept Sterling going as long as they did. Let's see, kind of like the situation Mack is in right now.
  7. Hah! You are a cynic-but you are probably correct!😎
  8. And what is your loader?? Sell your truck already or keeping your options open? In any case congrats! Don't know if you were at this point but my view has always been, when that clock goes off in the AM and your first reaction is.."Oh shit",...time to move on.
  9. Agree on the grill. I miss the old days when a set of shutters was the "grill". When the HX first came out I thought there was a version that had like a cross hatched "wire" grill-looked good IMO-but lately seems like they all have the Seeburg Jukebox grill. Then again, nice that Seeburg could stay in business building something😎
  10. Weren't they built in Somerville??
  11. No clue on the Hydrovac but the truck is a beauty! Only question I have is does it have enough power to turn that big rubber😎. Spokes forever!
  12. spent some bucks on that ol' F-8. looks like it has hood hinges and latches on rear! About the same interior cab space as a B😎
  13. What could be better (IMO)- a Louisville with spokes! Where were these right hand Fords built
  14. Interesting-first post was city of Bridgeport . Next photo New Haven FD. Must have been a state contract- or "monkey see-monkey do". Never knew that dry powder was used in such large quantities on trucks. Went to my share of fire schools and learned just how effective a 20 pd. ansul dry powder could be. we also had plenty of 150 lb wheeled Ansul dry powders in close proximity to loading racks.
  15. Couple of new LTL's at dealer. These were 350 Cummins, 12 frts, 44 rears. Pulled 11,800 gal tanks that had 50,000 lb susp. Mass (as did RI) had this overweight permit system that did not follow bridge formula. So the tandems on the trailer were set forward. Permits were 99,000 lb on five axles but tolerance allowed gross of 104,000. And no bridge formula so trailer axles were forward making for decent maneuverability when delivering to some of the older stations. Louisvilles were great value.
  16. Beast-never knew it existed.
  17. Very reasonable assumption. What does that say about VW increasing its stake?
  18. Old guy here but back in the 60's NHRA required a scatter shield even in the higher stock classes right??
  19. Forget about "aliens"-by now I'm sure they have moved on in their search for "intelligent life". My bet is they were monitoring CHAZ or CHOPS on left coast.
  20. Wow- that in Aus??? Looked good until the "suit" showed up in the VW. "PR" visit. "Service" would have been better illustrated with a real service truck in the shot😎
  21. Update! Or should I say "Lack of Progress Report". Had a friend over who is a recently retired very experienced HD mechanic-both on and off highway. He is going to help me-or should I sayI am going to help him. I got the trolly brake etc off steering column and the column free from dash. Then started getting floor pans loose. Finally decided only way that was going to happen was to get fender off. Figured in the long run it would be time well spent. Once I got floor mat/insulation up discovered a few "add on" plates that were done in transition from gas/quad to 711/ duplex, 237/duplex Stay tuned and as always welcome any and all suggestions.
  22. Well KSC when you read all the collective news articles covering Jim Farley's new position as top dog at Ford, one thing he repeatedly is quoted on is his reference to the importance of "commercial vehicles" to Ford's future. The big question will be, just what is Farley's definition of "Commercial trucks". Is it Transit and F-550/600 down? Or does it at the very least include class 6 and 7-to say nothing of 8. And that definition of "8" does not have to include the "large car" sleeper but rather the true vocational truck-where Ford was such a key player in the Louisville days.
